The sudden shrillness pierced my eardrums and jolted me awake, JASMINE!!! Raymond yelled over the phone. 'Are you crazy, Raymond?' What the fuck!!!" I snapped at him.
"Careful with the attitude, young lady. Do you know what time it is? Are you not going to school, bitch?!!" he shot back at me.
"Are you my mother, asshole? Fuck off!!" I shot right back at him and hung up.
Truthfully, I'm going to be late for my first lecture..
Sorry for the late introduction. My name is Jasmine Coker, and I'm studying psychology at Oklahoma Christian University trying to understand human behavior but sometimes struggling to grasp my own, I would love to continue with the introduction, but Dr. Newell is very strict.
I got ready, but I couldn't make anything to eat because I was in a hurry, so I just grabbed my backpack and left the house. The fresh air was a soothing balm for my frantic thoughts
Raymond was already outside waiting for me, so I just hopped in the car. He picks me up all the time; I have a car of my own, but I rarely drive because I have my personal chauffeur (Raymond). And yeah, I live alone; my parents live in London, and we don't exactly have a lovey-dovey parent-daughter relationship - it's complicated.
"You good?" Raymond asked me concernedly.
"Yeah, I am, just hungry, I replied.
We got to school and went to our different classes. Raymond is studying Digital Design, which is totally different from what I'm studying.
I was 5 minutes late, but Dr. Newell let me in, which is unusual. I sat down and tried to listen to him talk, but my mind kept drifting to the strange, unsettling feeling that had been building all day, I don't know what's going on, but I feel like something huge is about to happen..
The bell rang, and I left the class for the cafeteria. I got my order and, as I was making my way to a seat, I was tripped. As I was expecting to hit my face on the cold, hard floor, I was saved. I looked up to my savior and saw Raymond smiling cheekily. I shook my head and faced the person who tripped me, and it was no other than Francis, the dickhead who has been trying to get down with me but got rejected flat out and hasn't recovered.
Raymond wanted to hit him, and I just held him back. He's not worth it; he's a dimwit. I sat down, and Raymond asked me what was wrong. I was taken aback.
Don't give me that face, Jay; something is going on with you. What's bothering you?" he asked worriedly.
"Nothing is wrong, Ray Gay" I replied with a laugh. "If something is wrong, then I don't know what it is."
"First of all, I told you never to call me Ray Gay, "And secondly, are you pregnant? "You know I won't judge. Who's responsible? Is he someone I know? Oh my God! Was it a one-night stand? Does he go to our school?"
Raymond bombarded me with questions, I held up my hands, laughing. "Are you kidding?", 'You think I'm pregnant?' "Raymond, stop worrying" I'm not pregnant, and there's no guy anywhere. I don't know what's going on, for real. I just feel like something big is about to happen."
Raymond grinned mischievously. "Well, well, well. Today's Friday. Why don't we go out later tonight and have some fun? Let's clear your pretty head."
"Alright, come pick me up later," I agreed.
....
I got home and lay on the bed, but a lot of random thoughts kept occupying my mind. So, I stood up and went to the bathroom, undressed, and got into the bathtub, letting the warm, bubbly water wash all my thoughts away. I don't know how long I spent there, though. I got out and tried to pick out an outfit, but on second thought, I wanted to ditch Raymond and just sleep - arghhhh! But Raymond would have my head if I did that. I got ready, and Raymond was already waiting for me(Raymond's reliability was a comforting constant in my life).
Wow, you look so dashing, Raymond," I said sincerely.
He winked at me. "Well, you don't look bad yourself, Jasmine."
We arrived at the party, and I sighed inwardly. It was a typical gathering of hormone-controlled adults partying their lives away. I had just arrived, and already I wanted to go home...
I lost Raymond a few minutes after we got there, The music was pulsating and the crowd was alive but I felt disconnected, I tried to get a drink and make a quick exit. I left the party, and honestly, I didn't know where I was going. But it felt like I had a particular destination in mind. Eventually, I arrived at a serene and beautiful forest view, and I was amazed by its beauty. The trees towered over me, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze like a chorused whispers, Just then, I felt like someone was around, and my heart started racing - strangely, not out of fear...
"Hey there..."
As I turned to face the owner of the captivating voice, our eyes met, and I felt an inexplicable jolt. The air seemed to vibrate with an otherworldly energy. I gasped, my mind racing with the impossible: "This can't be happening again."
Before me stood the most breathtakingly beautiful man I had ever seen. His chiseled features, piercing gaze, crimson orbs with a spark of grey eyes and chiseled physique made my heart skip a beat. He approached me with a confident stride, his hand extended in greeting.
"My name is Scott Edward, milady. What's your beautiful name?"
As our hands touched, a spark of electricity coursed through my veins, weakening my knees. I knew this feeling all too well – the unmistakable sign of a mate bond. But I refused to surrender.
Without hesitation, I declared, "I, Jasmine Coker, reject you, Alpha Scott Edward, as my mate."
As I said the words, a pang of guilt hit me, but i pushed it aside, unsure of what the future held...
NOTE: A mate bond is a supernatural connection between two individuals, can be a human and a werewolf or between two werewolves. The two individuals involved share a deep unshakable link unless one decides to break it which is rare as a mate is supposed to be a one-time life partner. They trigger strong emotions such as passion, protectiveness and loyalty, Can cause physical reactions like weakened knees or sparks upon touch. Rejecting a mate bond may have unforeseen, potentially severe consequences on both individuals though an Alpha who is mated to anyone can pull through after a rejection easily. Crimson orbs are common in Alphas, it makes them different from other ranks..
