Chapter 9 Leaving

"Where is Joyce? Did she watch TV today? " Raising his head, Leo Xu walked towards the sofa. He felt pleased at the thought of how angry Joyce was.

The servant stepped forward and said, "Miss Ruan said that today is your birthday. She has cooked dinner and made a cake for you."

Upon hearing the servant's words, a wave of warmth rushed to Leo's heart. He pursed his lips into a faint smile as he walked towards the dining room.

As soon as he opened the door, he smelled the food aromas. Looking at the sumptuous dishes on the table, Leo was moved.

He stepped forward. The cake was beautiful in the dim light.

"Mr. Leo, Miss Ruan..."

Before the servant could say something, Leo strode towards Joyce's room. Although he knew that this woman had hurt him before, he felt warm in his heart when he heard that she remembered his birthday and prepared the cake with great effort.

He came to Joyce's bedroom in a hurry. When he heard that it was very quiet in the bedroom, he could not help frowning.

"Did Joyce go to bed so early?" Biting his lips tightly, Leo gently pushed the door open.

Turning on the small night lamp in the bedroom, Leo Xu saw the empty bedroom. "Is it Joyce..."

"No way! It's impossible!" He clenched his fist and knocked the wardrobe of the bedroom. It was still empty and Joyce's clothes had gone.

"butler, what's going on?"

The butler heard the roar of Leo and hurried to the bedroom.

"Mr. Leo, Miss Ruan, Miss Ruan was determined to leave after watching the news. I'm just a servant..."

On hearing the butler's words, Leo was burning with rage, his eyebrows tightly knitted.

With a bang, Leo smashed his fist on the table. The butler sensed a murderous and sad look in his eyes.

The butler had never seen Leo lose his temper like this before. He dared not to offend him, so he left the bedroom in a hurry.

"Joyce, we'll see!"

He was not reconciled to the fact that no woman had dared do this to him.

He didn't know how he felt about Joyce now. It seemed that he liked her but he dared not to get close to her.

Lying on his cold queen-size bed, he felt like he had lost something in his quiet bedroom in the moonlight.

After thinking it over, Leo Xu decided to find Joyce.

"Here we are, Miss." The taxi driver slowly parked the car downstairs. He said casually and turned his head to look at Joyce.

Joyce suddenly came back to earth. She forced a bitter smile and walked towards the house with her luggage.

The wind stirred the leaves and made a desolate sound.

Thinking of the fact that her own wishful thinking was ended in this way, a trace of loss and a hint of unwillingness rose in her heart.

The elevator slowly stopped on the floor of their house. Hearing the melodious sound of Mason's piano, Joyce felt all the suffering she had suffered was worth it at that moment.

When he just picked up the music score and covered the piano, he heard a doorbell ringing.

"It's so late. Who is it?" Mason Chen murmured as he walked towards the door.

"Joyce? Why did you... "

When he saw Joyce, Mason was very surprised. When he was about to speak, he saw his sister's disappointed expression and he stopped what he wanted to say. His sister was always strong and optimistic, so she must have encountered some catastrophe.

"Joyce, have you eaten yet? I'll cook some noodles for you. "

Joyce nodded and lied on her side on the bed. She looked at the moon outside the window and tears welled up in her eyes.

The image of the intimacy between Leo Xu and Addison Jiang kept flashing in her mind. She knew that it was all over. Although Leo was still on her mind, she couldn't do anything.

Thinking of the relationship between them in college, Joyce felt heartbroken and even thought Leo would felt smug when he knew that she had left.

"Joyce, please eat something," Mason put a bowl of noodles on the table in front of Joyce.

Although she didn't have dinner at night and her stomach was growling, she still had no appetite.

Noticing her brother's eager eyes, Joyce tightened lips and took the bowl from Mason.

She told herself quietly that she must cheer up, for her brother as well.

She was eating the noodles in her bowl, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Looking at his sister, Mason didn't say anything, just looking after her carefully.

It was raining outside the window. It woke up Leo who was sleeping soundly.

"Ruan..." But he didn't finish his words. He just let out a sigh. He wouldn't give up. He believed that he would find Joyce.

He walked to the window and looked at the rain outside. His cell phone kept spinning in his hand. He looked outside the window thoughtfully.

Suddenly, his brows furrowed. He took out his phone and called his assistant.

"Mr. Leo, is there anything..."

Before the assistant had the chance to speak out, Leo said impatiently, "check where Joyce is as soon as possible."

"Okay, Mr. Leo." Although the assistant had some doubts, he dared not to ask anything about Leo's private matters.

As time slipped away, it kept raining outside the window.

Looking out of the window in a daze, Leo seemed to be thinking about something. He didn't notice that his assistant had already entered his office.

"Mr. Leo? Mr. Leo?" The assistant held a note and said cautiously.

"What? What's the matter? " After coming to himself, he looked at her coldly.

The assistant carefully handed over the note and said, "Mr. Leo, Miss Ruan went home. This is her address."

Hearing the assistant's words, Leo leaned back in a hurry and picked up the piece of paper on the desk.

Seeing the address on the paper, Leo Xu rushed out of the office without hesitation.

The car went on the bustling street at full speed. Two bodyguards next to him made a strong contrast with Leo's status.

Taking off his sunglasses and throwing them to the bodyguard behind, Leo Xu walked angrily to Joyce's house with one hand in the pocket of his trousers.

"Joyce, lunch is ready. Come out to have lunch." Mason said considerately, putting the bowls and chopsticks in order.

The good care of Mason made Joyce feel much better, and Joyce also encouraged herself to make a good life for her brother.

She had imagined all these to be perfect.

When they were having dinner in the dining room, the ringing of the doorbell broke the peace of the meal.

"Joyce, help yourself. I'll open the door." But in his heart, he had a bad feeling.
