Chapter 7 No.7

Gerald's POV

I sat at my desk and glanced once again at the clock on the wall.

Finally, I couldn't help but lift my hand to interrupt the marketing manager's speech. "Please hold on, Jason. You and Gavin can finalize the remaining plans. I have something else to attend to."

After I finished speaking, I stood up, loosened my tie, and draped it over the seat. Then I grabbed my phone and walked toward the door.

"Please wait, Mr. Locksley." Shocked, Jason rose and caught up with me.

Meanwhile, I opened the office door and found Gavin. He was just about to knock.

"You came just in time. Jason needs to talk to you." I patted Gavin's shoulder. Then I walked past him and strode out of the office.

As the future head of the Locksley family, I managed all the businesses under its name.

The Kircher Group was one of them.

So on this point, I didn't deceive Deloria. I did work at the Kircher Group. Only that I was its president rather than an ordinary employee.

Watching the number on the monitor going down, I breathed a sigh of relief in the elevator.

I really hoped my employees could be more independent.

After starting the car, I called Deloria.

"Gerald?" Deloria's sweet voice came through the phone.

I also heard some noises. It seemed that she wasn't home.

So I asked, "Where are you? I'll go find you."

"I'm out with my friend." Deloria asked, "What's the matter?"

"I need to see you," I said concisely. "When you're done, send me your location, and I'll come pick you up."

Suddenly, I heard the voice of a young, unfamiliar woman on the other end of the phone.

"Is it your husband?"

For some reason, the title pleased me.

I pricked up my ears but didn't hear Deloria's reply.

A few seconds later, Deloria said to me, "I'm done here. I'll send you the location now."

With that, Deloria hung up the phone.

After receiving her message, I immediately drove to the Italian restaurant, parked my car, and texted her.

Soon, I saw Deloria walk out of the restaurant. So I got out of the car and went over.

"Deloria," I called out.

Next to her was a lady with long blonde hair.

"This is Daphne, my bestie," Deloria introduced.

Then she turned her head and said to Daphne, "This is Gerald, my husband."

She blushed right after she finished speaking.

I glanced at Deloria and felt her easily embarrassed. "Hello," I greeted Daphne politely.

Daphne jerked out of her trance and smiled, "Hi, you look really handsome. Deloria has a good eye for men."

Then she looked at Deloria and joked, "I finally know why you had a flash marriage. Turns out your husband is a hunk."

I noticed that Daphne shifted her gaze to my car.

It was a second-hand one I specially bought, costing less than 30,000 dollars.

I knew what Daphne was thinking, but I wouldn't say anything. After all, she was Deloria's friend.

So, I beamed and said, "Deloria and I have something to do, so we gotta get going. Let's meet up another day."

"Sure. Off you go."

Deloria got into my car. After I drove through a few blocks, she finally remembered to ask, "Where are we going?"

"I took a day off today. Let's go pick up your mom and go to my apartment." I said, "We've been married for a few weeks. It's time for you to know where I live."

"Great," Deloria exclaimed. "I'll call her."

Due to heavy traffic, by the time we arrived at Deloria's home, it was already past 11 AM.

I greeted Deloria's mother, Maeve, and led her to my car.

Getting in the car, I said, "Deloria, Maeve must be starving, too. Let's grab a bite first, shall we?"

"Okay, your call."

Half an hour later, I parked the car in front of an elegant French restaurant.

Deloria glanced at the fancy decor and whispered, "Will the dishes be costly?"

Maeve immediately said, "Gerald, let's go somewhere else."

In fact, this high-end French restaurant was owned by my company. I grinned and said to Deloria, "It's newly opened. I heard that it had been providing special offers these days. Let's go in and have a look."

As I spoke, I texted the restaurant manager.

When I entered the restaurant with Deloria and Maeve, the manager promptly walked up to us with enthusiasm.

"Welcome, ladies and gentleman. You are the lucky customers today. We'll give you 80% off."
