What happened to all my 10 sources of living was snatched away from me in the blink of an eye. Was it dad? He was the only one that complained about my numerous jobs ,but he wouldn't do such a thing .
He might have been sad yesterday about my jobs ,but he would never take them away from me ,he understands me and always supports my decision , someone else did this but who .
My mind was blank ,I had so many enemies ,but no one to point a finger on ,who would even admit it.
I took a deep breath and walked into the palace ,the last place of work and my biggest hope , they all fired me and none of them paid me except for madame Habibat,she also warned me to be careful around the royalties.
What was my business with them?I know none of them nor have I seen them.I only work and leave the palace. Ordinary maids aren't even allowed to see the royalties except for their guests and high maids.
"Good morning madam Kabira ,I greeted with my heart pounding in my chest ,I don't think I would still be conscious if I hear those three words again.
"Morning Nanuet, there's some news I would like to share with you ," she said and my breath hitched my head spinning ,my heart beat increased like crazy .
"You can no longer work here ," she dropped the bombshell and I staggered backward clutching my stomach really tight.I felt nausea.I held on to the wall for support. It felt like I was gonna pass out any minute.
"Are you okay?" Madame Kabira asked if worry could clearly be seen on her face .
"Am fine ,I managed to say ,tears came pouring down my face ,I just couldn't hold it anymore.
"What's wrong Naunet?"she asked, holding my hand.
"Come sit ,she directed me to a stool and I sat, trying so hard to stop my tears but it just kept flowing.
"Ma......dame....ple...ase....help...me ,I choked on my words ,this got her more scared ,she rushed to bring water from the cupboard that makes things cold ,she handed it to me and I drank it all at once .
"Breath Naunet breath it's fine ," she said soothingly. I was surprised by the way she treated me with care.
I relaxed myself and took in some deep breaths like she said and when I was calm ,I went on my knees , pleading with her to not take my job away from me .
"Madame, please take my job away from me ,I use it to feed my parents , please give me more work I will do ,all my work they have taken it away from me , please don't take this one ," I begged crying as I cuddled on her legs for support.
"No Nanuet I am not taking your job away from you ,an order from above came this morning to me , that you can no longer work here because you have been appointed at the prince's private mansion as a full time maid and your pay will be doubled , madame Kabira explained .
I paused for a while thinking about what the word appointed means ,I cleaned my tears and stood up .
"I don't know what you are saying," I said hoping she would explain.
"I mean the queen has appointed you to work at the prince's private mansion,you can work in the prince mansion and your money will be more than what you earn here ," she explained and my face beamed.I was so happy I had no idea when I hugged her .
But then I realized what I had done and quickly comforted myself ,but she only smiled and opened her arms wide for me.I immediately hugged her ,she hugged me back patting my hair.
"I am going to miss you Nanuet ,I know you are surprised by my new attitude but I have always cherished you Nanuet you are one of the best and hardworking girl I have ever seen ,I wish you success in your new place of work and your dad I also wish him quick recovery ,she smiled at me and brought something out of her dress pocket , gave it to me ,a beautiful necklace, it looked so familiar I couldn't remember where I had seen it .
"Thank you madame Kabira ,thank you I apprecate you ,I said and she laughed and pinched my cheek.
"It's appreciate Nanuet , and you are welcome ,oh ! and your pay for this month ," she stretched out a bundled note towards me .
"That's a hundred and fifty pounds ,I added fifty .
"Thank you so much madame Kabira,thank you and I appreciate ,I giggled knowing I got it right this time .
"You are welcome Naunet ,oh and I hope you know working as a full maid you will have to live in that mansion ,so when you arrive home pack your bags ,a guard will come pick you up this evening , and please inform your parents and make sure they are okay with it ,she informed me and I nodded .
"Yes madam Kabira , thank you ,I just couldn't stop .
"You are welcome Naunet and please be careful ,stay off the prince and you will be fine ," she said and I nodded.
"Thank you madame ,I will go now ,I placed the money she gave me in my bag ,I hugged her before leaving the kitchen ,on my way out I bumped into Patalekah and her minions.
Finally I will never see these idiots again,I smirked at her ,she looked furious,she must have heard everything .
Suddenly she smiled and whispered to her dumb friends and they both smirked.
"Good luck working at the prince mansion ,I pray you don't die on your first night ," she blabbed and her friends laughed. She brushed past me and so did her friends.
I was kinda surprised and confused by what she meant but I brushed it off and left the palace going home with my happy news.
Akim's pov
6:30pm ... Akira's penthouse
"You look beautiful ," I complimented Akira as she walked downstairs in a very beautiful royal blue turtleneck gown that reached her knee. It was kind of exposing her cleavages, because of the open cut design placed In the front, but that's Akira for you .
"Thank you and you are also not looking bad yourself , " she replied .
I held her hand as she took the last step , and we both evacuated the building.I was taking her on a dinner date to the most expensive restaurant in the city ,my five star hotel.
We got into my brand new SUV car ,a sports utility vehicle which everyone likes to call jeep.
Soon we were off ,we got there 20 minutes later and the place was empty . I had to make this night special for her .
"Welcome your highness ," the manager greeted and ushered us in .
He directed us into the vip room specially decorated for us .
"This is so beautiful , " Akira complimented, staring at the decorations. It looked like a dinner room for Valentine's day. That gave me an idea.I will surely discuss it with the manager .
"You like it ?
"Like,I love it , it's so romantic thank you Asim ," she said, still staring around.
I pulled a chair for her to sit and I also sat waiting for food.I just couldn't stop staring at the dress she was wearing,truth be told I didn't like it but I also couldn't tell ,it would break her heart and I don't want any of that to happen.
"Your dress looks unique,did you pick it yourself," I asked.
"No Khalid picked it for me ," she said and her eyes grew big .
"I meant Khalita ,i always mix the name up ,she inched her nape nervously.
"Who's Khalita ?
"Oh she's my new manager ,she replied .
"You have a new manager ,when did you get a new one ," I asked.
"Why do you want to know that oh so that you can invite her for sex ,she stated angrily and I gulped.
"No that's not why I asked ,I am sorry for what happened that day, believe me she seduced me ,I am sorry okay ,I replied.
"That's the problem Asim ,I can't seem to trust or believe your words ,you still have that stupid rule of having s*x with your new maids as a form of acceptance right ?
I facepalmed myself not knowing what to say ,how did she even get to know ,must be Khalid's doing.
"Akira I am changing ,I love you and I will do anything for you ," I said , holding her hands.
"Then break that rule , cancel it , change take it off your mind ,she demanded
"Fine I will ,if that's what you want I will do anything for you Akira , because I love you ,since this is what you want then I accept," I said sincerely.
She smiled and squeezed my hand softly ,"thank you I love you very much ,she said and I smiled in relief.
Soon our food was brought in and we dug in ,she kept smiling like she won a lottery and I felt bad .
I have to get my revenge on dumb brain before I can adhere to her request ,sorry Akira ,I promise to change after this.
