Chapter 5 A Painful Rejection

Six months later....

Gazing outside the window, Danika sighed as her eyes moved around, gazing at the fountain and the blossoming flowers in the garden not so far off.

Another sigh escaped her lips as her eyes landed on her protruding stomach, her baby was growing so well.

Just then, footsteps came and she raised her head to see the head maid "Ma'am, the concoction is getting cold, please drink it while it's still hot, master won't want you skipping your medicines"

Danika smiled, as she brought her eyes to the white ceramic plate on the table, a greenish concoction was inside.

This was what she was made to drink every morning to keep the baby healthy and small for easy delivery.

Just like how he wanted it in the signed contract, She got pregnant with his child.

Since the day the physician confirmed that she was pregnant with his child, she hasn't set her eyes on him ever again. It's been six months now and he had never come to her quarter, she wondered if he was alright.

Sighing, Danika grabbed the plate of concoction and brought it close to her lip but then she winced.

"Is it the same pain you said you were feeling earlier??"

Danika nodded "Yes it is, it keeps going and...Arghh" She cried out this time around and The head maid panicked a bit as she rushed to her side and took the plate from her before she dropped it on the table.

They soon rushed Danika to the pack's hospital where she delivered her Twin Pups, Danika was woken up by Dain's voice.

"Doctor, is she going to be fine, and what about my child??" Dain's voice called out and Danika locked gazes with him.

Dain stared at Danika for a while before turning to look at the doctor for answers.

Danika also wanted to know if her child was okay.

"Alpha Dain, Well, there's bad and good news"

Danika's heart leaped in fear and Dain squinted his gaze at the doctor.

"Good news first" Dain spoke.

"The lady gave birth to two sons"

Danika closed her eyes as she thanked the goddess for the children.

"Bad news?" Dain asked, concealing his excitement.

"Umm" the doctor hesitated for a while before saying "The first child is stillborn but the second son is alive"

Dain's eyes dropped in regret before he turned to look at Danika, Tears brimmed in her eyes as she shook her head slowly.

Dain could see the pain in her eyes and he said to the doctor "Leave"

The doctor bowed before he left them alone in the room to sort themselves out.

Dain gritted out "I bought you remember??"

"But I am your mate!!" Danika argued as her tears rolled out.

Dain bit his lower lip before he growled out "I only wanted an heir and that's the reason I bought you and you know this, you can't be with me!"

Danika broke down as his words resounded in her ear but he continued "I will leave with my son and you can go on with your life after this, act as if you never met me and forget everything about me and our son"

Danika cried out "I can't leave my son"

Dain shouted as he ran out of patience "We agreed to this remember?? You can't stay..."

"Why??" Danika shouted back for the first time and Dain blinked.

How could he tell her he didn't want her because that would be putting her life at stake??

He didn't despise her but he can't let her stay else...

"I can pay you off as well and reward you handsomely"

Danika was shocked "You want to pay me for birthing my son??"

Dain's eyes deepened as he made a decision, his fist tightened as he said "I, Alpha Dain Ivanov Of Blue Moon Pack, Reject You, Danika Lane As My Mate" His mind was made up.

He had to do this.

Danika's heart shattered as she cried "I Accept Your Rejection"

The mate bond broke and it hurt her, she couldn't believe things ended this way after all, she watched Dain leave with her son.

Danika fell back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling of the hospital, her eyes clouded by her tears and the doctor came in to check her pulse.

He didn't know what happened but the Alpha had left with the newborn child.

After checking her pulse, he made to leave when one of the nurses came in.

"Doctor, we sense life in the child that was supposed to be a stillbirth" She hurriedly said and the doctor became ecstatic.

Hearing that, it seemed a glimmer of hope finally came to her as Danika shut her mouth as she watched them talk.

"Go take care of the child" The doctor urged the nurse out "While I go inform the Alpha of this good news"

"Doctor..." Danika quickly called out and the doctor halted in his footsteps while the nurse left.

The doctor was left alone with Danika in the ward and Danika bit her inner cheek before uttering "The child, Can I have him? Please doctor"

Seeing the doctor's face change, Danika hastily cried out " If Alpha Dain knows that the other child is alive, he will also take him from me, please help a desperate mother, don't let me be separated from either of my sons, and if you tell him the other child is still alive..." Her eyes sparkled

"He might drop you from your position as a head doctor, saying that you aren't professional enough and made the wrong predictions and claimed a baby was stillborn but alive"

The doctor frowned as Danika kept making him see reasons with her "Think about it, you know of his nasty temper and how brutal he is, he hates being played and he'll think of you as incompetent and worst still, kill you"

The doctor's face turned red as he sighed deeply "What are you saying now?"

Danika quickly grabbed this opportunity "Let's keep the child a secret, let me take him away without Alpha Dain's knowledge of it"

The doctor remained quiet for a while before saying "Promise to keep this a secret"

Danika nodded "I will doctor "

The doctor nodded again before saying "The child will be brought to your ward and to be on the safer side, you must leave Blue Moon pack"

Danika made a firm decision while tightening her fist "I will"

Danika sighed as the doctor walked out of the ward and she could only whisper "This is a new beginning for us now, Zetia"
