Chapter 7 7

Kayla Jackson

I laid back on the bed and focused my eyes on the ceiling. Actually, I was staring at nothing but just lost in thought. For some weird reason, this place feels safer than Aunt Capella's house.

I tried to turn around but found it difficult to do as I'd eaten too much already.

I decide to just sleep as I have nothing else to do. I've been sold to a man who sees me as his enemy and I dare not roam around because I might end up upsetting him.

I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes but after a few minutes, I found it hard to sleep. The thought of him not eating keeps flashing through my mind and I'm beginning to have this guilty conscience. I ate to my satisfaction but he hasn't.

Getting up from my bed, I put on my slippers and walked out of the room.

"Now, where is his room?" I asked myself in a whisper as I sauntered upstairs, looking around carefully. Finally, I spot a door slightly open and a little light penetrating from there.

I knocked and waited for him to say the word 'come in' but it never came.

Peeping through the door, I saw him standing in front of a bookshelf behind his desk. He held a file in his hand and flipped through the pages. His eyes were so glued to the file intensively as he was so engrossed in it.

What surprised me most was that he was still putting on the same dress as earlier. He hasn't changed into something comfortable. How can he be comfortably working this late in a fitted shirt and pant?- I thought confusedly.

He turned to look at something in his system and then back to the file in his hand. The look on his face was still as cold as ever.

This is a great time, right? I can do it. Yes, you can do it Kyla- I mentally said to myself.

"I must say..." I trailed off, fully entering his office, and stopped in front of his desk. "You've got a nice place here" I added.

It's true though, this place looks so beautiful. I never thought that someone like him could have a great taste. I expect his surroundings to be as cold as he is.

In a swift move, he shut the file in his hands and shot me a hard glare. "What are you doing here?" He asked in a cold tone.

"I don't know. I... I keep asking myself the same question, what am I doing here?" I said to him with all the courage in me but deep down there, I'm very scared.

What if, he beat me up like Aunt Capella always does? This is not even the reason why I'm here, right? I was supposed to ask him if he was going to eat but, I ended up changing the initial plan. I'm now focusing on something else.

I just want to be close to him and know him better- Okay, Kyla, where in the world is that thought coming from?- I mentally asked myself.

I walk around and take a look at the room in admiration. "I find it hard to sleep so, I decided to visit my newly wedded husband who left me to myself immediately we got here" I said, paused for a second, and then continued. "Kyla, are you having a problem settling down in your room? What would you like to eat? Do you want to go for a sightseeing? None of that came from you. At least, act a little bit caring since this is our HONEYMOON" I said, stretching on the word 'honeymoon'

Realizing what I just did yet, I still kept it cool. I can't believe I just said all these things to him. From where did that courage came from, I have no idea.

I decide to sit on one of his couches and stretch my two legs on it. Raising my head to look at him but this man still has the same look on his face.

How could he still have that same cold look on his face? No emotion, no reaction. Just blank.

A very weird human being.

Realizing that all I've been trying to say and do isn't working on him, I decide to do something else. I just want to do something to bring him out of his shelf. And maybe if I get to succeed, I might be able to learn about what transpired between his Dad and mine. Was my Dad and his Dad that very close and, what made him believe that my Dad was the one who killed his father?

"To be honest, I'm kinda bored" I yawned and stretched my hand above my head.

I watched as he slammed the file in his hand on the desk angrily and marched forward. "Get up and leave" he ordered as soon as he stood in front of me.

"What if I refused to leave?" I found myself challenging him. I know I'm slowly going crazy right now because, how in the world did I come up with this idea? Plus, I was never this bold with Aunt Capella.

"Fucking get up and leave my office, NOW!" He barked as he grabbed my wrist and forcefully pulled me up.

I struggled to get his hands off my wrist as his grip was beginning to hurt me but he was too strong for me. I don't know what to do so he can stop when an idea suddenly pops into my head.

"You said you'll never touch me, are you now taking advantage of the situation?" I asked daringly and he instantly stopped hurting me but still didn't let go of my hand. He only stared at me in a way that if a look could kill then, I would have been six feet under the ground by now.

He finally let go of my hand and took a few steps backward. He placed his hands in his pocket whilst I rubbed my wrist gently and sat back on the couch.

"I can see that we're both on the same page now. Why don't I just sit here for a while until I feel sleepy? I promise to leave after that"

"No. I'm busy and I won't tolerate any distraction "

"Distraction? No? Wait, are you now admitting that I have some effect on you?" I asked, pointing my right index finger at him with my eyes widened.

"Hell, No!" He hissed.

"Prove it then. Prove to me that my presence here is not affecting you and let me stay for as long as I want " I said, not knowing if this was going to work. He stood there silently staring at me with a deadly glare on his face.

He suddenly marched forward and crouched down to my level, leaning his face closer to mine.

"W... Wh... What a.. are.. you doing?" I asked, stuttering.

"You can have all the fun now but later on, I will be the one dancing in happiness. By then, I will be very pleased to watch you suffer in my hands and I'm so going to make life miserable for you" he whispered to my ear yet in a threatening tone. His hot breath fanning my cheek and weirdly sent shivers down my spine.

He slowly pulled away, stared dangerously at me one last time, and then walked back to his desk.
