Chapter 4 Haunted Heart

Damon Point of view

I sighed as I drank the beer and poured myself another, I had been like this ever since my girlfriend died, burying myself in my misery and sorrow. My best friend died too, wrecking me completely. I didn't know why but people tend to die around me, and I couldn't allow that anymore which is why I left home to come to a country so far away as Spain. I sort of like Spain with its cobbled streets and population and most of all I liked the matador stuff, I had even considered signing up for it, maybe it would help keep my mind away from the grief. I gulped down the last of my drink and stared ahead, picturing her face.

"Hey!" Someone said behind me and I turned, a beautiful looking lady smiled at me. I ignored her, not particularly interested in chitchat.

"I saw you drinking alone so I decided to join you" she said and I scowled.

"What do you want?" I growled but she didn't look a bit fazed.

"You" she said, "I want you" she said sultrily and I sighed. Maybe this is what I needed right now, to forget about her. I growled and grabbed her and shoved her into a nearby wall and smoldered her lips with mine. I moved lower and bit her neck hard and spun her around and slammed into her and she groaned. I smirked and pulled her hair.

"Let me warn you. I am not going to be gentle" I warned and she nodded as I squeezed her neck and kissed her neck.

"I know, that is why I came to you" she said and I smiled. This was going to be fun. I lifted her into my arms and carried her until we reached an empty room. I threw her unceremoniously to the bed and took off my shirt and then my pants and crashed into her.

"Let me warm you again, sweetheart. I am a beast. I am not going to be gentle" I said and bit her earlobe and she cried out.

I opened my eyes and turned to the side to see the lady from last night fast asleep. I got up from the bed and drank the last of the brandy from yesterday and sighed as the taste warmed my tongue. The lady stirred in her sleep and I shook my head. She was such a masochist, even with all my roughness she still begged me to continue. It kind of surprised me but I had no choice and I had the time of my life. I could still hear her heartbeat, beating slowly and I put on my clothes and suddenly felt her awake.

"Hey" she said. I turned and did a little wave.

"Wakey wakey" I said and tossed back my hair from my face. "Sleeping beauty finally wakes" I said and she smiled.

"Am not sleeping beauty" she said and I nodded.

"Yeah you are not" I said matter-of-factly. "You are just some prostitute" I said and she stared at me, hurt clearly written on her features but I didn't care, this was who I am. My heart had died with my love and I didn't even know how to feel remorse for what I did.

"That was mean" she said and I shrugged and put on my shoes.

"It was. But I don't care" I poured another drink and offered her but she shook her head. I shrugged and smashed the glass on the floor, she glared at me.

"You are a psycho" she said and I stared at her for a moment then I burst into loud mocking laughter.

"You slept with a psycho, and begged him to pound you harder, typical of you" I said and headed for the door.

"Don't bother to look for me" I said, "I might even kill you if I find out you've been stalking me" with that I walked away. I smiled, it feels good to ditch someone like that after sex. The feeling was thrilling.

"Damon'' a soft voice called and I turned to see her, my one true love. Sage. My heart widened in hope even though I knew this wasn't real.

"Sage" I gasped, "Are you....."

"Real? No. This is your doing, you won't let me go. That's why I still appear to you. You have to let me go and move on, find love and...."

"Don't you dare" I growled and she grinned at me.

"Oh Damon, I missed you" she said and I felt hot tears pull at the corner of my eyes.

"Damn you Sage, you weren't supposed to die. I could have saved you" I growled and she smiled.

"I know you are angry with me Damon, but it was meant to be, I was meant to die" Sage said and I shook my head.

"I can't let you go, this is the one piece of you I have left. If I let that go I probably won't see you again" I said and she shook my head.

"Why are you doing this, don't you love me?" I asked and she smiled sadly.

"I do Damon, which is why I want you to move on, letting you keep me here would be selfish" she said and I nodded.

"I love you Damon" she said and I nodded as the tears spilled from my face.

"I love you too Sage" I said and she smiled and looked at the sky.

"I want you to go back home Damon, stop running and someone special is waiting for you. She deserves you more than I do" she said and I stared at her in confusion. I closed my eyes and when I opened them she was gone. I collapsed on my knees.

"Sage! Sage!, Noooo!" I roared in grief and anger. I stood up from the ground and turned, five men were manhandling a lady and I smiled evilly. Perfect! Exactly the people I need to vent my rage on.

"Leave the lady alone" I said and they sneered. One of them walked up to me and sized me up.

"Or what?" He taunted me and I grinned an evil grin that made him even back away.

"Or you die" I said and killed them all. Including the lady I was supposed to save.
