Chapter 4 Enemies in disguise!

Hector stepped up to Daphne's office that afternoon, annoyed. He had been living in Singapore for a long time since his mother died, and since then, he had never set foot in this company.

No wonder no one knew him, but it was still annoying when the employees knew Daphne better than he was Victor Andino's biological son.

"This is the office, please, sir! Forgive me again for not recognizing you!" said an employee who escorted Hector to Daphne's office.

But Hector seemed unconcerned and walked straight into Daphne's office with his assistant without knocking.

Cracked!

The door opened, and Hector looked around the spacious office.

"So, is this what my office looks like?"

Suddenly, Daphne and Damian, who were still sitting in their places, turned their heads in shock to see Hector there.

"H-Hector?" Daphne squealed as she reflexively got up from her chair. Likewise, Damian also stood up immediately.

"Why are your expressions like that? Like you're seeing ghosts? Are you guys having an affair, huh? Is that why you were scared when I caught you?"

"What are you talking about, Hector? There's no such thing, I'm just surprised to see you here!" Damian replied, who already knew Hector.

"Are you really not having an affair? You're too close to be just friends, right?" Hector looked at Daphne and Damian with a probing gaze.

Daphne just rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Hector, don't start with all your baseless accusations again, so what made you come here all of a sudden?"

Although Daphne was still annoyed with Hector because of the incident this morning, but she was still quite surprised to see Hector come to the company.

Hector squinted at Daphne. "Of course, to work! Aren't you the one who keeps asking me to work here, Daphne? Do you suddenly have amnesia?"

For a moment, Daphne just widened her eyes in disbelief. In fact, Daphne had just been despairing that she couldn't get Hector to work here, but now suddenly he had come willingly.

"No, I didn't forget, but... didn't I hear you wrong, Hector? You want to work here?" Daphne repeated, still in disbelief.

"Did you expect to hear wrong, Daphne? Now get out of the way! I want to sit here!" Hector exclaimed as he pulled the chair Daphne had been sitting on and casually sat down. "So, this is the CEO's office, right? This is my office, right?"

"This is Daphne's office, Hector!" Damian said firmly.

"Daphne's office? I'm Victor Andino's successor, don't I deserve to be here!" Hector retorted no less forcefully.

Daphne blinked her eyes and immediately signaled to Damian that she didn't mind.

"That's fine, Damian! Of course, Hector can stay in this room if he wants! I can work in another room!"

"No need, Daphne!" Hector said quickly. "You don't need to work in another room because you'll be out of here soon! I don't need you anymore!"

"What? What do you mean?" Daphne asked, frowning in disbelief.

But before Hector could answer, the door of Daphne's office was again violently kicked in.

"Daphne Laurel, how dare you do this to us!" Diana shouted, who rushed in with Angelina.

Diana and Angelina were silent for a moment as they saw Hector sitting there.

"H-Hector? Why are you here?" Diana asked in a softer tone now, a stark contrast to her earlier tone of yelling at Daphne.

"Why is everyone so surprised to see me here? I'm the sole heir of this company so it's only right that I'm here, right? And not just today, you'll see me every day because I'm the new boss here!"

Diana immediately widened her eyes. "Uh, that... that..."

"Hmm, why do you look so unhappy, Aunt Diana?"

Diana blinked her eyes and momentarily became nervous, but she tried to remain calm while forcing a smile.

"Ah, no, Hector! Of course, I am glad that you're working here so you can get rid of those rotten pests!" Diana tilted her head at Daphne.

"Rotten pests?" Hector narrowed his eyes again.

"Daphne blocked us from using the company's money when it was rightfully ours! I bet she wants to control all the money herself!" Angelina snapped.

Daphne, who couldn't stand it, finally spoke up. "Didn't I explain this morning, Angelina! It's for the company!"

"That's just made up, Daphne! You sneaky bitch! What a cheap woman!" Angelina blurted out again.

But Diana kept pulling on Angelina's hand, asking her to stop talking and start acting like a good girl.

"Stop it, Angelina dear! Actually, I think Daphne has a point too! I am the one who didn't think things through! As long as it's for the company, we have to support her, don't we, Hector? You agree too, right? Just don't let Daphne suddenly eat the money herself!" Diana gave Daphne a meaningful glance before smiling back at Hector.

"Alright, no need to prolong it! Since everyone is still gathered here, we'll go first! Excuse me!" Quickly, Diana pulled Angelina out of the room and walked away.

"Mom, why are you suddenly acting like this and defending Daphne?"

"Who's defending Daphne? You didn't see Hector there, huh? Damn it, why is Hector suddenly working for the company too? This is going to make our path to control the company even more difficult! Listen, Angelina! No matter what happens, we have to stay on our best behavior in front of Hector! Show him that we're on his side because Hector could be more dangerous than that woman!"

"But Hector hates that woman too, Mom! Just like us!"

"I know! That's why let Hector get rid of her! Meanwhile, we better figure out how to get rid of Hector!" Diana said with a premeditated grin.

Meanwhile, in her office room, Daphne couldn't contain herself anymore.

"You see, right, Hector? Aunt Diana, Angelina, and so many others have done a disservice to the company! I'm trying to fix everything and that's why I can't leave here!"

"Don't act like you're better than them, Daphne! You're all the same! Enemies in disguise!"

Daphne held her breath at that. She knew Hector was not an easy man to work with.

And although her main goal was to get Hector to take over the company, Daphne also had to make sure everything was stable in order to get the job done properly.

"I'm not an enemy, Hector! In fact, you'll regret it if I leave now! Everything I've organized will fall apart and the bad guys will win!"

"Hmm, are you threatening me, Daphne?"

"No! Of course I'm not threatening you, Hector, I'm just trying to make a deal with you!"
