Chapter 6 Go and bury him

Bur!ed Alive.

(for miracle)

Episode 6️⃣

... The guards came in their numbers, all looking so hefty and grabbed our shirts all of a sudden and started dragging us to the back of the palace, while all the elders stood up and walked after us. I was crying, shouting, and begging them at the top of my voice but they kept dragging us like g0ats being taken to the slau-ghter.

"Do not forget oh you king that Christ is the King of kings. One day, just one day, and very very soon, you will bow before Him in His presence with your crown on your head" My husband said at the top of his voice as we were being dragged away.

"You're a m@d man. Go to the grave and waggle your tongue there" The king yelled.

I thought about my son, and then my daughter. I watched her in tears as the guards rough-handled her too and how she was struggling to breathe the way one of the guards gripped her shirt. I noticed this when she started coughing and struggling but the guard didn't even care.

"Please, leave her alone, take me instead" My husband begged but none cared to listen.

"Leave my daughter alone" I yelled at the top of my voice, even tried fight!ng the one holding me but the more I fo-ught the more he dragged me.

We were dragged to a narrow bush path and then into the bushes. We got to a spot and we were made to kneel while some guards left for the palace and returned with shovels. My husband prayed and at the same time pleaded with the elders to take him in our place but they refused, and instead mocked him and asked him to call on his God to come to his rescue.

After the guards dug and dug, a guard suddenly appeared and informed the elders

that the king said that my daughter and I should be freed, adding that we must leave that place and even Jogbo with immediate effect.

"What about my husband?" I quizzed staring at the guard who brought the message.

"He's the b@d finger, therefore, he should be cut off. " He said.

" I don't understand" I said with popped eyes.

"Woman, he must be bur!ed alive" He said.

Hearing that, I stood up and I ran toward my husband cos we had knelt apart. I wrapped my hands around his neck and I began to scream.

"No! No!! No!!! This isn't happening. Produce my son and leave my family alone, we will leave your dem0nic village, please" I pleaded in between sobs.

"You see, woman, it is too late to cry when the head is off" One of the elders said.

"You don't have sense. All this while that the king has been warning you, coupled with the different occurrences around you, you still stayed back till now. You're lucky I'm not the king if not, I would have had all of you bur!ed alive" An elder said fuming.

"Thank God you're not" I summoned the courage to say amid tears.

"What joy do you derive, people of Jogbo in drinking human bl00d? But you see this you're about to do, it will podge all of you real hard including the king. Except you produce my son and leave my husband alone"

"Enough woman!" Said one of the guards.

"You do not speak of our great king in such a manner" He added.

"Then produce my son" I yelled as sweat dripped down continuously from my head, hot tears from my eyes, and mucus from my nose as I held onto my husband.

"The w!cked shall never go unpunished. But I put it to you today that, very soon, you will all bow before my God and anyone who refuses to bow will be burnt in the f!res of hel!.

"Not only bow before your God. You still have mouth to talk abi? Guards, hurry up with the digging, let him go and cool off below the earth" Said another elder.

But, what amazed me was that there was this elder who had been standing apart with hands behind him and watching the whole thing without a word. And after a few minutes, he left and returned with water, approached us and dropped it before us.

"I do not have a hand in your de@th o" He said to my husband in whispers as he dropped it.

"Aah, what are you doing? " One of them asked.

"I'm only being human. These people have gone through so much stress and it will not be wise if the man embarks on this kind of journey with a dry throat" He said.

"So, the rest of us are in human? " Asked an elder.

"I did not say that o" He replied shaking his head with hands up and spreaded palms.

After they were done digging, it was time for my husband to be bur!ed alive and the villagers already started to gather to watch the whole thing with their eyes. Layla too was around. She came to us and said to my husband...

"If God is still on the throne, let there be a miracle"

"Amen! " My daughter and I exclaimed at the top of our voices.

And then, all the elders started yelling at Layla to leave us but my husband started singing a worship song and we all joined in singing including Layla. But her mum ran to us with a whip and started whipping her from head down, pushing her away from us.

The elders and the villagers stood there murmuring to themselves and to each other as we started to pray and calling on God to do His wonders.

Some of the guards came and carried my husband after they were done digging, to go put him in the grave. My daughter and I started fight!ng and hitting them and my husband started shouting so loud and calling on God's name.

"God, if it's your will, then let your will be done" He said as he was dropped in the grave.

I grabbed one of the guards by the hand and I bit him so hard from the back and all of a sudden, he hit me on the face with his elbow and I passed out.

I started hearing my daughters cry from afar and when I opened my eyes, she was kneeling beside me crying with eyes so swollen. She paused and hugged me so tight and I asked her what happened. I looked around but there was no one except her, everywhere had become so silent and quiet except for the sound of the birds flying around.

"Where's your father? " I quizzed staring at her but she pointed at a heap of sand beside us and busted into tears again...
