The rest of the day went by in a haze, being surrounded by Ruan's friends who I did not know . But throughout the day we had shared glances at each other and he kept giving me this look that said "this is not over".I was happy, i was shy, i was enthralled, i was excited, i was ready to discover more.
As the night wore on, I yawned, faking the feeling of exhaustion. "I'm heading to bed, guys. Nice meeting you all," I said, trying to sound cheerful despite my annoyance. I was kind of annoyed because it was so late and they didn't look like they were going to sleep anytime soon, so obviously all my plans and expectations for tonight were wasted.
Ruan's friends nodded at my greeting, their eyes lingering on me for a moment before returning to their drinks. "Night, beautiful," one of them said, his voice low and smooth.
I smiled politely and made my way upstairs, my ears still attuned to the conversation below.
"She's so pretty," I heard one of them say, their voices hushed but audible.
"Eyes off her, she's my girl," Ruan's voice warned, a hint of possessiveness creeping into his tone.
I felt a flutter in my chest at his words.
"There's no way she's your girlfriend, she's so hot, you're so lucky, man," another voice chimed in.
Ruan's response sent a thrill through me: "Don't look at her if you don't want to get blind."
I giggled to myself, feeling a little giddy. I loved the idea of a possessive man, I loved when he made it seem like he owned me, I loved it when he got jealous over little things and with what I just heard, it was starting to seem like Ruan was that man, that man that only existed in the stories I read.
As I entered the bedroom, I heard the guys laughing and joking below. I tried to shake off the excitement that I was suddenly feeling, telling myself to focus on sleep. But my mind raced with thoughts of Ruan and the possibilities.
