Chapter 5 Unexpected fortune

After several hours of flying, the plane came to a halt at their destination. When they stepped off the plane, a cold yet welcoming breeze hit Delina's face, making her smile. She could sense that this country would bring them good fortune.

After checking out, Karen made a phone call, and soon after, a black, flashy car pulled up in front of them. The driver stepped out, smiling warmly.

"My name is Desmond, and I'll be your personal driver for now," he said, maintaining his smile.

"O-oh, okay, thanks," Karen replied, flustered by the unexpected treatment. *A personal driver for me?* she wondered, trying to figure out why she was being treated so well. Delina remained silent but was equally stunned by the warm reception. Exhausted from the long journey, she fell asleep during the drive to their residence.

After about an hour's drive, the car passed through a large black gate. They drove for a few more minutes before arriving at a beautiful house with a fountain in the middle of the compound. Flowers adorned the surroundings, and elegant statues stood majestically, giving the house a palace-like feel.

Karen was awestruck by the beauty and design of the place, guessing that they might have come to visit the CEO of Apex Company in this country. When the car stopped, Karen gently tapped Delina awake. As she got out of the car, Delina was equally amazed by the surroundings.

"Wow... this place is beautiful," she said, unable to hide her amazement.

Several maids, dressed in elegant uniforms, approached to carry their bags and luggage.

"Ma'am, please follow me," said a man who had just emerged from the house, speaking in a calm tone. Judging by his attire, it was clear he was the butler of the house.

Karen and Delina followed the butler closely as he led them inside. They were even more astonished when they entered. The interior design was luxurious, filled with paintings from both old and modern eras. The golden carpet complemented the overall design, adding to the opulence.

After leading them to the master bedroom, the butler spoke. "Mrs. Lane, this is your room. As for Miss Mason, you'll need to follow me."

"Wait! Let her stay with me tonight," Karen said quickly.

"As you wish, ma'am. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ring the bell inside the room."

"Okay, thanks," Karen replied, still trying to figure out what was going on. She opened the door and walked into the room, her eyes widening in surprise. The room was enormous and spacious, with a king-sized bed on one side. Warm paintings hung on the walls, adding a cozy atmosphere.

"Are you sure we didn't walk into the wrong house?" Delina asked, still confused by everything. Why would the owner allow them to stay in the master bedroom?

"I'm just as confused as you are," Karen replied. Before she could say more, her phone rang, displaying a foreign number from Helix City. She hesitated for a moment before answering.

"Hello, Mrs. Lane. It's Dr. Robert. Um... do you like the house arrangements?" said the voice on the other end.

"Oh... good day, Dr. Robert. Well... the house is beautiful, and the arrangement is perfect. Umm... don't tell me you arranged this house for me?" Karen asked, feeling overwhelmed.

"Of course, it's yours. Remember the house papers you signed last week? That's this house. It's yours now."

Hearing this, Karen's eyes widened in disbelief, and her hands began to tremble with excitement. "Oh my God! Dr. Robert, this is too much! How can I ever repay your kindness?" she said, tears welling up in her eyes.

Sensing her emotions, Dr. Robert composed himself. He chuckled softly. "Just consider it a reward for your devotion. Besides, why should the head of a big company live in a modest house? Enjoy your stay, and call me if you need anything," he said before ending the call.

As the call ended, Karen came back to her senses and wiped her tears. Delina, not understanding what had just been said, became concerned.

"Is something wrong?" she asked.

"No, Lina, I'm just... happy. Lina..." Karen's eyes filled with tears again. "This house is ours!"

Hearing Karen's words, Delina almost fainted from joy. She hugged Karen tightly, ignoring her baby bump. "Oh my God! What a blessing! We're so fortunate..." Delina exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.

"Lina, you're my blessing. Ever since you came into my life, I've felt so blessed," Karen said seriously.

"I must say I'm lucky to have you! You're heaven's gift to me," Delina replied, her eyes brimming with tears.

So far, meeting each other had been a blessing, and neither of them would ever let go of that bond.

Meanwhile, in Helix City, Dr. Michael sighed deeply after ending the call. He could only hope his feelings would end here. He had given Karen all the best things he could to ensure she lived well. Even if he saw her happy in another man's arms, he wouldn't feel bad, knowing she was content. Some things in life you long for, but can never have. He deleted Karen's contact, knowing she wouldn't need to call him anymore, as he had provided everything she would need.

The next thing on his agenda was to change his number, so he wouldn't feel drawn to her if she ever tried to call again. His wedding was in three days, and though his eyes flickered with sadness, he knew it was inevitable. He wished Karen could have been the one he'd marry, but it was impossible. He reached for a cup of coffee on his desk and took two large gulps, suppressing his emotions
