Chapter 5 Just What I Want

Undaunted, Eliza shot back coldly. Her question somehow sounded like an assertion.

Upon hearing that, Manson laughed instead of getting mad. He was like laughing at her innocence and self-importance. He slightly bent over and drew closer to her till their faces almost contacted.

"Like you? You're overrating yourself cuz that will never happen! So, drop that idea." He sounded even colder.

Instead of getting mad, Eliza remained indifferent, as if she didn't care about his speech at all.

"Better know your place and do not mention our relationship to outsiders." He concluded with another warning.

"Just what I want." Eliza shot back without thinking.

Mason snorted, walked away, and slammed the door shut. Eliza looked blankly at his tall figure that looked decisive.

She was determined to figure out what she wanted to know...

In the living room on the first floor, Norah finished a phone call and flew into a rage.

Just now, Julia explained to her Eliza's origins. Since her daughter for the marriage was not specified, it didn't make much of a difference!

How dare she play tricks with her!

Julia fooled her with a village girl. No wonder she was so uncultured!

The more Norah thought about it, the angrier she got. If others knew that Mason married a bumpkin, they would laugh at him. Besides, the girl was overweening and slighting her. How would she maintain her reputation in the circle?

"Norah, don't be mad. How about we figure out a way?"

"What way? But Manson has claimed that he wants her!" She knew Mason's temper better than anyone else.

"What if she wants to leave or does anything wrong?" Rose Juarez smiled slyly.

Norah was instantly enlightened.

As something suddenly crossed her mind, she instructed the housekeeper to invite the relatives to dinner at a western restaurant tonight.

When Eliza was told to have dinner at West Island Restaurant, her eyebrows furrowed imperceptibly.

She knew that Norah was harboring ill intentions. Nevertheless, she was thinking about doing something.

At 7 p.m., they sat in a booth at West Island Restaurant. Apart from the relatives, there were also some of Norah's friends.

Mason had no idea what his stepmother was up to and just took it as a simple dinner.

West Island Restaurant was known as an authentic western restaurant. There were no chopsticks or other elements of Chinese food.

It was the most famous western restaurant in Alexander City.

In the booth, the relatives were congratulating the newlyweds, whereas Norah turned on the cynical switch.

"She is just a village girl who hasn't seen much of the world."

"She is uncultured, and I need to trouble myself disciplining her."

Mason's eyebrows furrowed, and he couldn't stand the noise anymore. "Enough for your speech?" His sullen voice came out.

Norah immediately shuts up her mouth. Though unhappy, she could do nothing about it.

"Mason, you can't blame Norah. She's for your good! All these years, she has been revolving around you. Eliza, you won't mind it, right? The seniors all have good intentions. After all, you also represent the Burns Family, and your origins are indeed humble." One of his aunts spoke up for Norah.

Following her speech, the woman looked at Eliza graciously, but her eyes were filled with contempt.

Eliza just took an indifferent glance at her, which embarrassed the woman.

Just then, the restaurant manager came in to take orders.

He laid his eyes on Eliza for a moment, which no one noticed...
