Chapter 6 Betrayal

DARK REGION PACK

"I don't... I don't think Alinta would ever forgive us," Luna Hyacinth said, her face pale. She had not been able to sleep for the past day due to the pack's sudden decision.

She considered Alinta to be a real friend. The girl had a cool and carefree personality, but she knew how to assist those in need. She would help with whatever she had as long as she was treated well.

As a result, when her husband agreed to the pack's wishes, Luna Hyacinth felt guilty.

But, despite her inner protest, Luna Hyacinth knew that between friendship and the pack, she had to choose the latter.

Alpha Drake remained emotionless as he watched his pack members rummaging through Alinta's room. He had already given his words, and there was no turning back.

He was grateful to Alinta as well. He had chosen Luna Hyacinth as his mate, and while he had accepted the fact that he couldn't have an heir, he hoped that one day, Luna Hyacinth would bear him one. Thankfully, Alinta arrived and broke the curse. And just when they thought they would have to wait centuries for Luna Hyacinth to conceive, Alinta performed another miracle. Alinta concocted a medicine that could easily get someone pregnant. How could they not be tempted?

He was initially hesitant to agree with the pack's wishes to drive Alinta away from the pack while thinking about getting the medicine from her. But, later on, he quickly agreed.

Although Alinta was a helpful being, defeating several rogues and women with evil intentions--- what the pack needed was to increase their declining population. As of the moment, only 150 of the original 300 members remain. Coupled with the fact that women were scarce and birthing was difficult, it was estimated that the Dark Region Pack would cease to exist after about two decades.

If only Alinta agreed to take Tyler and a couple of men as her mates, despite the pack members' dislike for her, they wouldn't dare to come up with such an idea. Even if they did, Alpha Drake would be able to protect her. And not to mention, because she refused to share the medicine with the pack's women, the pack inevitably despised her.

She had been living with the pack for over three years, yet she refused to help. She was an ingrate, and the pack didn't need someone like her under their wings.

"You don't have to be concerned about that," Alpha Drake said softly to his mate. "Rather, Alinta should be grateful to us for introducing her to the alpha of the Blood Clad Pack."

Before embarking on the journey, Alpha Drake instructed Lake to ensure that the Blood Clad Pack could get a glimpse of Alinta before reaching the summit. They wouldn't be able to take her down if she suddenly returned, knowing they had taken her belongings without her knowledge. If the Blood Clad Pack's alpha were more powerful than her, as Alpha Drake was expecting, and showed interest in her, they would finally be able to get rid of her.

If not, then there was still another plan to lose Alinta finally.

"I'm not feeling well. You know how stubborn that girl was. She despised having multiple men and insisted on only having one. I don't know what her parents thought when they raised her like that," Luna Hyacinth said helplessly.

She had no idea why Alinta despised the idea of having multiple husbands. It was the norm in this world. How could she despise it?

"There is no way she would agree to become Alpha Severino's mate on the spot," Luna Hyacinth continued.

Alpha Drake harrumphed. "It depends on whether she can stand up to Alpha Severino. Alpha Severino is an entity that even the elders cannot touch. No matter how powerful she seems, how could she match him?"

Luna Hyacinth breathed a sigh of relief. Aside from the guilt, her main concern was Alinta's retaliation. She'd known the girl for three years. She had an intuitive understanding of what kind of person Alinta was. If Alpha Severino could subdue her, that was a good thing. Knowing Alpha Severino, he would force her to accompany them. Alinta would no longer need to enter the Dark Region Pack again.

"Alpha! Luna! I found the medicine! "A werewolf exclaimed joyfully. Three bottles of medicine were in his hand. It was similar to the bottle of medicine that Alinta had given to Luna Hyacinth a year before. There was also a box with the same medication.

The matter of Alinta vanished from their minds in an instant. As they approached the werewolf holding the bottle, alpha and luna gasped with delight.

"Immediately! Call the pack's women immediately! They must consume the medication right away!"

Alpha Drake's thoughts were suddenly drawn to a future in which the Dark Region Pack was striving. He couldn't help but anticipate the future of their pack--a brighter future!

Their greed and thirst for power could no longer be hidden.

---

Meanwhile, a carriage was being driven quickly through a dense forest. Lake's face was dark, and his eyes were red as he whipped the horses to propel them faster.

Alinta had already fallen asleep. She was so exhausted from fighting off Alpha Severino's powerful pressure that she didn't even notice how fast their carriage was moving.

This allowed Lake to take the carriage to the nearest rogues' camp. He had already waited an hour, but there was no sign of the Blood Clad Pack approaching Alinta. He had no choice but to abandon Alinta to the rogues.

One kilometre. One more kilometre, and they would finally reach the camp.

Lake's face contorted viciously.

Alinta shouldn't hold it against him. Instead, the girl should blame herself for being selfish. She knew how important birthing was in a pack, but she refused to share the medicine and even refused to become their pack's female.

They had already been generous enough to allow her to remain in their territory for three years. It was time for her to leave.

It didn't take one hour for them to reach the camp finally.

Lake came to a halt a hundred meters away from the rogues, far enough for them to detect Alinta's presence.

With his keen eyes, he could see over a hundred tents situated in the camp.

Their numbers were enough to shred Alinta to smithereens.

With one final look at the carriage, Lake left the place with a sneer.

---

ALINTA DEVEREAUX

A massive bonfire in the centre, several scarred black werewolves howling, and at least twenty women humming and chanting. And the breeze dances along with their unappealing melody.

Men, who hadn't transformed into werewolves, sang along with the women as they drank their booze happily. Their faces were not attractive, but they could not be considered ugly. Only their fights against various packs left them rough-looking and scarred. Regardless, they appeared to treat their women well and lavishly spoil them.

The women here were more beautiful than those in Dark Region Pack. They were also more approachable and less competitive.

I wonder why that was.

As for me, I was sitting on a log next to a red-haired woman. My beautiful face lit up by the fire. I would occasionally hum with them or converse with whoever was interested in talking with me.

If you're curious about what happened to me before this, I'm pleased to inform you.

---

More than an hour ago.

I was startled awake by a sudden jolt in my carriage. Ney, who was I kidding? That wasn't just a jolt. It was more of a huge shock. When the carriage was hit, I was thrown out. It was suddenly blown to pieces, and my body was thrown heavily to the ground.

I have to admit. That was excruciatingly painful. I almost thought my bones had cracked and dislocated.

I stood up to find myself surrounded by werewolves, and the women were staring at me as if I were a disaster.

The werewolves didn't seem part of a pack, and the women held talismans while waiting for the right moment to attack me.

I immediately got it. I was in the rogue's territory.

"Witch! Which pack sent you here!" a huge man standing in the middle, just ten meters away from me, growled.

I smiled and raised both my hands. "No one."

"Lies!" exclaimed the redhead woman standing beside the huge man. She was stunning, I had to say. If I were a man, she would be my type.

Hmmm...

Let me guess. Those two were mates.

"You have the aura of a particular pack and the smell from a gamma! You cannot deceive us!" the redhead woman continued while snarling.

"Oh, yes. I'm currently living with the Dark Region Pack. Have you, perhaps, seen my companion?" I inquired, suddenly reminded that I had a companion before these scumbags interrupted my sleep.

The huge man's eyes squinted and darkened even more. The name of the pack that I had just mentioned didn't seem to sit well with him.

"Kill this woman!" he commanded in a low but threatening tone.

I sighed.

Where was the love and care for a woman? Why wasn't I feeling it? It was the polar opposite of how the Dark Region Pack had treated me the first time they saw me.

As soon as the command was given, all the werewolves in the area attacked me.

How disappointing.

They didn't even have a gentlemanly demeanour. I was a woman, alone and in distress, and their first thought was to kill rather than help me.

Don't I look beautiful enough to make their hearts beat tenderly and softly?

I felt sad. And offended.

Raising my hand, the first batch of werewolves were thrown away and heavily embedded on the ground. Cracking and whimpering instantly filled the air.

I raised my chin with pride. They should feel the same pain I did.

As for the second batch, their soft furs were burned to ashes.

I couldn't help but cringe at their hideous appearance. A dog's beauty would undoubtedly be diminished if it lacked fur.

"Take a step back! Let us deal with her!" yelled the redhead woman. She looked at the five women who accompanied her, and then, they all raised their talismans.

As they were witches like me, I respectfully waited for them to finish their chants. Their eyes were curious and frowning as they chanted, thinking how stupid I was for not interfering with their chants.

They finally finished their spell after a minute and a half. My eyes widened as I gasped in surprise. Who would have guessed that there were summoners in this world? Even though the objects they summoned were weaklings, it was still incredible to see summoners in this world.

Two fire lions, a water serpent, a massive tree with eyes and a mouth, and a huge wind eagle. They were all enormous and terrifying to look at.

"Let's see if you can still get out of here alive," the red-haired woman sneered.

I smiled once more. "You, women in this territory, deserve to be called witches."

After saying those words, I demonstrated what it truly means to be a witch.
