Chapter 4 The Weeding Night Escape

The grand hall of the Romano estate was adorned with opulent decorations, celebrating the union of two powerful mafia families. Guests mingled, their conversations a murmur beneath the lavish chandeliers. Yet, amidst the celebration, Sofia Romano felt a profound sense of dread.

As the evening progressed, Sofia excused herself, retreating to the sanctuary of her private quarters. The weight of her decision pressed upon her, but the thought of a life with Ricardo DeLuca was unbearable. She had to escape.

Isabella, her loyal maid, awaited her. "Is everything prepared?" Sofia inquired, her voice trembling.

"Yes, Signorina," Isabella replied, revealing a bundle of clothing. "This attire will help you blend in."

Sofia quickly changed into the simple garments, concealing her identity beneath a worn cloak. She glanced around her room, taking in the life she was about to leave behind. "Thank you, Isabella. I don't know how I can ever repay you."

"Your safety is all the reward I need," Isabella assured her.

With a final nod, Sofia slipped out of her room, navigating the dimly lit corridors of the estate. The sounds of celebration grew distant as she approached a secluded side exit. Her heart raced, each step bringing her closer to freedom.

Outside, the cool night air greeted her. She pulled the cloak tighter around herself and made her way to the stables, where a trusted stable hand had prepared a horse for her journey.

"Safe travels, Signorina," he whispered, helping her mount.
