Chapter two

She picked up her laptop and stormed off to her room, locking the doors.She clicked on the job offer that had been sent to her last week,she had no reason why she applied in the first place.

She immediately sent an email to them, requesting if the job offer was still open, hoping to accept the position of a script writer.

Her dream had always been to be a lead actress but however fate had other plans,she hardly got any parts in any drama.

Waiting anxiously for their email,she saw another notification.

Starlight productions

She clicked open on the email and her eyes widened in shock.

3000 USD per script,her eyes widened in shock. She had never seen so much money,she only got income by doing scrappy commercials that never earned her more than 500 USD.

But at what cost, hopefully she prayed to get a script inorder be able to give her boyfriend the money.

She sent an email to them accepting the offer,saying she would resume work by next Monday.

She didn't know if she just made the right decision or not but either way it was worth it since she was doing it for love.

"Selena open the door please, it's not reasonable to accept the job offer. Look I will give you the money to give Jake but don't throw yourself out there"she heard her best friend relentlessly bang her room door.

Selena was still angry at her but instead pushed her aside and went to open her room door for her.

"I already accepted the job offer,I am to resume by next week"

Olivia looked at her angrily and folded her arms, "what did we say about making decisions alone?"

"Olivia see, the pay is 3000 USD per script,if I could work so hard I could earn us both a decent lifestyle,I mean your photography and my scrappy commercials won't sustain us for life"

"And does that mean you throw your body for a man,who does that? If he truly loves you, do you think he would allow you to risk your life like that?"

"Enough please"

"And where is the ring?"

"He might be saving it to propose when he can afford a decent lifestyle for us both"

Her best friend looked at her in awe, "really? Selena but you have been the one feeding him?"

Selena didn't reply to her,she stepped out of her room, shoving her aside, taking her car keys from the coach she turned her direction to outside the door.

"See the time Selena, where do you think you are going?"

"To ask Jake about the ring"

"Then take me with you!"

They both got inside her car and Selena drove off,she started the car engine but it refused to work,she remembered Olivia gave it to her as a birthday gift despite them being so poor,and her so called boyfriend forgot to wish her,she always came up with excuses for him despite her always finding something to give him on his birthday but it was fine as long as he loved her.

She parked in front of his house,he had entrusted her with the keys of his house and she unlocked it.

"Jake?"

Her and her best friend heard no response,maybe he was not at home,sighing frustrated she turned her back to leave but heard some loud sounds like panting and moans.

Perhaps he was in danger.

Running like a mad woman,she opened the door of his room.

And her eyes widened in shock,he was sweating furiously but no one was in the room.

The scent of sweat and cheap perfume filled the atmosphere,her stomach crunches in distaste, something felt off, Jake what's going on?

His upper body was revealed.

Was he perhaps exercising or what?

"Jake? Why are you sweating so furiously"

Her best friend too curled an eyebrow.

"You didn't tell me you were coming and bringing your friend"

"What were you doing Jake?"

"I am a man who needs Selena,is it a crime to masturbate on his own?"

Olivia looked at him irritatedly as he buckled his trousers, "good evening you both,why this time though?"

"We came to ask about the ring, I saw you purchasing a ring at the jewelry store,where is it?"

Olivia was the one too speak,her anger slowly rising subtly, "my friend needed me to pick a ring for him, that's why"

Olivia eyes scanned the room as she encircled him as if looking for something, "please leave"Jake's annoyance peaked,Olivia didn't say a word,she just held her best friend hand and stormed out of the door ,as soon as they got in the car,she was awfully quiet.

"Olivia what's wrong? You seem very angry?"

"He is cheating on you"

"Stop it,you are unbelievable"

"You can't understand probably because you are a virgin,I know a man that is having s*x when I see one,he probably hid her in time"

"He said he was masturb..

"For once Selena believe me,he said his friend asked him to buy the ring but I saw the ring box on his shelf and let's ignore that,are any of his friends in a relationship?"

The puzzles where begining to add up, "I don't believe it Jake would never cheat on me"

"Like I knew it,I knew you would be this dense. That is why I quickly chipped in a microphone and a webcam while looking around.

She brought out her phone as they watched him quickly lock the door and check if the coast was clear,he wasn't doing anything suspicious.

"You see Olivia you have missed...

Her voice hung on her throat as she saw him bring out her own step sister from under the bed.

Olivia had told her to wait and be astonished but now she was astonished for the wrong reasons.

"That girl is so irritating,I don't know why I would give her the keys to my house,I should change the locks of my room."

"Baby what about the money?"

"Don't worry she will give it to me"

She watched as he went down on one knee,and opened the ring out to propose to her.
