Chapter 4

NYX POV

"It's mine, I'll do the treatment"

While cleaning the wound on my hand, I looked up at Vertex who seriously sat in front of me and grabbed the cotton from me. I stopped him but he still insisted so I gave up.

After I got out of the BR, I went straight to the veranda of my room here at the agency to treat my wound. It's already 11 in the evening but I haven't felt sleepy or tired yet.

"What's on your mind?", Vertex said seriously but kept his eyes on my hand he was treating.

"Yakult", he looked at me amusingly so I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Do you want me to buy you some?"

"No need. I'll buy later"

"It's late. I'll buy it later"

"It's me. I'm also going home to the apartment", I said seriously so we looked at each other. He didn't seem to really like what I was saying.

"I'll go with you"

"No need V. And one more thing, sooner or later you will have to go to BR, Bloodius is calling you"

He took a deep breath and nodded lazily. When he finished treating my wound, I said goodbye to him and so did he.

I hadn't even made it out the door when David and Eirish stopped me. They're both smiling but without humor. I just blankly looked at them and waited to see what they were up to.

They didn't like me from the beginning. The two of them are always questioning the orders given to me by Bloodius as to why I am still here, but in the end they are not listened to. They're on the top 6 and 7.

I don't know if they are in a relationship or what but I always caught them doing sh*ts. I don't know why they don't like me.

"You really suck", David said sarcastically.

"Let's see if you still have a mission today", Eirish said. I smirked at them and tapped their shoulders. I saw the annoyance on their faces so I laughed even more.

"Actually, I will start my new mission tomorrow. You two are moving around, because you are already late. Have a good night."

"I'm hungry bro"

"Annie is close, we're going to eat"

After I came out of 7/11 while sipping on my yakult, I turned to two brothers who were looking inside 7/11. They're wearing rugs. Their whole body is dirty and you will know that they are really street children.

The girl looks so hungry while her brother is struggling with what to do. I felt a pang on my chest and they approached without saying a word. The girl saw me and gasped. His small lips parted and his round eyes widened. She's cute.

"Hi", I greeted them and the boy suddenly became alarmed and quickly hugged his brother, seeming to protect him.

"W-who are you?", said the man. I knelt down to match them both. I smiled at them.

"I won't hurt you. Are you hungry?"

"Yes and---", the boy covered the girl's mouth so she didn't finish what she was saying.

"Go away, we don't know you"

"I'm sister Nyx, are you hungry? Come on, let's go inside and eat."

The boy was about to say something when my eyes caught a car approaching and I saw a man I didn't know holding a gun.

"Sh*t!", I cursed and hugged the two children then rolled around while people I didn't know fired at us. The kids both cried and trembled in fear.

My jaw dropped when he threw a bomb right in front of 7/11 and we were close to it, I quickly stood up and ran away with all my might and at the same time there was a loud explosion...

"Chief, 21 are dead and 10 people were rushed to the hospital"

I woke up because of the noise around. I slowly opened my eyes and coughed because of the little smoke I was inhaling. I also felt a gentle caress on my cheek and when I looked, I saw the girl crying.

"sister wake up p-po", I ignored the pain in my back and legs and immediately got up and hugged the girl. He cried even more and I held on.

"Shhh stop crying, I'm here. I'm safe"

My fist clenched when I saw the dead victims, police and medical health going back and forth. Ashes and broken walls of 7/11 and still a few fires.

" brother sister"

My heart pounded with trepidation and quickly picked up the girl and then looked for the boy. We are in the dark side so we will not be noticed here. I could feel my eyes watering because I couldn't find the boy.

F*ck!

I put the girl down and quickly stomped my feet towards the police. I immediately grabbed the collar of a policeman who looked like we were not too far apart in age and looked at him angrily. His fellow policemen became alert and pointed their guns at me.

The officer was shocked by my sudden action. He looked at me curiously but then it disappeared immediately. I heard the girl's cry.

"Where is the kid? Tell me where the kid is!"

"We didn't se---"

"Then move! Find him! Why are you just standing here!"

"Miss let go of Chief!"

"If you don't let him go, it will hurt"

"Try me then", I said coldly to his colleagues. I saw his lips curl up so I got even more angry.

"Look miss, we didn't really see a boy. So get your f*cking hands off!", he coldly said and my jaw tightened in anger. His blue eyes had no emotions at all.

"When I found out that sis---"

"Brother!", I quickly turned to the girl's place and saw the boy who came up to her and hugged her. I immediately let go of the policeman then quickly approached the two and hugged them.

"Thank God! are you okay?"

"I-I'm fine", answered the boy and moved away from me a bit.

"I won't hurt you. I'll take you home"

"We have nothing to go home with"

"Why?"

"We don't have parents anymore. Dad left us and mom died last month. Our relatives don't want to take us in, so we wander the streets."

My heart melted after hearing their story. I immediately burst into tears and hugged them both and they cried completely.

"Shhh you all, I will be your family from now on. I will take care of you"

"We will take them to the DSWD miss", I looked up and saw that f*cking officer who looked at me boredly. I raised my brow and told him who the f*ck is he.

"I'll adapt them"

"There's a process for that matter miss"

"Do you think in this kind of situation, process matters?", I saw how his co'licensed police officers gasped because of my filthy mouth.

"You'll stay at the police station and if you want to adopt the two children, do it tomorrow legally", he said and turned his back.

I gritted my teeth and killed him in my mind, d*mn him!

"Come with us miss"

I ignored a policeman and looked at the two children.

"We will join them and spend the night there, and tomorrow you will join me"

"Are you sure about us, sister? You don't think we're anything"

"I'm sure of you two. You can trust me", I smiled at them and they immediately hugged me. I hugged them too and caressed their back.

"Let's go..."

"Are you sure about this?"

I turned to Vertex who looked at me seriously. I nod my head lazily and looked at the two children eating with Vera. After what happened last night and we spent the night here at the police station, I called them both to come here and Vertex is mad after I told them what happened.

Right now we are ordering our colleagues to investigate what happened last night. We didn't tell Bloodius what happened.

"You won't change your mind?"

"No more V. I'll take care of the two children"

"How about your work?"

"If I'm not around, I'll call the both of you. Or if you're busy, I'll take them to Sister"

Vertex looked at me more seriously. After that he took a deep breath and looked at the two children. I turned around when the door suddenly opened and their Chief with blue eyes spat out and he was accompanied by a male and female police officer.

His hair is wet and I smell his after shave. He's wearing a white plain shirt that hugged his muscular body and a black pants as well as his black shoes. He looks good, but his face is dark and menacing.

Vera and Vertex also looked at them. I stood up and waited for him to approach. He presented me with some papers and I accepted them. I read what was written and I smiled a little.

My last name belongs to them. I looked at them and smiled and they happily smiled back.

"It's settled. For now, we are still investigating the explosion that happened last night. Congratulations, please excuse us", he is cold and serious, he reminds me of someone.

"Thank you", I muttered and he just nodded and left us. I happily approached the two children and hugged them both.

"No need Vertex" I promised seriously. I approached my car and let the two children enter. I looked at both of them and raised an eyebrow.

"We'll be fine V. Let's meet the next day. I'm tired and I want to rest"

"Yeah, you're tired, so I'll take you there", Vertex continued to insist, making my forehead furrow even more.

"I don't want", I said coldly and finally. Vera shook her head and got into her car. Vertex still stared at me and just sighed.

"When will I win you. We'll go ahead. Be careful", I nodded to him and he got into his car then they both waved and I waved back until they disappeared from my sight.

"Sister, are we leaving?"

"Yes Rex. Let's go home", I smiled at him and ruffled his dark curly hair. I was about to enter when I caught sight of this police chief who was seriously walking towards his BMW.

He seemed to sense my presence so he looked at my place. Our eyes met and I was struck by his cold gaze. He is now wearing his police uniform and it suits him so d*mn well. I swallowed.

"Going home?", I was even surprised when he spoke. I turned around and the two of us were the only people here, so he was really asking me.

"Yeah", I simply replied. He nodded and got into his car. I shrugged my shoulder as he left. I was about to enter inside of my car when suddenly I looked at the end of the parking lot.

There was a single black car there. The window was open and I saw someone there wearing shades. I feel the hair standing on the back of my neck and the weird sensation that I feel that it's been four years since I last felt it.

The window suddenly closed and the car quickly left. I clutched my chest and calmed myself down. Suddenly I felt my eyes watering and my lips trembling.

"V-vladimir..."

"Everything's set"

Hearing Vera's good news from the earpiece made me smile. I put the two guns on my right thigh, plus bullets. I stood up and adjusted my gold silky long dress with a slit on the left side, exposing my long and white legs.

I also wore my black high heels and to complete my look, I let my long black curly hair down. When I was satisfied with the arrangement, I got out of the car and the grand hotel that is only for the rich opened up to me.

Business tycoons are everywhere together with their ladies. Many expensive cars are parked and there are also many guards surrounding the hotel.

"You'll only come out when I'm at a disadvantage", I said coldly and the cold breeze of the evening air passed me.

I didn't answer Vertex anymore and walked inside. I feel their intimate stares and I just smile. When I reached the entrance, I smiled at the guard and showed them my fake invitation. I winked at them and I saw their ears blushed. Men!

When I got inside I was greeted by the beautiful music of the orchestra, people eating and drinking, gambling and performing miracles.

I almost rolled my eyes and luckily I stopped it. A little while later, a man approached. I think he is in his 30s and he has a good build. He's handsome. He smiled at me and I just laughed.

"Bonsoir madame (good evening milady)"

"Bonjour (hello)", I replied and he was amused. I actually studied other languages ​​because they were the words of the rich.

"My pleasure", I smiled seductively and took the drink he was handing and gulped it down. He chuckled and licked his lower lip.

He chuckled again and looked at me hard.

"Better", I said and pinched his cheek and left him. I heard him calling me but I didn't look back. I didn't bring him here, he's a waste of time.

They kept looking at me and some of them complimented me. I ignored them all and rolled my eyes. I don't know why but my heart suddenly beat weird. I shrugged and continued looking around the area.

I stopped midway when my eyes were suddenly fixed on the man at the end wearing a mask, in his eyes and I knew he was looking at me. My breath became rapid and I froze in place. I heard Vertex calling me but I ignored it.

I was surprised when suddenly something exploded and people were in chaos. I became alert and came back to my senses when I saw the masked man walking away but still looking at me. I gritted my teeth and quickly ran to chase the masked man.

I cursed a lot because of people panicking so they blocked my path. I also heard the gunshots but I just focused on him.

"We're coming", Vera said and I just ignored it. Who the hell are you??? I ran as fast as I can and I saw the man's grin when I caught up with him. I fired at him and he moved quickly so he was able to escape. What the f*ck!?

"To slow", I didn't really hear what he said because of the noise around. I smirked and threw a kick at him but he dodged it. I was annoyed when he touched my foot and caressed it so gently that my eyes widened.

"Pervert!", I hissed and raised my right leg then kicked him because he dropped his mask but he quickly turned around and kicked me. I cursed and punched him but he quickly got away and ran.

"You can't escape from me, jerk!"

I quickly took off my shoes and threw a stone at him so hard that he stopped and fell down because he bumped into something. Without further ado, I quickly approached him and made him face me then pointed the gun.

"Got you perver---V-vladimir?..."
