Chapter 8 8. Help you

Before Livy had time to react, her body was pulled hard and she was pressed into a chair, the glass she was carrying fell to the floor with a loud shattering sound. Her hands were gripped so she couldn't move, she felt Arthur being so close to her.

The room was still dark, silent, and the only sound was the frantic beating of her heart.

Arthur pressed her wrist really hard and said coldly, "What are you doing here?"

His warm breath flew to her cheeks at that moment, her face immediately flushed red.

After a moment, her heart slowly calmed down, and her panic subsided. She tried to move forward, but the grip on her hand was as strong as iron. Like defense in battle.

Finally she said haltingly, "M-My hands hurts."

The person in front of her looked surprised at her voice. His grip loosened. Arthur didn't let go immediately, but the lamp on the table suddenly flashed and blinded her eyes from the sudden light.

"You ..."

She looked up to see Arthur's shocked face. The face slowly relaxed, its grip released completely as he plopped down into another chair.

Arthur clicked his tongue with a complicated expression. He didn't look at Livy and massaged his temples. "Don't come into my room suddenly next time. I thought ..."

"Do you think I'm a thief?" asked Livy.

Arthur's hand stopped, his tired eyes stared at Livy, but said nothing.

It was obvious that the hands in his grip was very slender and smooth, but he still deliberately pressed it very hard. He didn't think that it was Livy before. The dark room and his hazy eyes could not determine what was in front of him at that moment.

Arthur took Livy's hand and rubbed it. "Does this hurt?"

"No."

There was no way it wouldn't hurt because Arthur was suppressing her with excess force like he was facing an enemy. Even Livy was sure that just as little as Arthur put in his strength, her bones would soon be crushed.

From the direction of the door, two housemaids rushed in. Maybe because they heard the commotion, they came right away. It was a male and female maid. They both looked panicked, but as soon as they saw Arthur's cold face and the piercing gaze on them, they knew their boss was angry.

The manservant still dared to ask, "Young Master, I heard a commotion and immediately ran over here. Are you all right?"

Arthur didn't answer. His movement subconsciously rubbed the bruises that had begun to form on Livy's wrists rather slow, making Livy amused and embarrassed. The man saw this happening and felt like leaving immediately because he was in the wrong place.

Luckily another maid saw a broken glass on the floor. "I-I'll clean up the floor mess."

Livy also saw her warm ginger drink go to waste. "Sorry, it's my fault."

"No problem." The maidservant was very gentle and immediately squatted down. "This water is still hot, is your hand burnt, Young Lady?"

The maid saw Arthur didn't let go of Livy's hand, so this conjecture popped into her head.

"No. I'm fine." Livy turned to Arthur and said, "My hand doesn't hurt, really. I'm sorry for just walking into your room. I shouldn't have gone in if I wasn't allowed, right?"

The housemaids were stunned to hear this. Why does a 'wife' need permission to enter her husband's room? After all, why are they in separate rooms?

The maid was new to this house, she didn't really understand Arthur's character. But many senior servants told her not to ask too many questions about their master's oddity, or else she wanted to be fired.

The maid only knew that Arthur was a cold and quiet man. Beyond that, she heard that Arthur was very intolerant of any faults.

After the shards were cleared, the two housemaids left.

"You have to apply some ointment," Arthur said.

"Eh? What? It really doesn't hurt. Really!"

Arthur looked at her with a frown on his forehead. He knew his own strength, and he pressed Livy's hands with great force, it must be painful for women.

Arthur let go of Livy's hand. "Okay."

Because of the adrenaline just now, the pain in his head that had almost disappeared, finally returned. He massaged his temples slowly and his eyes closed. The light from the table lamp wasn't bright enough, but it was enough to cast a shadow on his face and the soft light made his skin look so beautiful.

Even though his face was pale, his good looks didn't disappear in the slightest.

He is gorgeous.

"Are you sick? Your face is so pale." Livy said regretfully. "I'm really sorry, if only I had known you were sick, I ... wouldn't have bothered you."

Arthur's eyes were open, the membranes in his eyes still making a unique tint. He looked at Livy without saying anything.

"Eum ... s-sorry, if I'm being rude."

Arthur didn't have time to digest the words, the cold hand first touched his burning hot forehead. This sudden cold sensation relaxed him, the raging heat and headache faded a little. But the hand quickly left.

"Oh my! How could it be like this? You have a high fever." Livy was worried.

"I'm fine."

Seeing her reaction, Livy didn't seem to know he was sick, which meant that none of the maids informed her according to his instructions. However Livy wouldn't have dared to enter if someone had warned her either, so what was she doing here?

Livy stood up hastily. "I-I ... I'll take something to bring your fever down."

"I've taken my medicine," Arthur said calmly.

Livy sat down again and her worried look almost bore a hole in Arthur's face. "B-But you're burning up. Why didn't you tell me if you were this sick?"

Arthur felt strange at this sentence, he opened his eyes again, only to see the face in front of him dimly.

"Have you eaten something? How are you feeling? Your head hurts? Do you need a massage?" Livy panicked. "Ah, doctor! Should I call the doctor?"

Her aunt once said that Arthur was sickly, could it be that now he has a relapse and needs medical help? Livy couldn't help but feel anxious and she didn't know what to do first.

She tried to hold Arthur's hand and it was as hot as his forehead.

Arthur gently removed her hand. "So, what's your purpose in my room?"

"Th-That ..." Livy recalled her ginger drink again. "I meant to give you a warm drink, but that's in vain now."

"You don't have to do it next time. You can send a maid."

"I'm sorry," Livy said, looking down.

Seeing Livy gloomy, Arthur felt a little guilty. "If I need anything, maybe I can let you make another warm drink sometime."

"Is that true?" Livy smiled. "How about now? Do you want it to warm you up a bit? Ginger drink is good for health."

Seeing the smile on Livy's excited face, Arthur felt he had to avert his eyes immediately. He just muttered lowly and continued, "No need. Just wanna sleep. Can you come out?"

Livy bit her lip. For some reason she felt very worried knowing he was sick. It was as if when she left, he would disappear at any moment.

"Are you okay alone?" Livy asked suddenly.

"Mn."

Livy still didn't want to leave. "Are you mad at me?"

"Why am I?"

"I trespassed into your room and shocked you. Even if you attacked me back then, I can't blame you, it was completely my fault."

Currently Livy displayed a weak, helpless figure who was being abused, on the other hand she realized her mistake for not wanting to be scolded. This sight was really funny to Arthur. Sure enough, his anger just a moment ago had dissipated.

Even his mood had improved somewhat.

"I'm not angry." Arthur stroked her hair gently.

It was a sudden move, Livy's heart was unprepared and she was immediately shocked. She looked up and at the same time Arthur was 'gazing' at her. That gaze was so gentle, it was as if Arthur's defensiveness that had almost crushed her bones before was just an illusion. This was the real Arthur.

Livy wondered if her face had turned red at that moment. Why ... why did she feel more nervous now?

Arthur noticed something strange and let go of Livy's hair. "Why are you silent?"

"Oh, that ..."

Arthur was still looking at her and all that time Livy's heart almost exploded with nervousness.

"You're not here just to bring me a warm drink, are you? Is there anything you want to talk about?"

Precisely!

But why does it sound like Livy is coming over and being nice just because she needs something?

No problem.

She did need to talk about her cousin, she had almost forgotten this. She expected Arthur to firmly reject this idea. So that she has a reason to keep Brenda from coming.

"Look, my cousin wants to stay here for the rest of her school's vacation. What do you think?" Livy asked hesitantly.

Arthur returned the question. "Then what do you think?"

Livy was confused.

"We're married and this is also your home now. At least you can decide for yourself."

Actually Livy didn't want to let them come!

"Don't you want her to come?" Arthur asked, guessing exactly what was going through her head.

"I actually ..."

"I know." Arthur cut off her words. "I know your relationship with them is not good. As I said, this is also the house you live in now, you can decide. If you are not comfortable, then don't invite anyone."

"I'm not comfortable." Livy told the truth.

"Then don't."

After a while she said again, "Can I say that you don't agree? I mean, when I tell auntie, I will use your name to reject her. Do you mind?"

Arthur didn't care about that so he agreed.

In the end, Livy told her aunt just as she came out of Arthur's room. As expected, her aunt was angry.

"He's so arrogant. Isn't it natural that so many people reject him?" Camille sneered. "He's about to die, why doesn't he do much good?"

'And you're old, why don't you remember that you too can die at any moment?!' Livy sneered inwardly.

"Auntie, this is his house, he has full authority!" he said.

"You are his wife now, it is also your home, you have the authority." Camille emphasized. "If he dies later, all the wealth fall into your hands too. This is only your cousin who will stay overnight, why is he so stingy?"

Livy didn't know that her aunt was worried right now.

Camile said again, "Listen, you have to be more strict with your rights and authority too. You have to assert that you are also entitled to his property because you are his wife. You are not working now, ask him if you will get enough monthly money. You too gotta get it!"

Livy wanted to curse her aunt to death, but her words remained calm, "That's up to him. Actually I'm still working, so I don't always need money from him."

"What the hell are you saying, huh? Why are you so stupid?! If you don't want money, your aunt needs it. Brenda has always taken good care of you too, don't you want to share with her?"

No, Livy thought to herself.

"Listen to me, Livy. Your cousin is currently being nice to keep you company and you are like this!"

"Auntie, I told you that it was ..."

"Alright, alright, I'll let you go for now. But I can't wait any longer. So, here you go, make sure that you can get some of the property or get at least your monthly money from your husband's obligations. After that send it to aunt every month, ok?" Camille was excited. "One more thing, Brenda has to change schools at the end of the semester, please help her take care of everything. She needs a lot of money."

"Change schools? Why?"

"Why else? Her sister married a rich man, how could she ever go to school in that ugly place again. She need a good future!"

Livy sighed wearily. She had guessed!

"Auntie, Arthur called me. I'll call you later."

After saying that, Livy heard her aunt nagging at her words, but she immediately hung up coldly.

When she returned to Arthur's room, he was still in the same position as last time, his eyes tightly closed. Livy came over and saw if he was sleeping.

Perhaps because of the fever, his lips were dry and pale, his cheeks were red and his brows furrowed uncomfortably. Livy touched his forehead once more and still felt the same heat.

"Arthur, you can't sleep here. Come on, lie down on the bed." Livy patted his shoulder gently.

Arthur opened his eyes, looking so weak. He wasn't really sleeping, but he was so groggy he didn't want to move. As he was about to get up, his bones ached and he remembered that he had been unable to move freely for a while.

"Can you come out? I'll sleep after this." His voice was hoarse.

Livy said, "I'll go after making sure you're lying down well."

Livy didn't expect that she would actually be kicked out. She wanted to take care of Arthur and stay by his side until his fever went down. It was the only way to get rid of her worries.

Seeing Arthur not answering and not moving, she asked, "Are you feeling weak? Ah, I'll help you then."

A slender and delicate hand suddenly wrapped around his shoulder, his hand was placed on her shoulder, his brow furrowed.

Even though he was thin, for a male he was quite heavy, moreover Livy's body was also slim and small.

But seeing her manage to drag him onto the bed, Arthur felt he was underestimating women.

"You go to sleep. I'll stay with you here," Livy said without hesitation.

Arthur's gaze turned cold.

"Why?" Before Livy answered, he continued, "Do I allow you to stay in this room?"

... to be continued ...
