Chapter 5 The Bargain

I don't know how it happened, but blood splattered all over me, taking me back to five years ago in Levrian pack where my family and other members of Levrian pack were killed.

I felt as my fingers shivered without control. My eyes were opened but barely seeing. My eyelids were covered in blood. I could smell it. I was in deep shock. The next thing I knew, I was hanging in the air. Well, someone was holding me up by the throat.

I had no strength whatsoever. But then I thought for the first time since the incident that wiped away Levrian pack, "What life is it that I have been fighting for?"....... "How badly do I want to live that I failed to actually live?"

I looked at the man that had my neck in his hand. My blood would be next, so I thought.

His eyes were bloodshot. His fangs were beginning to come out and I wonder if he was going to suck out the life in me instead of tearing me in splinters like he did Stacy.

It was at that moment a tear strayed downy face. Stacy was gone, like, dead and gone, just like that. She's dead for no reason at all except that I was foolish. I caused her death.

I shut my eyes waiting for the impact of the bite, but nothing came. Instead I was tossed away, my back colliding with the wall. I felt dead as the pain shot through my body. And as the floor embraced my hurting soul, I wished it would open up to hide instead.

"Condro, is this how you treat your guests?" I heard a voice echoe through 5ue entire building. It was that one fearless and intimidating woman, D boss.

"Drexa, back out of this... it is my business." The vampire who just sent me flying said.

"Oh! I wouldn't mind if you kill everyone here as long as you don't touch my fingers. But now? Now I'll have to mind cause you just killed one of my girls, and renderedy favourite pet helpless here!"

D boss was referring to me as her pet. And I hated it. I wanted to scream on top of my lungs that I was nobody's pet. For once I wanted to be rebellious.

"How are you going to pay for this Condro?" D boss asked.

If there's one thing about Drexa, she's vengeful. But how was she going to win against a vampire.

"You know better than to bring a human here Drexa. You should own up to your mistake." A lady said. I bet she must also be a vampire.

"Now, that's not how a bargain works. Does it?" I was feeling weak at that point and wanted to embrace the darkness that was calling me. But something inside of me was too scared to embrace it. The thoughts of the "what if(s)" prevented me.

"You know what I can do Condro, you'll have to marry Syk and make her mistress in your court. That is to pay for killing my girl and the damage you've done to Syk in this unholy party,"

Drexa's words rang through my head and perhaps it was what made me weak in the knee. What did she just say? She wants me married to a vampire?

I raised my head up to sight her where she was. Turns out she was standing on the railing like a fucking god. The aura she exuded made me cower, but I didn't bow my head this time. I just looked at her even though my eyes were heavy, heavy with sleep and blood, dried blood.

"And who is this Syk?" Condro asked. At that moment, I wanted the earth to really swallow me up.

"The one you sent flying against the wall. Don't you think that is little, compared to the loss I just suffered due to your uncivil display of power?" Drexa said. I bet that wasn't even a question for Condro to answer.

But then, where was she? Where was Drexa when all these started? Why did she leave me alone and disappeared with no trace? Why did she bring me to the party where Stacy was supposed to be on a mission? And where was she when Stacy stepped up for me and got killed instead. Why is she asking the one who killed my best friend to marry me?

I was filled with anger and hatred. And it's venom was going towards different direction of this room, including to those who stood there and watched without trying to stop Condro from killing Stacy.

"It is the bare minimum, but a human?" Condro scoffed. Of course he could not imagine himself getting married to a human.

"And what if she's a human? You could make her one like you, or is it impossible for the dead to live again?" Drexa said. And I wondered what she was insinuating.

"We will have to renegotiate. Drop another bait." Condro said.

"Your betrothed will die within 3 minutes if you don't go by my demand," I felt the fear of the lady with whom this fight started as she held Condro by the arms begging for him to do something.

Then suddenly she was standing next to me, and within a splitting second, she bit into me.

"But I'm not a human!" A tear dropped from my eyes for the second time as the pain shot through my veins. If only she had heard my thought, maybe she would have stopped.

She didn't stop until I felt no more pain. My eyes became clouded and I was beginning to lose consciousness. I felt a hand holding my chin. It felt like Drexa. I could feel her intimidating smirk as she whispered a well done that seemed to resound in my ear.

I felt like I was being washed away. And nothing was going to prevent me from de-existing. I wanted to curse Drexa. It seemed as though she knew what would happen here. But then, it all started with me. It was my fault. Perhaps, Drexa only seized the opportunity and I caused the problem.
