Chapter 6 Can I Borrow Rhett For A Moment

Danica was referring to the pigeon pair left behind by Edmond Lawson, Julian's older brother.

Years ago, a devastating car accident set off a series of tragic events; Sienna heroically saved the pigeon pair at the cost of her own legs, while Edmond died, burned in flames.

The echoes of his agonizing screams once terrorized Sienna in her sleep.

That day changed the course of many lives unpredictably.

Sienna, once the cherished darling of the elite circle, was confined to a wheelchair, while Edmond, a renowned business magnate, faced an unexpected demise.

In the aftermath, Julian, previously overshadowed by his older brother, suddenly found himself in the limelight.

Bringing herself back to the present, Sienna said, "I haven't seen them in a long time."

Danica replied, "Exactly. They're five now and will be returning to the country soon. My husband's health has been failing, and his thoughts often wander to his great-grandchildren. Knowing they're back brings him immense joy."

Gently squeezing Sienna's hand, she said, "You should join us for the family banquet."

Sienna responded with a warm smile, "I'd be honored."

Throughout the dinner, Ivy attempted to keep the discussions engaging, yet Danica's distant demeanor suggested her attendance was solely for Sienna.

Sienna, seated beside Julian, felt a certain tension.

His presence was almost overwhelming, and the cologne he wore kept drifting into her nose.

It was a blend of cedar and sandalwood, calm and elegant, with a hint of pepper that added a subtle edge of assertiveness.

Curiously, it brought to mind a men's cologne she had once designed for Berry Corp.

Lost in thought, she was brought back by Julian's voice.

"Mrs. Wells, do you have expertise in perfumery?"

After a moment's pause, Sienna modestly replied, "It's more of a pastime than a profession."

"I'd like to ask a favor," he continued, his voice deep and unhurried. "My sister-in-law is coming to the country, and I'd like to present her with a unique perfume. Could you possibly create one for her?"

Sienna inquired about any particular preferences he might have.

Julian simply said, "No particular preferences. Please, feel free to use your creativity."

Sienna was prepared; she had been compiling various perfume recipes for Ivy's birthday, along with a few of her own inventions, ensuring the task would be effortless.

Sitting calmly, Julian couldn't shake the memory of holding her, her gentle body resting against him. He felt a lump in his throat.

"We should swap our contact details. I'll stop by to pick it up once it's ready," he suggested.

While searching her bag for her phone, Sienna accidentally pulled out a dark green handkerchief instead.

Julian raised an eyebrow at the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on the handkerchief.

Sienna's heartbeat quickened upon seeing the handkerchief; she hadn't left the house for days and had forgotten to dispose of it. She swiftly tucked it back into her bag.

However, Julian, in a playful tone, asked, "Do you like dogs?"

"Oh, yes, I do," Sienna replied evasively, fumbling to open her social app to exchange contact details.

Julian watched her scramble, his amusement growing.

She had cherished a personal item of his.

Silently, Sienna resolved to dispose of it once she returned home.

Danica observed her grandson's amused expression thoughtfully.

Later, Natalia approached with a request for Sienna, hoping to perform a duet for Ivy.

"Sienna, it's a duet. Can I borrow Rhett for a moment?"

All eyes were on Sienna, making refusal seem petty. She turned to her husband, asking, "Would you like to sing?"

Rhett, ever the gentleman, responded, "I'll do whatever my dear wife says."

Sienna, while inwardly rolling her eyes, kept her smile. "Actually, I know the song too. Let's sing the song together to wish Ivy a happy birthday, Natalia."

Natalia was taken aback. "The song has a high note. Are you sure you can manage it?"

"Absolutely."

With no room for objection, Natalia conceded, albeit with hesitation. "Fine, it's been some time since we last performed together."
