Chapter 4 Ronald's True Motives

With Caroline's revelation haunting her thoughts, Celestine felt the need to confront Ronald. What had he been hiding? What was his role in all of this? Her heart ached at the thought of losing him, but she had no choice

Ronald, what aren't you telling me?" she demanded one night. Her voice was quiet but firm, like steel wrapped in silk.

Ronald hesitated. He'd always been the perfect boyfriend-attentive, charming, and protective. But now, Celestine saw a crack in his facade. He lowered his gaze, unable to meet her eyes. Finally, he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper.

"You're the only one who can stop them now," Caroline said, her voice low and urgent. "Your father is in too deep."

Despite the truth Celestine had uncovered, she wasn't sure if she could trust Ronald. He had been hiding so much from her. But as the pieces of the puzzle fell into place, she realized that Ronald's family was just as involved in the syndicate as hers. His confession came one night after Celestine confronted him in desperation.

"I didn't want you to know, Celestine," Ronald said, his voice strained. "I thought I could keep you safe, but I was wrong. My family's power is tied to yours. If you don't understand that, then everything is going to fall apart."
