Chapter 4 A day in hell

"you're late." Alexandro said as soon as Kylie got into the passenger seat of the shiny,black Mercedes. The inside of the car was lavishly sinful and smelt like new leather.

Kylie raised an annoyed brow at him and it has only been few seconds with him. Could she actually pull this off?.

"Can you just drive?" She fired back at him. Alexandro didn't say a thing but he also didn't start the car. He just glared at her.

"Weren't we getting late like a minute ago? Just drive already!." Kylie snapped at him. Kylie flinched a little under Alexandro's intense,silent glare. And she almost squeaked as Alexandro leaned into her.

His spicy,musky cologne filled her nostrils as she looked up into those green pools which had turned relatively darker with an uncertain look passing through them.

His jaw ticked followed by the click of the seatbelt. He then leaned back into his seat,relaxed back and gripped the steering wheel a little too forcefully.

"You could have just told me to fasten the seatbelt,you didn't have to do it. Kylie said as soon as she collected herself.

Alexandro sighed then said "thought you didn't want to talk to me huh". Kylie clamped her mouth shut and rolled her eyes. Was she flustered because of the little stunt Alexandro pulled or because she thought for a tiny fraction of a second that he was going to kiss her. She quickly shook her head and tucked that nasty thought at the back of her mind.

"So who are we meeting today?" Kylie asked.

"Guess you'll have to find out" Alexandro answered curtly as Kylie rolled her eyes. She had almost forgotten how arrogant the Castillo heir can be. It won't hurt him if he answered properly for once. They drove in silence which gave her the opportunity to make up her mind about what to tell her father. She had to sound convincing or he would see right through her lie. She had almost told him everything yesterday night at dinner when he asked about the hospital. Kylie had never been good at lying since day one.

She was so deep in thoughts that she didn't notice that the car had already stopped and was now parked in a surprisingly nice basement parking lot. She quickly unfastened the seatbelt trying to run out of the car and after Alexandro when she saw he was holding the car door open for her. She quirked a brow at him and his mouth curved down in amusement.

" Is this your house"? Kylie asked as she followed him to the elevator and he typed in the passcode. "Yes,it is". Alexandro said. The elevator dinged and opened up to the most expensive house Kylie had ever seen. Her jaw dropped to the floor as she almost drooled over the building . The place was monstrously huge and everywhere was perfectly immaculate.

"You mean you stay here?" This was a rhetorical question as she was astounded by the architectural masterpiece. Who wouldn't die for a house like that?!

"Your house is very beautiful but why did you bring me here?" Kylie asked

"I'll be right back " Alexandro said as he walked across the rich,tiled floor down the hallway. Kylie was staring at the ridiculously expensive paintings on the wall when Alexandro came back with a man whom she presumed to be his father.

"Kylie meet my father, Mr Edward Castillo. And dad,this is my fiancee, Kylie Smith . Alexandro quickly introduced them. Kylie was taken aback but quickly recovered and offered Edward a handshake. "Hi, Mr Castillo. Pleasure to meet you".

One could almost miss the perceptible questioning brow Edward gave his son if you didn't look closely . He returned the handshake and said " pleasure meeting you too. Do have a seat please.

A shiver ran down Kylie's spine. She never imagined Alexandro would be so thoughtful as to introduce her to his parents or was it because of the warm hand resting on her lower back. Some servants immediately brought in all sorts of desserts in every shape,size and color with some champagne to go with and set them on the table. Kylie's eyes widened at seeing so much food at once but she tried to compose herself. "Your girlfriend is quite beautiful" Edward said humorlessly.

"Yes,she is" Alexandro replied dryly. One could almost feel and grab the electric tension between them.

"So Kylie,tell me more about yourself" Edward continued. Kylie swallowed an inevitable lump and said " my name is Kylie Smith. I'm 26 years old and I work as an intern at St Charles General Hospital and I live with my father in the southern part of the city.

"Interesting,so why don't you live with your mother?" Edward asked

Pain flashed through Kylie's eyes as she said through gritted teeth " my mother and brother died in a car accident four months ago".

One could almost miss the hard glare Alexandro shot his father. "Oh,I'm sorry about that". Edward said.

"It's fine " Kylie replied.

"Well it was nice meeting you but I have something to attend to. Please do enjoy the food" Edward said as he stood up then also added "Alexandro,I would like to see you in my room. Now. Do have a nice day Kylie."

Kylie nodded as Edward walked down the hallway then Alexandro said "I'll be right back,just wait here". He also walked down the hallway and disappeared into one of the many rooms leaving Kylie to her thoughts and many tasty dessert.

"Alexandro,what in heaven's name are you doing? You know exactly who that girl is right?" Edward fired at his son the moment he stepped into the room.

"Dad,I know what I'm doing. Just trust me on this one, it'll all work out." Alexandro said.

Edward shot his son a warning glance and said " I just hope to God that you don't create a mess".

"I won't " Alexandro said then turned around and walked down into the great living room to find Kylie enjoying the many deserts on the table. She quickly stood as soon as she saw him and he said with a rather hard voice " let's go back".

She picked up her handbag and followed him into the car.

They drove in silence for a while then she finally broke the ice and said " it was very thoughtful of you to think of introducing me to your family." Alexandro shrugged then said " it was necessary,they are gonna be your family for a year after all ". They continued in silence after that till he dropped Kylie off on the sidewalk of their house.

Kylie gave him a cold "thank you" and bade him goodbye. Alexandro nodded and sighed wearily as he entered his car. He was thoroughly exhausted.

Kylie entered the house and went into her room. She had to tell her father today but she didn't know how to.

She sighed as she picked up the phone and dialed Eleanor's number. She picked up on the first ring and squealed in her usually high pitched voice " hey Kylie, it's been long since we spoke, how've you been?"

Kylie said "can you come to my house right now ?"

"Sure thing,I'll be right there" Eleanor's house was quite close to Kylie's. It was probably just a two-minute trek.

They both sat on the floor and Kylie said "I'm getting married".

Eleanor stared at her in shock for quite a few seconds then finally said when she found her tongue " what the actual fuck? When. How . With who. Why. What's going on? I need answers right now!."

Kylie then clarified " it's a fake marriage contract " Eleanor pretended to faint dramatically. " Just calm down,will ya. I have to pretend to be his wife for one year so he can inherit his family's will and I get 10 million dollars and we both go our separate ways". Kylie explained.

Eleanor squealed in delight and hugged her saying" I'm so happy for you,this is such a good offer". Then Kylie said " but you have to cover for me because my father can never find out that the is a fake marriage

Eleanor rolled her eyes and said "that's not a problem at all,I got you covered honey". She hugged her again and said "I'm so glad you told me this".They continued like that for a while before Eleanor finally went back to her house.

At dinner that night , Kylie kept picking at her food and her father asked her what was the matter. "I'm getting engaged to Alexandro Castillo,yes the one you know. We've been talking for some time now and we're in love".

"I'll have to meet and speak to him first before I can give my blessing". Kylie swallowed and nodded.

They then continued their dinner in peace
