Erika's expression turned awkward when she saw me.
I walked past her to stand beside Xander. "Why didn't you give me a heads-up before coming up here? This is the girls' dormitory, what if..."
"It's not like that, Corrine. I just called you, but your line was busy, so I..."
Honestly, I was annoyed by his actions, but seeing him sweating and bending over to explain, I felt it would be unreasonable to pursue it further.
Erika's face showed some discomfort when she saw me. "Are you two... together?"
But in a flash, after glancing back and forth between Xander and me, she remarked, "Your brother kindly came to drop you off at school, and instead of helping him pack, you're blaming him? Sir, don't bother with such an ungrateful sister."
Xander and I stayed silent, but Erika kept pressing on. She grabbed Xander and stood with her hands on her hips in front of him.
I couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Anyone who didn't know the truth would think you were fiercely protective of him."
Yet Erika only tightened her grip on Xander's arm.
Not stopping there, she pulled Xander away, claiming she was going to show him around the campus.
Xander was so scared he looked back at me with every step, while I leisurely followed, shrugging my shoulders at him.
I was curious to see what Erika was up to.
She noticed me trailing behind, but instead of backing off, she doubled down.
She blinked at Xander with her eyes that were heavily eyelashed and covered with glitter eyeshadow. She squeaked, "Sir, are you a student here too? Then you're my senior, and you'll have to look after me.
I noticed you have a Maybach key. You have such good taste. I love Maybachs too."
Through it all, Xander maintained a polite smile, occasionally giving her a brief reply.
However, he didn't reject her directly, nor did he clarify our relationship.
He didn't even refute Erika's assumptions about his background.
His ambiguous attitude only convinced Erika she was right, and her eyes sparkled with excitement, "Xander, you're different from other guys. Any other guy with money would broadcast it to the world, but not you. You're so modest."
Xander let out a couple of awkward laughs, "Not really."
Erika glanced back at me, deliberately pulling her short skirt higher, as if suddenly aware of my presence, "Corrine is walking in high heels. She must be difficult. I'll help her."
She then stormed toward me, pretending to accidentally bump me over, then quickly bent down to help me up.
In doing so, her short skirt almost rode up to her waist, and before she managed to get me back on my feet, she held that position for a good while, making sure Xander got a full view.
Xander's face flushed all the way to his ears.
I rubbed my twisted ankle and scolded, "Are you out of your mind?"
She feigned innocence, "I just saw you struggling in heels and wanted to help."
Seeing my ankle twisted and my hand bruised, Xander rushed over and lifted me in his arms.
My heart warmed at his gesture, but his words quickly cooled it, "Never mind, your classmate meant well."
Erika shrieked, "Aren't you siblings? Isn't that a bit too close?"
I flashed a faint smile, "Who said we're siblings? This is my boyfriend."
I distinctly felt Xander's arms tighten around me.
