Chapter 4 She Amazed the Whole World

The first thing Alexander did after regaining his sight wasn't rushing home to tell his family.

Instead, following local customs on the third day, they went straight to the homecoming banquet.

On the way back, Alexander drove directly to the most upscale shopping mall in the city.

Not only did he buy plenty of new clothes, but he also hired a professional stylist for Rebecca.

After a makeover, Rebecca stood before the full-length mirror, barely recognizing herself.

"President Harody, are you satisfied?" The stylist asked confidently.

Alexander crossed his legs, leaning back against the sofa behind him, holding a cigarette between his index and middle fingers.

He placed the cigarette at the corner of his lips and habitually commanded, "Turn around."

Rebecca turned around slowly, even lowering her head shyly.

She had spent the first eighteen years of her life living with her grandfather in the remote mountains, rarely interacting with outsiders.

Four years ago, after coming to The Campbell Family, she remained withdrawn, and The Campbell Family had never valued her.

Even when Nancy's clothes were worn out and tossed into the trash, they wouldn't be given to her.

Thus, a girl who had been neglected for years had now undergone a stunning transformation.

Alexander was a man of great stature. Even though this outcome was within his expectations, he couldn't help but be amazed.

Despite his disinterest in women over the years, he had seen plenty, yet he was still taken aback.

People believed Nancy was more beautiful than Rebecca because Nancy relied heavily on makeup and cosmetic procedures.

Meanwhile, Rebecca had always been bare-faced, appearing plain at first glance.

But with such a good natural foundation, a little dressing up made her breathtakingly beautiful.

"Not bad. That'll do. Swipe the card."

Alexander nodded, satisfied with Rebecca's look, and pulled out a black premium credit card.

The stylist had braided sections of Rebecca's long hair into a simple yet elegant style.

Her dress, a deep red knee-length gown, was perfect for the banquet, exuding a celebratory vibe.

For someone who never wore accessories, she now had white pearl earrings and a matching necklace.

On her ring finger was the wedding ring from yesterday's ceremony.

She didn't understand much about jewelry but had heard that the bigger the diamond, the more expensive it was.

Despite the simple wedding, The Harody Family had not compromised on quality.

Her dazzling diamond ring sparkled under the lights.

When she lifted her head, her eyes met Alexander's.

She immediately turned away, silent.

"I'm curious-over these four years, did Justin really never touch you?"

It was unclear if he was just suspicious or genuinely curious. Alexander's deep gaze fixed on Rebecca as he asked a question he probably shouldn't have.

Rebecca was annoyed all over again, especially after just curing his blindness.

She turned to Alexander, gritting her teeth as she responded, "If he had done anything to me, would it still be your turn?"

Alexander found her angry reaction amusing and chuckled softly.

Now that he could see again, he was in an excellent mood and decided to let her rudeness slide for now.

Noon at The Campbell Family Mansion

Everyone in The Campbell Family was utterly shocked when they saw Alexander had regained his sight.

"Y-Your eyes... they're healed?" Justin was the first to speak, unable to believe it.

Alexander glanced around, taking in every dramatic expression on their faces.

Then, he deliberately took Rebecca's hand into his palm.

"I must say, I owe it all to Rebecca-she truly is my lucky star."

"The moment she became my wife, my vision was restored."

Nancy's face turned sour. While The Campbell Family had always intended for an arranged marriage with The Harody Family, she had personal aspirations.

Alexander was the most eligible man in Boston-his appearance and status unmatched.

As the top elite, the position of "First Lady" was meant for her.

But after confirming that Alexander was blind, she had swiftly abandoned him for someone else.

She even held her wedding on the same day as Alexander and Rebecca, making it a grand spectacle.

Yet, in just three days-only three days!

Right at this homecoming banquet, Alexander had miraculously regained his sight? How could Nancy possibly accept such a cruel twist of fate?

"Alexander, how did your eyes heal?" Nancy asked in an intentionally sweet voice, pretending to be concerned. Notably, she addressed him intimately by his first name.

Alexander lowered his head, lifted Rebecca's hand, and placed a kiss on its back.

He made no effort to hide his affection for Rebecca in front of The Campbell Family, though it was all an act.

Rebecca knew it wasn't real, but her reaction was genuine-she blushed deeply.

"I just took a nap, and when I woke up this morning, my vision was back," Alexander replied nonchalantly.

"That's incredible," Justin muttered in disbelief. He glanced at Alexander, then at Rebecca.

His gaze lingered on Rebecca's face for several seconds before reluctantly looking away.

To be honest, when Rebecca first arrived four years ago, he thought she was nothing more than a country bumpkin.

He had never paid her any attention-she mostly stayed out of sight and didn't even join them for meals.

Both Justin and his sister led extravagant lives, partying all night and sleeping all day.

Justin, busy managing the family business with his father, was often away on business trips.

Since their elders-the ones who arranged the marriage-had passed away, no one had ever mentioned the engagement again.

If he had known she would turn out to be this beautiful, would he have let her go so easily?

Would he have allowed her to live under his roof for four years without making a move?

At this moment, both siblings felt nothing but deep regret.

And that was exactly what Alexander had come here to see.

"Let's eat first, we can talk while we eat," Nancy's father quickly tried to ease the tension.

Throughout the meal, he continuously served Alexander food, making small talk.

"Rebecca, bring your mother a bowl of soup," Mrs. Campbell said with deliberate intention, using it as an excuse to send Rebecca away.

Rebecca stood up, took a bowl, and went into the kitchen.

Taking her cue, Nancy leaned in closer, pretending to show concern for Alexander.

"Alexander, you'll need a follow-up at the hospital, right?"

"Even if your eyes are healed, you shouldn't be careless."

"You know, the night you had your accident, Nancy cried so hard she nearly fainted. Fate is so cruel," Mrs. Campbell chimed in to support her daughter.

Alexander smirked. "Really? She was so heartbroken that she immediately married someone else?"

"Alexander, I know I shouldn't bring this up, but Richard set me up. He drugged my drink at my bachelorette party-I had no choice," Nancy teared up as she spoke.

"And we owed Rebecca's grandfather a great debt. My parents are righteous people; they always wanted to give Rebecca the best. It was our way of repaying our debt."

"Oh, so The Campbell Family is really honorable, huh?" Alexander chuckled.

"A promise from the older generation is worth a thousand gold coins-we couldn't forget it," Nancy's father quickly explained, though his voice wavered.

"But as I heard it, your promise was for Rebecca to marry Justin. And when Justin didn't want her, you just threw her at me? So you used me, an outsider, to pay off your debt? That's some clever maneuvering."

Alexander's casual tone carried a sharp edge, making the The Campbell Family's expressions turn even uglier. He wasn't holding back at all.

Nancy quickly tried to slander Rebecca.

"That's not true, Alexander! Rebecca was the one who asked for it! She was jealous when she found out I was engaged to you. She's always wanted the title of First Lady. And after Richard schemed against me, to save face for The Harody Family, we had no choice but to make this decision. If you don't want her, you can divorce her anytime and kick her out. After all, she..."

"After all, she has no one to rely on, right?" Alexander's cold gaze swept over Nancy's scheming face.

Just then, Rebecca returned, placing the bowl of soup before Mrs. Campbell.

"Mrs. Campbell, here's your soup."

"Ah, thank you, dear," Mrs. Campbell responded warmly, her tone suddenly full of affection.

Justin glanced at Rebecca, his mind already plotting.

"President Harody, if you're not satisfied, you can send her back. We've raised her for four years; a few more won't matter."

"You expect me to return my wife like a package? Wouldn't that make me a joke?" Alexander sneered.

"And besides, you're not even her real family."
