Chapter 4

Eva rounded up all the presents from Jake over the years and planned to sell them off at the auction she had founded.

At the auction, she unexpectedly saw Jake and Ryann.

Jake made no attempt to hide from her gaze and continued whispering sweet nothings to Ryann.

"Ryann, whatever catches your eye, I'll buy it for you," he said. He was loud enough for everyone around to hear in the small venue. Others looked at them for fun.

Eva gritted her teeth. She made a few quick calls and hung up.

The auction officially began.

The first item wasn't listed in the auction catalog. As soon as it was revealed, Eva felt a sharp gaze on her back but responded only with a cold smile.

Some people whispered that the pearl necklace had been owned by royalty and had been bought years ago by an unknown wealthy businessman. It had remained unseen until today.

To please Jake, someone flattered him that the woman beside him would be nice if she wore it.

Soon, Jake bought the necklace for ten times its auction price.

With each subsequent item, Jake spent lavishly to amuse Ryann.

After the auction concluded, Eva naturally needed to show her gratitude to Jake as she was the boss of the action.

She walked up to Jake and Ryann and saw Ryann's face flushed with pride.

She said with a smile, "Thank you, Miss Buckley, for helping me clear out my useless things. Thank you, Mr. Stephens, for supporting children severely affected by incidents of severe bullying in schools."

Ryann's face turned pale and stiff at Eva's words.

Eva feigned surprise. "Oh, didn't Jake tell you? These were all gifts from him over the years."

Ryann's face turned livid. But she held back her anger as there were prominent figures from the political and business world. She was about to leave.

Eva quickly raised her voice. "Oh, if you don't want them, I'll take them back. After all, Jake bid on them, which makes them shared assets of him and me as we are still a married couple. It's more appropriate for me to keep them."

A shadow fell over Eva as she looked up to meet Jake's icy stare. "So? Is the Stephen family going bankrupt? They can't afford to support you, so you have to sell jewelry to make ends meet?"

Eva sneered, "What are you talking about?

You are wealthy enough to support not just one woman, but two. You even bought the same gift twice."

"You!" Jake stormed off in anger. He didn't understand how Eva became so self-centered and sharp. She had been so gentle and meek before.

He and Eva used to be so close in their childhood.

As he pondered this, he bumped into Ryann, who was waiting for him by the roadside.

She looked worried. "What should we do, Jake? Eva is still trying to get your attention. She still has inappropriate feelings for you. I really want to help her."

Jake's thoughts were interrupted by her voice and brought him back to reality.

Ryann was right. He and Eva could have continued to get along peacefully, but Eva inappropriately developed feelings for him, her brother.

Jake's face darkened. He wrapped an arm around Ryann's waist and said, "Don't worry. I only love you. I'll make sure she understands that she means nothing to me."

Ryann was moved. She clung to his strong frame and kissed him passionately.

Eva pictured everything expressionlessly with her phone and promptly sent the photos to some media outlets.
