"Don't give me that...you're becoming a better actor than I am" Elsa said
Ava raised her brow
"What do you mean by that"
"I saw the Alert on your phone, how many zeroes...let's see,three...four?" She grinned
"You meddling..." She couldn't complete her statement when her phone rang
It was Her Boss.... Ethan
She sighed
perfect timing
"Hello" she said as she picked the call
"You drive right?" his voice came through almost immediately
Ava paused, checked the clock it was 8:35pm
"Working hours are over"
"I'll text you the location, be there in ten" He said and hung up
She brought the phone from her ear and stared at it in disbelief
"I...I should just kill this bastard" she said throwing invisible punches
Elsa looked at her puzzled
"You've sure been weird lately..." She stood up dramatically
"... Oh no,are you sure we didn't switch bodies"
Ava pushed her away
"I have no time for nonsense,I need to work" she said entering her room to change

Ethan sat by the window watching as the light snow fell, he missed Louisa on a day like this but he wouldn't call her no he couldn't,he was sure she probably hated him,he didn't blame her...who wouldn't?
Ava, his secretary came into view
He moved his eyes away sighing out loud, his eyes went elsewhere,to the bartender, the couple beside him
Okay that was the wrong place for his eyes to go
He wandered why he wasn't in the VIP area at that moment, his eyes finally went back to Ava she was close now, he scoffed as he observed her, she walked clumsily, she was pretty but everything seemed off
But the decision he was about to make was more
Their eyes met and for a brief second he held her gaze, she broke it off with a frown and a hurried wave indicating that he came out
Some nerves the girl had,he sighed and stood up
"You're not drunk" she said with surprise as he walked towards her
He scoffed
"You brought me out here on this cold night, when you're not drunk?"
"Did I sound drunk over the phone" his voice was filled with irritation but she was too annoyed to notice
"I don't know "
He brought out keys and threw it at her
"I might not be drunk as you wanted but I hope you can listen to what I have to say to you" he said as he walked towards the car
Once they were seated and she was driving self aware that it was the smoothest ride she'd been in
He cleared his throat
"Are you firing me...again?"
"You have weird expectations" He said
Bla bla bla she mimicked in her mind
"I want you to join me in a family dinner"
Ava stared at him through the rearview mirror gobsmacked
"I don't understand"
He looked at her taking in her reaction, she was the one who said she would do anything for him, he didn't have to force her
"Why do you look so surprised"
"Do I?" She said immediately reverting her gaze to the road
Ethan lips curved without his consent
"And you don't have nice clothes"
"What do you mean by that?,why are you paying attention to my clothes"
"You sometimes forget that I'm your boss"
"No...I..sir" Ava winced inwardly, she had to stay cool to retain this Job, it was obvious that Ethan wanted the very opposite of that
"Where are we headed sir" she asked eager to clear the air
"South of Houston"
What did she expect from a rich bastard
"You can relax while I give you a smooth ride"
Ethan noted the sudden change and raised his brow, she was one to play sly
He sighed out and closed his eyes,if only he told her she was going to the dinner as a scapegoat in place of Louisa, his sister. He didn't want her near Vincent or any of the family members.
In Fact the main purpose of bringing Ava to the dinner was to change the course of it. He knew his grandfather planned on handing Ruby over to him and that was the last thing he wanted.
With Ava in the dining room, hopefully his grandfather won't be able to mention any of it, or maybe he would and then kill her.
He stopped himself from thinking in that direction and more so that he wouldn't feel guilty. After all she was the one that promised to do anything, that was her problem. He let himself enjoy the ride which was surprisingly smooth and peaceful

Ava wasn't sure what they were doing at the mall but she was very much pleased to see the sight, she smiled at the shimmers and decorations, she looked as people moved everywhere to get their purchases
"Are you going to keep moping around or are you joining me" Ethan's voice brought her back to reality, he had just gotten their tickets
She frowned and followed him as they went to the elevator....she didn't know she was capable of hating someone so badly
"What are we doing here?" She asked
"To get you some decent clothes"
"I never said..."
"I'm tired of hearing your voice" he cut in
Well I'm tired of seeing your stupid face she thought to herself
"Welcome to my favorite shopping destination," Ethan said, gesturing to the lavish interior. "Today, we'll find you the perfect wardrobe."
Ava's eyes widened as they entered a designer boutique. A personalized stylist greeted them, and Ethan explained, "We need a complete wardrobe overhaul. The finest materials, latest trends, and impeccable taste."
Ava raised her brows at him suspiciously and he turned away from her
The stylist presented an array of exquisite fabrics, and Ava hesitantly reached for a silk blouse. Ethan intervened,
"No, no, stupid. That's not suitable. Let me show you."
He selected a luxurious cashmere dress and threw it at her. "Try this on. I want to see how it drapes on you."
Ava hesitated, then disappeared into the dressing room. Ethan sat back not eager for her return.
When Ava emerged, the dress hugged her curves perfectly. Ethan's eyes narrowed, scrutinizing the fit. He wanted Ava to beat his Aunt Loretta and if possible make her react
"Almost perfect. Make the necessary alterations," he instructed the stylist.
As the stylist took notes, Ava asked, "Mr. Ethan, is this really necessary?"
Ethan nodded.
"You don't know my family do you?"
"I'm not really interested in that" it was the first time she really spoke what she was thinking
"Of course not, Bryant is going to send you the profile of each of them, you might want to study before this weekend"
She wanted to reply but the stylist swept her away
Ava at least should not be prey among his family especially if he was going to introduce her to them

"You can go home,I'll drive"
"I can't carry all these" Ava protested raising the designer bags in her hands, they had finished at the mall and she was already worn out
"Then should I drop you off" he said sarcasm in his voice
She rolled her eyes
"Bye" she mumbled, Ethan got into the car and drove off
She sighed, it was pretty late but something felt odd. What dinner was he suddenly concerned about and why come to this length in spite of his prejudice towards her?
She agreed coz it was best staying close to the enemy, and who knows something fishy might just pop up.
