Chapter 5 Who the hell is your boss

Chapter Five

Immediately, Chloe got into the car, and Adrian also got into the backseat. Chloe, noticing his presence in the backseat shifted closer to the window as she was very scared of moving close or taking a glance at him.

Chloe focused on all the activities going on outside. She made sure not to look at Adrian at all costs. Along the way, while they were driving, a reckless driver almost ran into Adrian's car, but the driver was quick enough to sway to the other side of the road.

The situation made Chloe fall into Adrian's arms. Chloe lay there for a while, scared for her life; she looked up and stared at Adrian. They were so close that they could feel each other's breath. While on that, Chloe tried her best to inhale the cologne Adrian was wearing and also stared at the handsome face that could make every woman tremble at their feet immediately they saw him.

Chloe used the opportunity of lying in his arms to admire his handsome face.

"Who wouldn't wish to be with a man like Adrian or admire him anytime the chance is given?" Chloe thought.

"Get off my arms and stop staring at me with those weak eyes of yours," Adria said coldly, bringing Chloe back to reality.

"Boss, I'm sorry for the inconvenience," the driver said, apologizing immediately after he noticed the uncomfortable situation Adrian was having in the backseat.

Chloe felt ashamed and scared as she gently raised her head and turned her attention towards the busy people outside. Chloe was already getting tired as she thought the journey was going to last for a lifetime.

Soon enough, the car pulled up in front of a magistrate court located in the heart of the city. They both got out of the car and entered with the driver standing beside the car, Adrian leading the way in while Chloe was just following him like a lost puppy who ran away from home.

Immediately they got in, all the female staff working in the court were looking for a way to get closer to Adrian. They all admired his handsome looks as he made his way into their boss's office. Everyone barely noticed Chloe walking behind Adrian as all their attention was fixed on him; they were ready to do anything to capture his attention.

Adrian couldn't care less as he focused on where he was going. A few minutes later, Chloe and Adrian were seen walking out of the boss's office. They had just finished signing their marriage certificates.

Chloe stared at the marriage certificate she held in her hand as she walked towards the entrance she was still finding it hard to believe that she had just gotten married to a man she barely knew.

Adrian was about to get into his car and zoom off with his driver when Chloe's voice stopped him unexpectedly.

"Excuse me, Mr. Blake!" Chloe said holding the door.

"Yes, what's the issue woman?" Adrian asked, rolling his eyes at Chloe.

She couldn't find the right words to say, she heaved out a heavy sigh of relief before she finally gathered the courage to look at Adrian's charming face.

"It's about my father's issue. You agreed to get him off the dirty mess he's into if we get married," Chloe said slowly, more like a whisper.

Chloe didn't know how Adrian would react, so she chose to speak slowly in case he got angry and asked her to repeat herself; she would just deny saying anything. Adrian, on the other hand, stared at Chloe in astonishment as she was busy playing with her fingers and staring at her feet.

Adrian's side mouth curved into a smile, but he quickly brushed it off. He shook his head slightly, took out his phone, and proceeded to make a call. The receiver didn't have to wait for Adrian's call to ring the second time before he picked up immediately.

"Good day, Mr. Adrian. How may I help you sir?" Mr. James asked at the other end of the call.

"Good day, Mr. James. I want Mr. Blackwood out of the mess he's into, clear every evidence laid against him, and leave no traces," Adrian said.

"Alright sir, I will start working on it. Thank you, sir," Adrian didn't wait for Mr. James to finish his statement before he ended the call.

Adrian dropped his phone on the car seat and then turned to Chloe.

"Everything is being cleared now, so you can get to see your father and stay close to him for a few hours, but remember to come home where you belong now," Adrian said.

He closed the car door and signaled to the driver immediately after he finished speaking with Chloe. Chloe, on the other hand, stared at the car till it was out of sight. She sighed back to reality a few minutes later and was about to bring out her phone to book an Uber when a black jeep pulled up in front of her all of a sudden.

Chloe was scared down to her bone marrow but immediately heaved out a heavy sigh of relief when the driver whined down and realized it was one of Adrian's drivers.

"Good day, ma'am; kindly get into the backseat," he said politely and stared at Chloe before he continued, "The boss asked me to take you to the police station to make sure that every of your father's property is released."

At first, Chloe was reluctant to enter the car because that's how many ladies got kidnapped in all the movies she had watched.

"Who the hell is your boss?" Chloe asked.

The driver noticing how scared Chloe was, chuckled and smiled. He pulled out his ID card and handed it over to Chloe. She stared at it for a while before getting into the car. Even if she got kidnapped in this state, she wouldn't mind because all her mind and attention were focused on seeing her father and brother.

Before they could get to the station, Mr. Blackwood was already waiting outside monitoring his properties as they were being packed into a truck.

Chloe couldn't wait for the car to park properly before she opened the backdoor and got out hurriedly as she ran towards her father. She hugged him tightly as tears of joy streamed down her face.
