The girl with short hair walked in. "Was the person who made your bed yesterday your stepmother? Why do you mention memento?"
Erika looked at me guiltily, her face turned pale, and she stood there without saying a word.
I wiped away my tears and nodded at the short-haired girl. "Hello, I'm Corrine Lewis."
"I'm Melany Edwards."
She pointed to the scattered items beside me. "Are these yours?"
After speaking, she started helping me make my bed.
Xander, as if suddenly realizing what was happening, joined in the hurried cleanup, apologizing as he did. "Sweetheart, I'm sorry. I just wanted you to get along with your roommates."
I ignored him, maintaining a cold expression.
Once most of the tidying was done, I decided to show my gratitude by offering Melany an expensive bracelet. "This is a little gift for you, thanks for helping me."
As soon as I took it out, Erika's eyes lit up. "We are roommates, so let me help out too."
But before she could touch my bed, I blocked her.
Melany's eyes sparkled with delight. "It's so pretty."
Yet, after the initial surprise, she continued to refuse. "We should help each other as classmates. If you want to thank me, just buy me a cup of coffee."
I had no choice but to claim the bracelet was fake, a cheap replica I bought online.
Only then did Melany accept it.
Erika scoffed disdainfully, "Hah, I knew a gold digger wouldn't give a real thing."
I stepped in front of Erika, meeting her gaze directly. "If you keep spreading lies, I'll make sure you face consequences."
She shrank back, shoulders hunching.
Xander tried to appease me. "To celebrate the start of the school year, how about I treat you to something delicious later?"
Seeing I still ignored him, he affectionately ruffled my hair and said softly, "I'll be off then. Call me anytime if you need anything."
I ignored Xander for a whole week.
One evening, Melany hesitated before speaking. "On my way back from Nocturne Bar, I saw Xander and Erika heading inside. The security guard even called Erika 'Mrs. Harris.'"
Nocturne Bar, the very place my dad bought for me when he found out I loved clubbing.
Yet, I hadn't been since the semester started.
I called Xander, but he quickly hung up, sending a message instead. "What's up, sweetheart? I'm at the library working hard for our future."
I grabbed my trusty golf club and stormed out.
Melany, worried, followed me.
At the club entrance, a burly guard blocked me. "Our bar has a membership system. Non-members are not allowed to enter. The minimum membership card amount is 88, 888 dollars."
I took a deep breath, picked up the golf club, and smashed it against the glass door.
As shards rained down, I stepped through, throwing two wads of cash at the guard's face. "A guard should know who the master is, don't you think?"
The guard stepped aside.
As soon as I entered the bar, I saw Xander and Erika in the largest booth. They were drinking intimately under the encouragement of the crowd.
Seething with anger, I tossed the club at them, then rushed over, pushing their heads into their drinks.
Gasping and choking, tears and snot streaming, they cursed and turned, only to see me. Erika shrieked, "Xander, kick her out! She'll wreck the place with her lack of manners!"
I sneered, pulling out the business license and slapping it against Xander's face. "Xander, why don't you explain whose bar this is?"
