Chapter 8 bitches and apologies

| still CARLA'S POV |

▬▬▬▬▬

EARLY MORNING classes aren't appealing and would never be appealing. Even after not having enough beauty sleep because of the cloud of thoughts that rose above me last night, I still had a class to attend- which had gotten me out of bed exactly 06:30.

With tensed jaw and eyes fixed on the blank board, it was the first time I wished that the professor wouldn't come to class- mostly because I needed to catch up on my beauty sleep. The only thing that had kept my mind from thinking again was the laughter and pointless arguments that filled the classroom.

Bella nudged my arm, dragging my attention away from the board. "I hope you're still not thinking about yesterday."

She had told me to forget about the whole incident but at that moment my mind floated back to it. "I'm not but. . . Do you think the boxer guy was behind everything?"

She sighed. "From what you said yesterday, I think he might have been telling the truth."

That didn't help to clear my doubts, and Bella seemed to have noticed it as she spoke again; "Just get your mind off of it, it's-" she stopped mid-sentence, head turning to another direction, "Oh my!"

My head bounced to the direction hers was and I noticed the air around us had changed. Veronica Blithe- typical Queen Bee. Her two minions, Cassia Stenberg and Amber Verano were exactly like her.

Veronica was everything but unattractive to the eyes of half the male population. Her hair silky blonde hair was straight and smooth, green eyes highlighted with an eyeliner. Her legs were long and slender- what you get for being blessed with a nice height- even her slender body was hugged by a crop top and ripped skinny jeans. Now that's okay, I guess. She was your typical model, fit for any photoshoots.

As she made her way to the front of the class, steps confident, few heads whipped to her direction. The whole class suddenly became quiet, all awaiting to hear what she had to say.

"Alright, since the professor isn't in class right now, I can just make my announcement," she started off and I was impressed with her confidence. "Our very own Walter is having a party next Saturday and you all are invited!"

Party? Yikes. While Bella squealed besides me, along with every other girls in the class, I only rolled my eyes.

"You all would get the invitation card later today," she added, then took a bow. As she and her minions approached the seat in front of us, I watched her shoot a wink at a guy sitting in front. And when her eyes fell on Bella and I, she flashed us a fake smile.

Veronica took her seat directly in front of us, her minions on each side of her. She was a stunner that's for sure and she did try to show it- the way she dressed, walked and even talked but as rumor had it, she did act like a bitch. Her eye bounced every few seconds as she gossiped with her minions- That's the only thing people seem to be doing.

My eyes fell back to the board and so did Bella's, it was obvious that she was just as bored as I was but in less than few seconds, things began to get interesting.

"Damn look at that face," I heard Veronica sigh out in front of me, staring lustfully ahead to few seats to my left. I, for some reason, directed my gaze to whom she must've been talking about and- of course- he just had to be in my damn class. There he was, smirking at something one of the guys had said. The boxer just have to had gotten all the female population at his back and call because- every girl in the class was gawking at him.

I took in his ocean blue eyes that had gotten the girls swimming in it, plump lips and that mass of brown hair that never seemed to get messy, always gelled and smoothened. He had looks sharp enough to kill and he did seem like an addiction.

It's like he could feel my eyes on him because he glanced in my direction- dusk blue meeting icy blue. I look away with an eye roll, and then focused back on the conversation between the three girls in front of me.

"He's gonna show up at the party, girls and your bitch right here is gonna have some fun in bed," I watch her lick her lips like some crazy bitch.

I grimaced at the statement she had made. Way to give us the full information.

"With how strong he is, he definitely must be strong in bed too," Cassia added, obviously gawking at the boxer guy, and earning a finger snap from Veronica.

"He's mine Cassia and I hope all the girls can see that and keep away from my man."

I really, really tried but I couldn't help bursting into fits of laughter. The three girls turned around to face me, eyebrows furrowed and even Bella was surprised by my action. I finally controlled myself and let out a long sigh.

She stood up from her seat and stood in front of ours, arms crossed defensively across her chest. "And what's so funny classless bitch?" She demanded.

Cassia and Amber both share a look before giving me a look of disgust while Veronica awaited my response. She sure did love unnecessary drama- time to put her in her place.

"You of course," I responded with a chuckle and when I saw her eyebrows knit in confusion, I went on, "Do you think he wants anything that has to do with you?" I cock my head to the side, a mocking smile outlining my lips.

I noticed her stiffen in her place. I bet she's shocked. The class must have observed that there was something going on with us as the noise slowly dispersed, and everyone's head turned to our direction. Good.

"So, do you think he'll even want anything to do with you? You aren't even up to our standards," she retorted, glaring at me.

My lips curled up in a wider smile- if that's possible. "Darling, darling," my voice was outlined with fake sympathy as I rose up from my seat. "Isn't it obvious? I am not like you so I'm not interested in him but take my advice on this. . . You need a lot of good morals, self respect and character to win a guy rather than fake tan, short clothing, expensive perfume and heavy make-up," I listed out carefully, hearing few snickers and giggles from the class which brought a smirk to my face. "Now, all these darling are problems but I don't have those problems."

While she was fuming with rage and glaring at me, I only shrugged before sitting back down.

The class had been quiet as everyone gave us their full undivided attention. There was a whistle and my head turned into the direction were the boxer sat. His eyebrows rose in amusement- probably amused to see how interested someone is in him.

I rolled my eyes at him, then turning to face Bella. Bella's eyes were wide and full of mischief as she whispered the words, "That was crazy," to me and I only smirked.

"You little-"

"Quiet class!"

Veronica was cut off from the foolish statement she was about to make by the professor who came late without apologizing. She gave me a look which read- I-wasn't-done-with-you.

I didn't care.

♣♣♣

"Hey Carla!"

I heard a familiar voice call as I walked down the hall with Bella. I turned around to see Walter jogging towards us. He had a mischievous grin on his face and I knew I was in for something.

He was standing right in front of us, hands tucked inside his pants pockets. "You are on fire Carla that was hot!"

I rose an eyebrow in confusion and he broke into the widest grin.

"The little show that happened between you and Veronica," he reminded and my mouth fell in an 'O' shape.

"Wait, you weren't in my class so how do you know?" I asked him, awaiting an answer.

"Some of the students got it on video."

Wow. They did a great job than I did.

While I was still grinning, he went ahead to ask; "Now friend, why haven't you introduced me to this damsel standing right by your side."

"First, it's aquintance," I corrected, "and second, I'm sorry. Walter, this is my best friend and roommate Bella, Bella, this is Walter my AQUINTANCE." I emphasized strongly on the last word.

"Hi," she waved, nervously.

"Nice to meet you," he grinned. "Are you gonna be at the party?"

"I wouldn't miss it for anything," she responded with enthusiasm.

He whipped out a card from his pocket. An invitation card. He handed one to Bella who excitedly accepted it. And when, he handed another invitation card to me, I politely declined.

He placed a hand on his chest dramatically, "Oh Carla, don't break my heart by not attending."

I gave him a sad smile, "I'm sorry but I don't like parties."

"Maybe the one's you've attended were awful," he shrugged, "I bet you, mine would be awesome."

I was unsure- stuck between having to go to the party or not- but, I knew for a fact that even if I managed to turn down the offer, Bella would still force me to come.

"I'll think about it," my voice was visibly clouded with unsureness as I broke into a small smile.

I took the invitation card from him. He turned to Bella with a pleading eyes, "I really need you guys to be there."

Okay?

They're were a lot of reasons why I hated parties so much and at the moment, I was yet again wrapped up in my messed up thoughts. If everything comes back there was nothing that would be able to stop it.

We both told him him goodbye and turned around to walk away. We hadn't even gone far when his voice called out, "See you at the party Carla."

Let's just see how it goes.

We continued our walk down the hallway and outside the building, the cool air sweeping past us in a refreshing way. The atmosphere was delightful and calming to the soul. Nature was really wondrous, it had the power to save a withering flower yet it could also destroy the same flower during it's sunny days.

"You are attending that party!" Bella ordered from besides me as we both admired the beauty of nature.

I darted my eyes away from the clear blue sky and turned to face her, eyebrows raised. "You are not going to force me."

She turned to face me, mouth agape, "Do you seriously hate parties?!"

"Yes."

"Why?" she shrieked. "I mean everyone loves partying-"

"I don't and I'm not ready to say why," I muttered lowly.

Bella placed her right hand on my shoulder, a sigh escaping her lips. "I'm not going to force you to tell me your reason alright, but when you feel like or you need someone to talk to, I'll be here to listen, always."

"Thanks," I gave her a grateful smile.

"But. . . You really don't want to disappoint Walter, do you? I promise to be by your side through out the party."

I didn't know- maybe it would work out well, or not. I still had a lot of time to ponder over it and I decided to wait and see what happens.

"I'll think about it," I gave her a smile and then focused my attention on the view in front of me- the school's compound. From my peripheral vision, I caught sight of three familiar figures having a discussion.

I placed all my attention on the boxer guy and the two other guys from the cafeteria. The boxer's eyes found mine, and he seemed to hold unto them for a while before turning back to face the guys. He said something to them and then motioned in my direction. When the two guys saw me, their eyes went wide.

But, what I didn't expect was for them to walk towards our direction. I had already gotten myself prepared, ready to beat them if they tried anything crazy.

What they did was beyond astonishing- the two guys who stood before me apologized. I stared at them like they were some weird aliens unknown to mankind.

"We really are sorry," the guy I had punched spoke.

The other guy let out a sigh. "Yes, and-"

"We were the ones who knocked you unconscious and then locked you in the school's closet."

"What?!"

The fury which seethed through my veins and constrained my throat, however, could not be compared to the amount of guilt I was feeling for blaming the boxer. Bella's hands wrapped around my clenched ones in a way to calm me down.

But then again, I kept chanting in my brain- maybe the boxer guy was behind everything- who knows? I didn't even know the guy's name.

"We're really sorry," they apologized, snapping me out of my thoughts, and then, my eyes found his: addictive and overwhelming.

The only thing I could actually decipher was that I had never seen anyone with such electrifying shade of dusk blue eyes. But just because he was the school's Golden boy didn't mean he could be arrogant and look down others, so I averted my gaze away from him and focused on the two assholes in front of me.

"Was he the one that ordered you two to lock me up?" I asked them, motioning to Mr Golden boy.

The guy I had punched shook his head. "He had no idea, neither did Walter."

That response increased my guilt and anger- I needed a reason to back up my dislike for him. Anger due to the fact that I blamed the boxer was one thing and being locked up in a room by these asswipes was another thing entirely and I was few meters away from slamming my fist into their faces.

I tried to ignore the pleading look Bella gave me as I clenched my fist, but the assuring smile she sent my way seemed to have a done a miraculous job in calming me down.

I took a long deep breath and then turned to face the guys. "I. . . Forgive you two." There was a lot if difficulty in saying those four words, but I had to anyway for the sake of peace.

The two of them let out a sigh, and then the guy I had punched broke into a grin. "I'm Austin."

"I'm Jaxon," the other guy added.

"Carla," I responded curtly.

"I'm Bella." Bella gave them her famous heart-warming smile, giving both of them a handshake.

"It's nice to meet you," Austin responded, the grin still not leaving his face.

I wondered if we could skip the never ending pleasantries and just head to our dorms. Luckily for me that moment, luck had sided with me.

"So, see you guys some other time?"

Austin's voice was clouded with hope, and I only gave him a curt nod. "Sure."

Just like that, the two were out of our sight. With everything that had happened, nothing felt right to me. The reason was unknown to me, but I made up my mind on something; Keep a good distance until I'm sure they genuinely want to be friends.

Things weren't going the way I had wanted them to since day one.
