Chapter 6 You Are Pregnant

Just then, the door slowly swung open.

A blinding light from outside streamed in.

Corinne looked up to find Julian's commanding presence standing at the doorway. "Come out. My mother wants to see you."

Corinne inhaled deeply.

She rose to her feet and locked eyes with Julian. "There's something we need to talk about."

Julian's look was cold. "The only thing worth discussing is our divorce."

"It concerns the divorce," Corinne said urgently.

Julian's eyes narrowed, his mouth setting into a thin line as he awaited her next words.

"I'll agree to the divorce, but I need fifty million."

Corinne was aware her demand sounded outrageous, but it was a necessary move to safeguard her father's assets.

"What makes you think you're worth that much?" Julian let out a scornful laugh.

Corinne clenched her fists. "I might not be, but your bachelor status certainly does."

Julian observed her tense face and the fierce resolve in her eyes. He experienced a brief stir of emotion, but her demand quickly extinguished it.

To him, she was merely a gold digger, willing to trade marriage for money.

She wasn't worth it.

Yet, he needed to resolve his marital status to pursue the woman he intended to marry. He couldn't start his search while still legally tied to Corinne.

Julian scoffed. "Fine. But regarding my mother..."

Corinne understood what he meant. "I will keep our divorce a secret until she's better. I'll make it clear later that it was my fault."

Julian's eyes showed a flicker of acknowledgment before he grunted his agreement.

"First, come see my mother with me, then we go get a divorce."

"And the money..." Corinne reminded him.

Julian's disdain was evident. He said with a sneer, "You think I won't pay? Send me your bank details. I'll make the transfer now."

Shortly after, Corinne received the fifty million from Julian. "Thank you."

Julian didn't even look her way.

She realized Julian now regarded her merely as a shallow gold digger.

But she didn't care.

Her focus was solely on Gibson Group and her father.

What Julian thought of her didn't matter to her.

Julian eventually escorted Corinne to visit Zoey.

Zoey looked quite pale, and Corinne just discovered that Zoey used makeup daily to hide her illness.

They spent some time caring for Zoey. Comforted by the seeming peace between Corinne and Julian, Zoey eventually drifted off to sleep.

Leaving the hospital, Corinne got into Julian's car.

As she settled in, she detected a peculiar scent that made her feel dizzy.

This was strange.

She had never experienced motion sickness before.

However, since she was confined to the room, her body had become unusually sensitive, and she frequently felt nauseous.

The car soon started.

The ride was silent. Julian was not in the mood for conversation, and Corinne wisely chose to remain quiet. Yet, the queasiness in her stomach forced her to close her eyes in an attempt to rest. She tried to block out the uncomfortable feelings.

She started to struggle to breathe. Then, with a sudden halt, she couldn't hold it back any longer and gagged.

Julian gave her a frosty look. "Are you feeling sick from the car?"

Corinne held her stomach, her face turning pale, and shook her head. "No, it's not that. Urgh..."

Julian's face hardened. "Don't throw up. If you do, I'll have to ask you to leave."

Corinne felt terrible, the turmoil in her stomach intensifying. She clutched the door handle, her face pale.

After a moment, she could no longer bear it and asked, "Could you take me to the hospital?"

Julian noticed her pale face and said with a frown, "Okay. Corinne, you better not be playing any tricks."

Corinne managed a weak smile in response.

The driver immediately took a different route, rushing towards the hospital.

Upon arrival, Corinne was quickly taken for a medical examination.

After thirty minutes, the results were in.

Corinne, seated in a chair, was surprised to find Julian still waiting. The doctor glanced at the medical report, then at her, and said, "Ma'am, you don't have stomach problems. You're pregnant."

Corinne gasped. Pregnant?

It felt as if she had been struck by lightning, her body freezing in shock.

Julian's expression darkened, his eyes turning cold. He leaned forward, gripping the edge of the table. "What did you say?" he asked, his voice dangerously low.
