Chapter 6 The Wolfsburg Pack

The drive from Moonhaven Kingdom to the Wolfsburg Pack felt like eternity, with Derek constantly stealing glances at Daphne, and he couldn't help but reminisce on the night he met Beatrice. There was something about this Daphne with the memory loss that reminded him so much of Beatrice, and it was her Scent- Mint and Apple.

The first time he met her was when he visited the Wolfsburg Pack with his wife. It was a few minutes past midnight, and he couldn't sleep, so he decided to take a stroll. He had a strange feeling that something bad was about to happen as he shifted and ran through the woods.

He could hear and smell things miles away, from the creaks of the birds to the flapping wings of the butterflies, and so as he strolled in the woods on that fateful night, enjoying the calmness of the night, enjoying the view in the sky-he heard the rustling of leaves, snapping of twigs, and the racing heartbeat of a lady being pursued by two men, so he waited and hid himself till they ran towards his direction, and the scene became clear, he had quietly hidden himself behind a tree.

"Please... Please, don't hurt me," she muttered as she gasped for breath, she had tripped over a jagged stone, and could no longer run, making her attackers catch up to her.

"You thought you could run forever right?" One of the men, tall and burly, spun her around, turning her face to look at his, while his breath came in ragged gasps.

"Help me... someone... please help me," she pleaded, her gaze shifting in the direction of where Derek had hidden himself.

"There is no one to help you here!" The other man barked before he gave her a resounding slap.

"Help her now!" Derek's wolf growled, the beast voice low yet daring.

"But this is not my territory, and why would I even care? She might have stolen something from them, who knows" He scoffed as he tried to convince his wolf.

"Can't you see? Can't you feel the bond? This is your Fated mate," The wolf snarled.

"Please help me..." she said, a ting of hopelessness rising in her voice,this time her legs had betrayed her, and she had fallen to the ground.

"Stand up! you good for nothing," They both chorused, and he watched from behind the tree as they both kicked her, each kick feeling like a punch in his gut.

As they continued to kick her, he felt the pulse of the lady getting weaker and knew that she could really pass away if he didn't intervene, and before his wolf could say any other thing, he stepped out of the shadows- He knew he couldn't watch them kill his Mate.

"What has she done? And why are you hitting her like that?" He asked, trying to maintain a neutral tone, burying the anger he felt within him.

"Do you have a death wish?" One of the attackers asked, his brow furrowed, and his fist rolled into a punch.

He had hoped to be nicer to them,but they wanted it the other way round, and now that the moon was full, he'd tear them into pieces with no trace.

His patience snapped, and then his body began to change: his claws were the first to reveal itself, and his bones began to crack and shifted, his eyes had also turned into a fierce green glow that illuminated the woods.

"Leave this place now!" He commanded, with a growl that vibrated the ground they stood.

"It's the Alpha! It's the Alpha!" They shouted as great panic surged through them, and they took to their heels.

They ran as fast as their legs could carry them, stumbling over themselves in their rush to escape. And Derek quickly rushed to the lady's side, her scent of Mint and Apple was so inviting, he wanted to rip her clothes, and have a taste of her, he wasn't thinking straight. He had always been in control of his below the belt faculty not until tonight- He had lost total control.

But the lady stood up gritting her teeth against the sharp pain she had felt in her leg, she smiled contentedly as she looked Derek in the face before she collapsed.

They eventually got to the Wolfsburg Pack and the door of the car was open for the Royal King and Queen to alight. Immediately they alighted, they were taken to the seat specially prepared for them. Lord Damon recognized their presence and he invited King Derek to come on stage to make a speech since everyone knew they were fated mates.

Derek had not prepared for any speech but he went ahead to say something from his heart. "It is sad to hear of the demise of one of our beloved, he paused and heaved a heavy sigh, he tried to fight the tears, but his eyes were already wet before he continued "and we pray that the moon goddess Selene grants her eternal rest," he concluded, and got off the stage.

But as he was about to get to his seat he noticed some people chattering in the distance. It was more of a commotion and he wondered what could be happening. Everyone's gaze at the occasion shifted to the direction in which the commotion was coming from.

King Derek, Josh, and Lord Damon walked hurriedly to the scene, only to find an unkempt woman wailing uncontrollably, and insisting on getting in stage, that she has something to say about Beatrice's Death, but Lord Damon shut her up, and asked his security men to throw her out, on the streets.

"I think you should let us hear her out," Derek said politely to Lord Damon, as anticipation tingle up his spine.

"What could a mad woman want to possibly say? I don't think this woman," he paused, and pointed at the woman in disgust, "has anything to say." Josh scoffed.

But as a sign of respect to the King, Lord Damon told his security guards to let go of her, and told Josh to lead her to the stage.

Damon hurried back to his seat, and told Daphne, and Harry (who had patiently been waiting to get hints about what had happened where he went) that the woman had something to say, and they didn't want her to.

There was a tug in Beatrice's heart, an overwhelming sense of unease at the sight of the woman. She didn't know who she was, but she was sure her plan was about to be postponed with this strange woman's sudden appearance.

Beatrice had planned to expose Lord Damon's family whenever she was called on stage against the goddess advice, she didn't care about the repercussions. But now that this woman showed up unexpectedly, she didn't know what to make of it.
