Chapter 2 AND WHAT IF I NEVER GET THERE

Sick of it all, I turned to leave.

I wasn't just leaving his house, I knew I was leaving his life, for good. I stopped to look at the red heels that were still on the stairs and glaring. Chuckling, I kicked it out of my way and left the building.

Finding myself on the dark and lonely road, I couldn't help but let my tears flow without any constraint.

"Ajay! After everything this is what I get. What did I ever do wrong that you couldn't bring to my notice?" I muttered.

Bringing down my eyelid, I increased the speed of my car, this time, I just wanted to waste on the roads of New York City. Going home wasn't on my mind. Cause what was at home for me? Just loneliness and fear.

I kept driving without realizing that the corps on duty that night were already following me, doing their best to catch up to me.

I couldn't see what was at the front anymore because my view was blurry due to the non-stop tears. My heart felt as though it was fiercely being pricked with different needles. All I wanted to do was vanish at this point.

Then I saw flickers of a trailer coming my way yet I couldn't process my thoughts. Was I in the right way? I thought as I placed both hands on the steering wheel to control my car, but then had to touch my chest with one hand to try to suppress the pain that seemed to be going on there. I wasn't myself. My whole body was itching me and by the time I looked up, it was already too late.

"Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!" I screamed as I tried to control the situation but then crashed into the huge trailer.

Though I had no idea how, but somehow, I saw myself falling so hard on the floor on the other side of the road.

Grabbing my chest as I hit the floor hard, I looked up and saw my car running over repeatedly.

The trailer didn't stop and just kept going as it felt like I was alone in this world as I stretched my other hand like it could stop my car from destroying completely.

"No! Oh, God!!" I whispered and tried to get up as I staggered towards my car, but I couldn't move an inch more than two steps as I found myself going down to the floor again but this time, I didn't get to the floor.

Was I hanging in the air? I thought to myself as I tried to make my back touch the floor but then felt my whole body in the arms of someone.

I looked up and saw a very handsome and godlike man holding me like I was some princess. His blonde hair moved in sync with the wind that blew.

"This will be the last time you fall. Trust me!" he said to me and I became dumbstruck as I stared at him for what felt like ages. I didn't think I had seen him before. I thought as I tried to touch his face to see if I was dreaming but then I felt his white skin.

He is real! I realized.

Fresh tears streamed down my face as I then turned towards the direction of my car and watched as my car caught fire in my very own eyes, the flames reflecting in my eyeballs.

"Oh no!!!" I wailed, stretching my hands towards the direction as I tried to leave his arms. I couldn't believe this was what I had to deal with today.

If only I had known, I would never have stepped my feet out of my house just so I could fulfill my family's long-time wish. I crawled on the floor, wishing I could get to the fire and burn alongside it. I didn't want to live anymore.

Then I saw different police cars surround me and the strange man behind me.

Not caring, I crawled towards my car, stumbling as I moved but he wouldn't let me successfully get there.

"you have to stop. You can't get there. It's too dangerous for you." I heard him speak to me again as he dragged me back into his arms.

"no, I want to go there. I want to burn alongside my car. After everything I had done to be the best I could be, this is what I got. I feel so bad and I don't want to have to go through this. Let me go, please! I just want to die." I cried to him and felt his breath on my face. Looking up and into his eyes, I could see the comfort but somehow, it wasn't getting to me.

He overpowered me so that I couldn't move past him anymore and I could only watch from afar as my car burnt down while the corps did what they could to ensure it caused no damage in the city.

I felt my breath hitching as I finally allowed myself to relax in the arms of this stranger. I looked up at him and gasped for breath.

"Have you ever been in a position where you felt like you have lost everything you have worked so hard for?" I asked him and expected a reply from him.

He stared at me for long with a smirk on his face.

When I thought he wouldn't reply to me, I then heard him speak to me. "life is a journey. No matter what, keep driving till you get to your destination."

"And what if I never get there?"

"you will be stuck on the way. I am sure you don't want to get stuck on the way," he told me and I blinked my teary eyes as a headache kicked in.

I then started feeling incredibly dizzy all of a sudden. Grabbing his collar, I looked towards the direction of my car and couldn't find it anymore. Could I be dreaming? I thought as my vision suddenly blacked out. Turning my head, I couldn't see a single thing anymore and then I went unconscious.
