Chapter 2 Appointment

Selina POV

On arriving at the mansion, Adams 's Car was parked outside and although I knew I was innocent from the allegation, I felt a wave of anxiety hit me.

Upon stepping into the premises, I was shocked to see my luggages outside, while Adams and the familiar face of Alice, holding hands together.

"Can we talk privately? I can explain." I managed to find the right words to say.

Gray's stoic eyes made my heart beat faster. I watched him extend over to me a paper in his hands.

I took the paper and the content, had me in total disbelief.

"I don't have all the time in the world Selina. Do what's necessary and give it back."

I couldn't believe this. I felt a hole had been created in my heart from the decision that Adams was about to take.

"You wouldn't even allow me speak. All you had to do was hand me a divorce letter." I mentioned, at the brink of tears.

There was no reply from Adams . He kept staring at me like was an object of his curiosity. It was obvious he didn't consider me in a good light any longer.

"You know what Selina? I have always known that a day would come where all your deeds would be brought to limelight. It just happens to be a shame that this family is wrapped up in your mess as well." Jolie said.

"Why would you say such words? I don't care what you think and like I said, I am innocent from all the allegations everyone is trying to to wrap around my head." I turned to look at Adams , whose eyes hadn't turned away from me.

"Are you really going to believe the news? Are you really going to accept the fact that I am actually cheating on you?" I questioned.

"Selina, there is something you don't know and I think I should be the right person to let you in on it." Jolie said and moved closer.

"I knew of your past. I made my enquiries from someone and they told me the truth I needed to know. All along, I have always believed that your promiscuous act, must have a source. But what I never saw coming was the fact that you were a stripper."

I felt the winds knocked out of my body and I looked to the earth to cover my shame, but even the earth seemed not to care about me.

"Or do you think I am lying?" Jolie asked, a huge smirk on her face. "Look at her face darling, she can't even defend herself. She knows that I am telling the truth." She explained to Adams , whose silence was slowly killing me.

"Listen Adams , I know you may have your opinion about me or my past. But I need you and her to understand that I never chose this life. I didn't choose the life of being a stripper. I came from a poor background and I was determined to succeed at all cost, never minding the consequences. Your father....."

"I will not have you bring my father into our conversation. Don't try it again!" He warned with a glare on his face.

"Adams has made up his mind. Why are you still bugging him? There is nothing you can do about it." Jolie decided to add her voice and it pissed me off that she was part of this conversation.

"I don't want to believe that it will be his decision." I shook my head and fell to my knees, trying to beg him. "Adams , I know you are angry right now, but I need you to believe me. I did not sleep with anyone."

"I hate that you are still lying you manipulator! I should have believed the story about you being a whore."

Jolie was getting on my nerves with her comment. It felt like it fueled Adams 's rage even further.

"Adams , I need you to tell me that you don't love me. Tell me that you believe this news going around." I demanded, giving him a stare.

"I don't have to say anything to you Selina. I already told you everything and I hope I don't see you when I return." He held Jolie's hand and I watched in pain as they moved into his car and leave the mansion.

I dropped to the floor in pain as I realized my marriage was over. I had hope that we will raise our kids as great parents, but I am never going to get a father for my child.

Staring at the letter, I didn't need to give the marriage a second thought. Adams was a man of his words. He was disciplined and has obviously chosen his reputation over the marriage.

Staring at the divorce letter, I picked up the pen and imprinted my signature with tears flowing down my eyes.

It was disappointing to know that our marriage was going to end this way.

I felt my phone buzzing once again and upon picking, a familiar voice brought another round of tears to my eyes.

"What's the matter Selina? Why are you crying?" Mr. Russell enquired.

"I tried explaining to him? I had just finished with the doctor 's appointment and returned back to see my luggages outside."

Mr. Russell was an amazing man. He had stood with me through my difficult moments and the fact he paid the bills was enough reason to appreciate him.

"Are you talking about the video?" He asked.

"Yes. Mr. Russell I swear I didnt cheat on your son. I know you may not believe me, because you met me at the club in the first place, but I need you to trust me. I am never the sort to cheat, especially seeing how you helped me."

There was silence on the phone for a moment and my heart rate increased again. I couldn't bring myself to the reality, if he rejected me as well.

"I believe you Selina." He finally revealed.

"You do?"

"Ofcourse. There is a reason I chose you for my son and although he has never wanted you, I knew you were the right person for him." He explained further.

"But he doesn't see me in that light. He finally knows am a stripper." I stated.

"He knows? How did he got hold of that information?" Mr. Russell questioned. His tone showed elements of surprise.

"Jolie said it. I didn't know how she found out, but it appears she must have told him."

There was silence once again and I heard whispers at the background. He was speaking to someone.

"Listen Selina, you don't need to worry..."

"I am worried sir. My marriage with your son is over. I signed a divorce letter he gave to me."

"You did what?" His asked, obviously shocked by my action.

"I was compelled to sign it. I tried explaining to him, but he wouldn't listen. I just really wished he had listened to what I had to tell him. Maybe he would have a change of heart." Again my tears were uncontrollable.

"I know you would never cheat on my son. However, I wish to know what are you so keen on telling him? Is it about the video?"

I swallowed the heavily lump stuck up in my throat. How do I tell him? How do I make this explanation better for him to understand?

"Selina? I don't have all day.." He reminded.

"After the appointment with the doctor, he revealed I was pregnant for Adams
