Chapter 5 A Farce of the Past

Anna awoke from a daze. It had seemed to her that they had been driving for hours. Anna could now see the entrance of her neighborhood approaching. Beautiful, green, coconut trees; towered above the buildings, blatantly exposing their ripened fruit. She couldn't help but think of how nice it would be to have some coconut water right about now. Anna was parched and her throat was kind of sore from all the squealing she had done. With such squealing she could have been easily mistaken for a virgin even though she had given birth before.

Anna had two sons by her ex husband Ivan. She hoped the boys would not be home from school yet. She needed time to sort out what was going on in her mind. Memories of her horrid past flashed before her eyes and she stared solemnly into nothingness.

Anna had been making extra attempts to remain celibate, ever since the divorce from her dreadful ex, Ivan. She had suffered so much during that marriage. Although it ended with the death of Anna's father Jacob by the hands of Ivan, she was lucky to still be alive to tell the story.

Anna was now separated from Ivan by the bars of prison, yet fear consumed her every waking moment as she wondered if he would ever appear again. She hated even referring to him as ex husband for she never forgave herself for being so stupid to marry someone whom she had not even an inkling of desire for.

Ivan had manipulated young Anna into a marriage that he knew she didn't want. He used her religion at the time to play mind games and insure her that this was , "The will of God".

Anna never was fond of overweight guys, however she did believe he was nice at first. He had even used his weight as a pawn to guilt trip Anna into marrying him.

Anna was very hesitant and as a final resort Ivan cried tears of supposed pain and misery at being so lonely. Ivan expressed how he was often judged by women and turned down by their shallow views due to his weight.

Little did Anna know that this was all a farce that was used to play on her generous, foolish and all too naive heart. Therefore, Anna sacrificed her own happiness for the sake of Ivan's desire not having the slightest idea of what dreadfully awaited her.
