Chapter 4 Let's Go Home

Hazel had tried to understand what he meant by meeting his expectations; wasn't he supposed to be disappointed that it wasn't Nady he married?

"It's so hard to understand people," she hissed, and decided to eat, as she was starving.

When she was done, she picked up the dirty plates when a maid hurried to her. "I will take them."

Hazel smiled at the maid, "It's fine, I will..."

"Please, Mrs. Anderson," the maid insisted in a pleading tone. Hazel let her do her job and returned upstairs to the bedroom she was earlier assigned to.

She pushed the door open and found Coyle on the bed; he was now dressed casually, had glasses on, and was focused on reading a document.

"Umm," she stuttered, not able to create a word. Was she supposed to share the bedroom and bed with him?

"Silly me, we are married," Hazel thought, but that was still not enough reason.

"If you are sleepy, then go to bed. Don't stay up on my accord; I will be quiet with my work," Coyle said, not shifting his gaze from the document he was reading.

With a nervous look, Hazel slowly dragged her feet till she was at the other end of the bed, tucked herself in the duvet, and closed her eyes tightly, praying that she sleeps soon.

**

The next morning, Hazel discovered she was the only one in bed. She walked to the bathroom and couldn't spot anyone, so she hurried to the bedroom and spotted Sharon.

"Good morning, Mrs. Anderson. All the gifts are ready; do you wish to check them out?"

Huh? Hazel was confused before she asked, "What gifts?"

"For your family," Sharon replied, and Hazel's brows furrowed. Did they buy gifts for her family?

"Mr. Anderson said he has some urgent work at the office and will be back soon so you could both go visit your family," she explained further, and Hazel had a blank look. Did he really want to go visit her family with her?

No matter how much she tried to understand him, it just got harder. Nothing made sense; wasn't he supposed to be angry and probably sue her family for tricking him?

Didn't he want to marry Nady instead?

"Mrs. Anderson..." The maid took her out of her reverie. Hazel's gaze shifted to Sharon before she nodded.

"Thanks, I will freshen up."

The maid excused herself and left. Hazel spent more than an hour in the bedroom before she walked downstairs with Coyle's gaze stuck on her. She looked so beautiful in the limited edition blue dress he had ordered for her, her natural, beautiful face, which was void of any make-up.

He felt so relieved seeing her, and the thought that she was his wife made him even happier. Their gazes met, and she glanced away.

Coyle signaled the driver, who hurried and parked the car at the entrance as they both got in the car before it took off.

The drive was silent until they arrived at the Jones mansion. The driver stepped out, and Hazel was about to do the same when she realized the door was locked.

"For you" Coyle shoved a jewel box towards her, and she stared at it in disbelief.

"Mine?" she asked as her hands brushed the top of the box, "Why will you get me something?" Her voice was just above a whisper, but he heard her clearly; the question should have been, "Why hasn't he yet given the world to her?" He chuckled and placed the box on her palms.

Slowly, she opened the box, and it was a ring with a heart-shaped diamond; it looked so beautiful and expensive. Nervously, she shoved it back towards him.

"I appreciate it a lot, but..."

Coyle scoffed and pulled her hand forward, took out the ring, and inserted it in her finger.

"I think this is a symbol that a woman is married; if you take it off, then I will make you regret it." He had a playful smile when he said this, but Hazel shivered in fear and felt his words were a threat.

-

When they got to the sitting room, there was no one. Coyle sat comfortably on the couch as he retracted his phone and got busy with the office work he had put on hold just to be here.

Minutes later, Nady walked in with her husband, who carried the gifts they bought.

"Oh, my sweet sister is here." Nady chuckled, then her gaze shifted to Coyle, who didn't acknowledge her presence; her brows furrowed.

"This couldn't be Coyle Anderson, right? It must be one of his workers," Nady thought.

"Babe. Where should I drop the gifts?" Max took her out of her trance, and she smiled and hurried to him.

"You are so kind, babe; you should place the expensive gifts you got for my family over there," she pointed at the table, and Max chuckled before he walked to the table and kept the two boxes he had.

"Max, I am happy you had to pause your work and be here." Nady wrapped her hand around his neck and kissed him.

Hazel looked away as her gaze met Coyle's; he was curious to see her reaction if she was jealous or didn't care. He was told by his assistant that Hazel had once been madly in love with his man and was to marry him.

"Umm, I will get coffee." Hazel stood up to leave when they heard footsteps from upstairs. Mr. and Mrs. Jones walked downstairs with a broad smile.

"Baby," Mrs. Jones hugged Nady tightly and also smiled at Max.

Then she turned to Hazel. "Hazel, was your husband not feeling well enough to come?" Mrs. Jones asked; never for once did it cross her mind that the healthy and good-looking man next to her was her husband.

"Your grandma makes good herbal teas; you should ask her to send some for your husband since he isn't feeling well; you need to be a responsible wife." Her dad added, and Hazel chuckled lightly.

Coyle raised his gaze in confusion. "Excuse me," his voice echoed around the room as they all stared at him.

"Shouldn't my wife be the one not feeling well? I mean, after our numerous activities last night?" He asked, and they all stared at him with confusion visible in their eyes. Nady's gaze moved to Coyle's legs.

"He is Coyle Anderson?" She thought, and her gaze moved to her parents, who shrugged their shoulders; no one knew what he looked like.

"Isn't he crippled?" Max whispered to Nady, who also had the same confused look as him.

They were still in a shocked state with Hazel wondering, "What activities?" They didn't do anything last night, so what was he talking about?

Coyle stood up and checked the time on his expensive Rolex watch before he closed the third button of his tailored designed suit and extended his hand to Hazel.

"Come sweety"

Hazel had a slight blush on her face. She stood up and held his hand, and to her surprise, he wrapped his hand around her waist.

"Sir," a voice echoed from the door. Some men in black suits walked in while holding some boxes.

"What's all this?" Mrs. Jones questioned.

"The gifts, it's not much as my wife was too tired to go shopping," Coyle answered. Nady's gaze shifted from the two boxes of gifts she brought and the big boxes Coyle's men carried.

She felt humiliated, and for a second, her breathing stopped. Her sister was in the arms of this handsome man who claimed to be Coyle Anderson, and he dotted on her so much.

Did she misunderstand everything, or was it just a nightmare?

Coyle's gaze moved to Mr. Jones, and he said, "My wife is so tired and needs to rest, so we will be on our way now."

They both walked towards the car when Coyle whispered to Hazel, "Let's go home."

Hazel felt she was dreaming; if it was a dream, then she definitely didn't want to wake up.

She couldn't understand what Coyle was upto, why he wasn't upset that her family played such a trick with him. was he just pretending not to know? or was it actually what he wanted, so many questions that she wished she knew the response.
