Chapter 4 The long cold night

Victor Rodriguez waited patiently in the large guest room made of glass and different shapes of lights that beautified it.

We walked in, Lily and I, covered with veils. My parents sat on their separate thrones, looking. While we passed my parents, I could hear my mum's tears from her heart.

I felt like wiping them but it was late already, her beloved husband had promised me to an unknown god.

Probably a devil. We both walked before Victor Rodriguez, Lily gave way for me to be at the front.

Victor Rodriguez was about to unveil me. I felt the silent tension in the room. He touched the tip of my veil, about to raise it up...

"Stop! I know you don't mind disrespecting me but accorded me the last respect by obeying our traditions here. You only unveil your bride in your bedroom!" Victor smiled vilely.

"Good! I should say, thank you for honoring your promise, Rex. I will leave with my bride now," the wolves stood, leading the way.

I looked back at my parents for the last time, then I saw my father's face, his mouth shaking. He was feeling my absence already.

My mum was already crying a river. It was like her precious daughter was about to be taken to the slaughter. I couldn't cry anymore because my plan had just been fulfilled.

Getting to his horse, the wolves laid down for me to climb. Victor gave me a hand to get up the horse's back.

Lily was given another horse and we rode away, seeing the castle for the last time, it felt like my world was being left behind me.

I wanted to drop dead on the spot so badly but death was far from me now.

I felt this crazy vein rush through my nostrils, cracking my tears up like seed suddenly germinating swiftly, quickly spreading its branches and growing leaves, it's weird but that was how I felt and it prompted me to want to cry, but I hardly kept my cool.

Never saying a word.

We continued on our journey, riding into the forest, I was afraid but he wasn't, his confidence screaming George of the Jungle. No , It's Jaguar Paw, because he wasn't smiling.

The two giant werewolves at the front led and sniffed a better way for us to follow. I tried to read his mind but nothing. He was blank, not showing emotions nor anything.

Just focused on the trees. But something in me kept telling me that he knew what he was doing because from the side of my eyes, his face was switching reactions a bit.

Like he was trying to connect with my soul but I was blank.

Maybe because I was forced into marriage. But yet I felt like he was asking himself a lot of questions about me, while trying to keep his godly composure.

I could feel the journey was suddenly boring to him, just then, I feared!

"Stop!" The werewolves halted, with like legs drifting car tires, screeching on tar, so were the horses.

To my greatest shock, the two large werewolves transformed into human beings, heavily built men. They came and bowed before him. Their gazes, quizzical.

Victor Rodriguez began to observe me, I couldn't figure out what he was looking at on my veil or into my hardly transparent net, but it was like something was amiss.

I began to disturb my thoughts immediately, I became very afraid. My body slowly trembled.

"Take off the veil, now!" My body shook, I was so afraid now, with all eyes on me, I wanted to resist but then my lips were heavy to part ways for me to purge out my mind.

"I said, take off the veil, now!"

"But this isn't your bedroom and it's against..." Before I could listen to everything she had to say, Victor Rodriguez flung the veil away and it flew in the air like Aladdin's magic carpet.

He's shocked! And my cover had been blown.

I felt like the ground should just open immediately and swallow me! Because I could feel the heat of his amber eyes on her.

Surprised ? Yes, I was never there, sorry!

My imagination predicted to me everything that was happening immediately they left the palace. I felt for them now.

Oh Lily, my love.

Was he going to burn her?

His amber eyes could do so, judging from the way he gazed at my father in the castle. His expression changed, it wasn't darkening and the prostitute was afraid now.

It wasn't winter but she was shivering before him. She couldn't spill the beans, of course I had paid her well for the job.

But then, Lily feared for what would happen to her and stepped forward.

"She's just a determined prostitute eager for a husband, sir. This wasn't her fault at all."

"Then why trick me?!"

"The princess did, she was forced to marry you and wouldn't. I'm sorry. Please, the king has no hand in this."

Everywhere was suddenly quiet. Victor didn't say a word. He stepped down and moved away into the woods, maybe to take in air.

For a moment, he returned.

"We shall rest now and prepare for tonight," everyone stepped down from their horses and sat on the underbrush.

The werewolves, observing for any incoming predators. Lily and the prostitute muttered, about what he meant by getting ready for tonight.

While I slept in my bed, I heard a knock.

My mum came into my room, crying, feeling everything that had to do with me. From my hiding, I pitied her and tears dropped from my eyes.

How was I to continue this game in my own house?

I should have been with my husband by now, right?

But here I was, living the life of a prey, my parents predators. It was crazy but I kept still till she left the room.

I quietly locked my door and laid on the bed. Tears rolling down the bridge of my nose. I felt my cheek laying on the damp bed soaked with my tears, until I slept off. I didn't believe I wasn't hungry.

While I was sleeping, I could feel myself hanging asleep in the air. It was so cold , I felt like I was sleeping in the woods, outside the castle couldn't be this cold.

I tried to wake up but I couldn't. I was in an unknown realm struggling to get back to my physical self.

All of a sudden, I felt like I was in a comfortable bed again. More softer than my bed even. But this bed was weird, furs all around it.

It was cold but suddenly, I began feeling warm again, like the bed was some cold detector that knew how I felt inside me.

I had the best cool and warmest sleep i never had in my life.

In the dark realm of my sleeping eyes, I suddenly felt an orange color reflection, gradually rising till its full potency.

It brightened my sleep that I couldn't sleep again and woke up. It was morning and I wasn't in my bed anymore.

Christ on a bike!!
