"I am also curious but you don't know the kind of person my husband was, he killed with joy and he found happiness in people's sorrow. How would I possibly go back to someone like that, don't you understand that even his mother hates me". I said to Sarah trying my best to remove the werewolf part from everything I was saying.
"Your husband loves you, you just don't know it because you are scared of him. Remove that fear and go there, do not forget I am by your side." Sarah said to me as I smiled, I had no choice. I would have to go if I ever want to find my triplets I just hope they are safe wherever they are.
Despite the fear that bubbled within me, I knew that I had to face Benjamin and confront him about my pregnancy. I couldn't just keep running and hiding, especially now that my children were missing. I had to find out the truth about what happened to them, and to do that, I needed to face the man responsible.
I spent days planning my journey to the pack's territory, calculating every move and making sure I left no traces behind. I couldn't afford for anyone, especially Benjamin's spies, to find out about my intentions. It was a risky move, but I had no other choice.
In the cover of darkness, I made my way to the edge of the pack's territory. My heart pounded in my chest as I stepped foot onto enemy territory. Every rustle of leaves or distant howl made me more anxious, but I had to steel myself and push forward.
I knew exactly where to find Benjamin. The old oak tree at the center of the pack's territory was our meeting spot, where we used to spend hours talking and dreaming about our future. Now, that once serene place held a sense of dread.
As I approached the tree, my steps became slow and reluctant. I could feel the weight of my decision settling heavily on my shoulders. This was it. The moment that would determine the course of my life and the lives of my children.
When I finally arrived at the oak tree, I saw him standing there, tall and imposing. His eyes locked onto mine and I could see the turmoil swirling within them. He looked a mix of anger, confusion, and something else I couldn't quite decipher.
"Elena," he spoke my name, his voice filled with a mixture of emotions.
"Benjamin," I replied, my voice steady despite the nervousness coursing through me.
"Why are you here?" he asked, his voice laced with skepticism.
"I need to talk to you," I said, taking a deep breath to steady myself. "It's about our children."
His face hardened at the mention of our children, his jaw clenching tightly. "What do you mean 'our children'? You ran away from me, from us. You gave up that right."
I felt a surge of anger rise within me. How dare he try to deny our connection, to wash away our past?
"I ran away because I couldn't bear to be with you anymore, Benjamin," I said, my voice firm. "But that doesn't change the fact that our children are a result of our union. They deserve to know their father."
He stepped towards me, his eyes blazing with anger. "You think you can just walk back into my life and demand things? You abandoned me, Elena. You abandoned all of us."
Tears started to well up in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I had to be strong, for myself and for my children.
"I didn't abandon you, Benjamin. I left because I couldn't handle the way you treated me. You became someone I didn't recognize anymore."
His anger seemed to waver for a moment, replaced by a flicker of remorse. "I...I didn't mean to hurt you, Elena. I let my ambition get the best of me."
"An ambition that made you become vicious at me, I tried Benjamin I just couldn't do it " I said to him trying my best to hid the emotions in.
"I thought you would change me, make me a better me and mostly make me happy but you gave up on me" Benjamin said moving closer to me.
"I guess I wasn't good enough to be by your side and change you" I said.
"I am sorry for not noticing your pain" Benjamin said.
"But it did hurt me, Benjamin," I said, my voice cracking with pent-up emotions. "And now our children are missing. They're out there somewhere, and I need your help to find them."
His eyes widened in shock at the mention of our missing children. "What do you mean they're missing? How did this happen?"
"I don't know exactly what happened, but I believe that someone took them," I explained, desperation seeping into my voice. "I've been searching for them, but I can't do it alone. I need your help, Benjamin. Our children need you."
" And you just expect me to believe you and start searching for invisible kids after so many years, how sure are you that they mine?" Benjamin asked. As I paced closer to him staring deep into his eyes
"100%, they are yours" I whispered to him making him a bit tensed.
"Was that why you hid yourself for so long?" He asked as I felt speechless, how would I explain to him that I also wasn't aware and just wanted to escape from him.
"Because I was scared your mother might kill them". I lied now avoiding his gaze.
"My mother?" He questioned, why is he acting like his mother didn't kill my child, I can't believe he still thinks that child had no connections with him.
" Yes, I would continue to say this all my life, that child was yours and you gave your mother the free will to kill it". I said to him but this time with so much fierce in my voice so he would know I am not scared of saying the truth to his face.
"My mother...did....not ...kill my child!" He exclaimed, I stepped back slowly noticing he was slowly getting angry.
"Ohh, so now it's your child. After the child is dead".I said
"I don't want us to argue about this anymore just agree to find my children and that's all I want". I added.
"What do you mean children, how many kids do you have?" He asked.
"They......" is this the right thing to do , his mother mustn't know I have three sons or she might collect them from me.
"I want you to promise me something ". I said.
"What?" He asked.
"Your mother won't have any rights to them". I said to him, hoping he would agree.
"I promise, just explain to me how they are more than one". He said clearly looking nervous.
"I had triplets, Jeremy, James and John". I said as he looked stunned.
He stood there, frozen for a moment, his gaze distant. I could see the struggle within him, the battle between his old self and the person he had become. Finally, he looked up at me, his eyes filled with determination.
"I will help you find them, Elena," he said, his voice firm. "I won't let anything happen to our children. We may have our differences, but they are a part of me, a part of us."
Relief washed over me. For the first time in a long time, I felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, we could find our children and mend the broken pieces of our family.
