Chapter 4 UNEXPECTED CHANGE

Ayla's POV

Even if my eyes were a little rounder and have a distinctive golden-brown color, everything that makes me attractive vanishes in the presence of my wolf.

I remained speechless when Alpha Liam moved quickly to keep a safe distance between himself and me.

It's my fault as I almost let my wolf take over because of his seduction, not thinking that he can instantly kill me for what I did.

"I-I'm sorry, Alpha. I didn't mean it..." My voice broke, I could even feel my body trembling from fear.

After taking a long breath, Alpha Liam fixed his intense gaze on me while trying to contain his fury at my inappropriate action.

Maybe, he's confused because I am not like any other wolves who can only transform into one under the full moon and can only keep it until it goes away. Anytime I choose, I can shift, and my body will instantly heal just like my deceased mother.

"As anticipated from an outcast!" he exclaimed as he fixed his eyes on me.

His voice has changed significantly, but from what I can tell, he is not upset about what happened and appears to be more intrigued by it.

"Why did you do that, Alpha? I almost..." I wasn't able to finish my words when he cut me off.

"Almost killed me?" He chuckled before adding, "That's impossible! You can't beat me in your wolf form. You can't even give me a small single scratch."

Still, I shook my head in disappointment.

"But my wolf tried to harm you."

"You haven't done anything wrong. You pose no threat to me at all. I'm just amused with what happened."

Despite the fact that I have no idea what was going on, I believed he purposely tried to arouse me for some reason.

Given the opportunity, I covered my body, reclined at the side of the bed, and took a deep breath to slow down my heartbeat.

"I'm really sorry, Alpha Liam. Please forgive me for what I did."

I honestly do not understand why I was apologizing to him but I did it, anyways. It's better than being beaten to pulp by him.

"Do you want me to call you a rebel?" Alpha Liam asked with a wary expression on his face.

"Please, no!"

He spoke again after taking a moment.

"I guess, tyrant sounds better."

"No, Alpha..." I answered while getting rid of my own emotions. "Just make me feel unwanted. Don't call me names like they always do, please," I said softly.

I waited for his response for a few minutes, but all I saw was a smirk from him.

"Is that what you want?"

Our eyes met. There I immediately gave him a nod. "Yes, Alpha. I've spent my entire life hiding from the hatred of the public. Only you took me in...You have no idea how grateful I am because of that."

I feel like I'm about to start crying in his presence, but I have no idea what to do or how to respond.

"Those tears are overwhelming. I guess I'll spare you and those lovely eyes..."

I'm so glad he wasn't being mean to me. He won't even lay me a finger after what I did with my wolf.

"Thank you, Alpha..." I forced a smile. "How can I say it? Perhaps the rumors aren't true after all."

"Rumors?"

I took a deep breath as my lips tried to return into a lovely smile. The Alpha choose to stay calm and even intended to listen to my plea. Therefore, I must ensure that all his questions are answered.

"They say the Alpha was cold, harsh, and distant. According to some, you kill anyone who does not submit to you."

As far as I can recall, Alpha Liam was regarded by everyone in the pack as being cold, harsh, and distant, and was also considered as the most powerful and influential wolf of them all.

He kills anyone who doesn't submit to him, and the pack still suffers from the starvation and stoning he planned for traitors.

He was perceived as being extremely cruel and frightening. No one ever had the guts to challenge him or even make him angry.

However, right now I am disappointing him and eventually preventing him from fulfilling his desires.

Alpha Liam had it all-wealth he received from his parents, a successful business, and a strong pack-yet he appears dissatisfied, especially when the elders nagged at him to find a mate.

Although he is the apple of the eye not only in the pack but also in the business world, he didn't bother taking a second to glance at them.

Is he perhaps, gay?

What is his reason for acting in this way?

I was then surprised by my own thoughts. Good thing, they were just thoughts and I didn't blurt them out.

"Submit?"

Alpha Liam suddenly stood up and crossed his arms over his chest, which caught me off guard.

Although his eyes were still on fire, I could sense him controlling his emotions.

"Will you give me your body, mind, and soul in exchange for my forgiveness, Ayla?"

My heart thudded, I knew this wasn't some sort of a joke. Is it because he got insulted from what I told him?

I gently squeeze my hand in anticipation. What should I do? Perhaps, telling him everything was a poor idea.

"You chose me as your Luna, but that doesn't mean I'll sell my soul to you. You are not a devil to do that, Alpha."

"What if I tell you I am?" he said with a tough face.

I wish I could escape from this hell and disappear from his view so he wouldn't see how ashamed I am.

Once again, Alpha Liam pulled me towards him and kissed me. This time, it wasn't hurried.

He was gentle.

I guess he found out I was a newbie.

My heart began to race and I took a few deep breaths, keeping my emotions under control.

"Are you terrified of me?" he asked.

As I struggled to find the words to respond to him, my lips began to tremble.

He continued to look at me for a few seconds, waiting for my answers.

"Alpha Liam..." I softly called out.

My heart felt like it might burst.

My mind raced with a gazillion questions.

Will he be cancelling the agreement?

What is going to happen to me now?

I am his chosen Luna, but here I am struggling to survive from his dark or should I call, lustful and pretentious world.

"We can probably call it a day."

Alpha Liam suddenly checked his watch, wiped his forehead, and sighed deeply.

"I appreciate you sparing me, Alpha..." I said as I swallowed the lump in my throat.

"What are you talking about? You'll be leaving the Beta's mansion first thing tomorrow morning. I'm simply giving you enough time to prepare."
