Chapter 3 The Perks Of Being A Rich Woman

Are you sure that I was the one who was rude? The man set his cup of coffee down and strode towards her. He slowly unbuttoned his shirt with his long fingers.

This man was as tempting as the devil himself. It was such a waste for him to have a job like this!

Look at what you did to me. He approached and leaned forward, grabbing her hand and pressing her palm against his chest.

Feeling the heat of his body under her fingertips, Michelle withdrew her hand quickly. "I can see with my own eyes, thank you. There's no need to touch."

However, even she had to admit that this man's muscles felt damn good!

With one eyebrow raised, he said in a hoarse voice, "I suppose you're right. You touched me plenty last night."

Flustered, Michelle was so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a hole and bury herself in it.

To her surprise, there were purple and red hickeys all over his chest and bite marks on his neck. She couldn't believe her eyes. "I did that?" she asked in disbelief.

He nodded.

Michelle laughed uneasily. "I'm sorry. I was drunk. I suppose I... I don't behave well when I am drunk..."

Yesterday was one hell of a night!

Not wanting to spend another second there, Michelle fled the hotel in a hurry.

The man just smirked seeing her retreating back.

In the office of the president of Roberts Enterprise.

The well decorated office was impeccably clean, and everything was organized to a tee.

Gerard sat at his desk, brooding quietly. The computer screen in front of him was pitch black. He was in no mood to work all day. He couldn't think about anything else but the woman who had accidentally slept with him last night.

Damien walked in and asked, "Sir, you wanted to see me?"

Investigate the woman from last night.

The woman from last night?

Damien's eyes flickered with confusion. He thought about it for a while before it finally clicked.

That woman... She... she's...

You finished? Don't just stand there. Go and get me all the information on that woman! Gerard snapped impatiently.

But, Sir, isn't that woman your wife? Damien finally asked after calming down.

My wife? Gerard's frown deepened.

Sir, did you forget? A year ago, you and your wife got a marriage license.

Gerard stood up abruptly and slammed his fists on the table. "You mean the woman from last night is my wife?"

Gerard had only married Michelle because he wanted the political connections of the Greenwoods behind her back. He was a shrewd businessman after all. A nominal marriage could bring huge benefits to him. Why should he turn his back on such an opportunity?

Besides, he didn't mistreat Michelle after he married her. Well, at the very least, he was generous to her.

They had been married for a whole year. But the two of them had never met, not even once. It never occurred to him to take his nominal wife with him to banquets and the like. He had too many choices. There were the daughters of illustrious families, popular stars, and fashion models. He completely forgot that there was a living, breathing Mrs. Roberts back at home.

Well, now she's your ex-wife... Damien suddenly added.

Ex-wife? Gerard raised his head and echoed absentmindedly.

Yes. You asked me to send Mrs. Roberts-oh, I mean, Miss Greenwood-the divorce agreement yesterday. She has already signed it and given it to the lawyer.

Only then did Gerard remember that the woman from last night mentioned that she had just gotten a divorce.

So, after she signed the divorce papers, she went to a bar to use the alimony on a male prostitute?

Although he had had a good time with the woman last night, he was furious at the thought of his ex-wife having sex with a stranger as soon as she got a divorce!

The fact that he was the said stranger didn't make him feel any better. Anger flared within him and his expression grew cold.

A year ago, he decided to marry the daughter of the Greenwoods for the benefits.

The Greenwoods had several suitable daughters and they all wanted to marry him.

But he had chosen Michelle.

Back then, he had caught a glimpse of her passing by the living room. She was a quiet girl. Her long hair was draped over her shoulders, and half of her face was dominated by thick-framed glasses. No one could see her face clearly, but she had a unique attraction about her.

When he brought her up, her grandfather disagreed at first. Although Michelle was his granddaughter, her parents died at an early age. She was a girl who isolated herself, so she wasn't close to her grandfather. As a result, the Greenwoods patriarch had never taken her seriously.

And that was precisely why Gerard chose Michelle. She was dispensable, which meant it would be easy to divorce her in the future.

Ending a nominal marriage that used to unite two families was common.

Gerard sank back into his chair and pressed his fingers against his throbbing temple.

Seeing that his boss had lapsed into silence, Damien turned around to leave. Just then, the man barked, "Tell my ex-wife that I want to see her!"

A few minutes later, Damien got off the phone and hesitantly approached the door to the president's office.

Gerard looked up from his desk and asked unhappily, "Where is she?"

Mrs- I mean, Miss Greenwood said that she's divorced now so there's no need for you two to see each other again. She also said that...

What? Spit it out already! The man was on the verge of exploding.

Damien swallowed nervously. "She said she was very grateful for the generous alimony you gave her. Last night, she enjoyed the perks of being a rich woman..."

Damien looked up at Gerard furtively and met the man's cold gaze.

The perks of being a rich woman?

Did she really view him as a male prostitute? This damned woman!
