Chapter 3 3

Alpha Zachary

Once we reached the lake house, I saw something in the dark near the bushes. I thought it was an enemy or intruder. I walked out of the limo, and my Beta was next to me. "Hey, listen. Something there."

He stepped in front of me, trying to catch that thing, and then said, "It's safe! It looks like a tiny animal is..." And he suddenly paused and turned his head to me in a weird look.

I narrowed my eyes and asked, "What is it?"

My beta ushered me to follow him slowly; I sneaked, and I was shocked to see a creature that seemed like a werewolf but was tiny on the ground eating grass! With filthy, ripped clothes, it looked like he had been living alone for a while.

As an Alpha, that made me worry about my pack! I was supposed to take care of all my people. I felt embarrassed by myself that I had been away for a while and didn't know that some of my people were that hungry, miserable, and desperate.

So I placed my hand over that werewolf's shoulder, and that made him gasp. I gasped as well when I saw the eyes and asked, "What the hell are you?" I asked, immediately shocked and confused. But what made me step back when I noticed the boobies? I cursed loudly, "Fuck, dammit! Are you a she-wolf? Do you belong to that pack? What are you?" And I guess that humiliated her and hurt her feelings. Her tears streamed down her cheeks immediately, as if she had heard those words all her life.

I muttered, "I'm sorry; I didn't mean to insult you. It's just..." I frowned and rubbed my chin, then pulled her arms to get her to stand up on her feet. She didn't say a word. She just sobbed all the time. I patted her head, "calm down. Stop crying. Are you hungry?"

She nodded while lowering her gaze to the floor; oh, sure, she didn't want to scare me with her eyes again. Honestly, the color of her eyes didn't scare me; it's just weird to see a she-wolf with different colored eyes.

I coughed, "I want to hear your voice; are you hungry?"

She said in a shallow voice, "Yes, I'm starving."

Without even saying that she was starving, that was obvious to the blind. She was eating grass, for goodness sake!

I offered immediately, "Okay, you can come and eat in my house."

She raised her head slowly, glaring at me, then turned her head away again. I joked, trying to break the ice, "I have no intention to eat a piece of you. You can go anytime you want."

She didn't reply; she fiddled with her fingers nervously, but it seemed like she agreed. I sighed profoundly, feeling sorry for the way she looked; honestly, it broke my heart, and I was already broken after losing my unborn baby.

I pulled her hand and said, "Okay, come with us then."

That made her stiff for a while. I had no idea why it came to my mind that her body reaction was a result of her being abused before.

I gestured to my beta, "Tell her who I am."

My beta bowed his head royally to me and said, "He is our Alpha Zachary, the Alpha of our pack." And I'm the beta. So it's our duty to take care of and protect our people."

And suddenly she kneeled in front of us and started talking in a sobbing tone, pleading, "Alpha, please save my life. They abused me. They treated me like a slave and wanted to rape me. My mom hates me because my father is a bear shifter and I have nowhere to go. Please help me."

I pulled her to stand up and cupped her cheeks, saying, "You're under my protection from now on." I snapped my fingers at my Beta and said, "Tell the driver to go now, and you can go too. Come in the morning with new clothes for her." He bowed and left.

I dragged her inside the house; there was no one there already, but servants always cleaned it and stocked it with food, and I had my clothes there too. I turned on the lights; she was plastered in place by the door. I pushed her slightly inside and shut the door behind us. "Please come in. Feel free as if it were your home."

She mumbled, "I have no home."

"It's yours now," I blurted out without hesitation. She looked so lonely and broken. But I owned most of the land around and a lot of houses everywhere, not just in my pack. So I meant my words. I gave her that house.

If only I could see her face! She kept hiding her face and her eyes from me all the time. I pulled her hand inside, and I walked to the kitchen and said, "Sit here. I will prepare some food for you, and then we can talk later."

She just nodded mutely and sat on a couch without moving or even raising her head. She kept her eyes on her lap.

I prepared a fast but big meat meal for her immediately. I served it on two plates only for her. Then I said to her, "Please eat it all. And if you want more, tell me or go to the kitchen or the fridge and have whatever you want. It's all yours."

She started eating like a pig! It was a disgusting scene, honestly. I walked to my room to check if it was clean or not. Honestly, I had no idea where she would sleep. Because that house was big but not enough, it was designed as one living room, a huge master bedroom with shower room and bathroom, and an open kitchen off the living room, and that's it! But after thinking, I thought she might need a real bed, and I could sleep on the couch that night.

I stayed in the room for a while because watching her eat like a pig made me feel like throwing up. After half an hour, I walked out of the room to check on her, and there was no noise at all. She was washing the dishes. I raised my hand, "no, leave it there. Don't do anything. You're my guest."

She shook her head without looking at me and said, "No, sorry, Alpha. But it's so generous of you to offer me food and a place to stay already. Please let me be your maid. Please."

I crossed my arms over my chest and said firmly to her, "I said, leave the dishes now."

She almost flinched; the dish fell from her hand and shattered into pieces. She bent down to clean up the mess. But I placed my hand on her head and said, "Get up now." I almost yelled. She did; I only pointed to the room and said, "Go inside that room and take a shower. You can use any of my sleeping clothes. Go now."

She obeyed without rejecting, and I bent down, cleaning the mess instead of her.

Until she came out of the room! I became speechless! My eyes widened, and my heart throbbed quickly in my chest. My tongue tangled inside my mouth as if I had lost the ability to speak. What the hell had happened? Who the hell was she?! She looked breathtaking; I had never seen a beauty like her in my entire life!
