Plea Of Secrecy

"Pregnant?" I asked the doctor again with wide eyes which he mistook for excitement and offered me a warm smile "Did you just say I was pregnant?".

"Yes Mrs McMichael" the doctor said as his smile widened "Although we will need to run some more tests to be completely sure but it is almost certain that you are"

"Oh" I said, not knowing what else I could say. I could not tell the doctor what had just happened in the mansion just a few hours ago and so I just stared around at his ward.

I was grateful that there was no one else in the room but my thoughts changed when I spotted Reymond just stepping into the room. No! I did not want anyone from the mansion finding out.

"Ah, dear Reymond" the doctor said in greeting as he spotted the McMichael family driver "Come to check on the condition of the Mrs?"

"Yes sir" Reymond replied casually, not showing any signs that the doctor was wrong. I was grateful that Reymond had not spoken to anyone. Although I already knew he was a loyal and sensitive worker.

"There is no need to worry at all" the doctor began and his contagious smiling resumed again "The lady is in fact...."

"Fine Reymond!" I cut him immediately, not wanting the doctor to let him in on my pregnancy. I wanted it to remain a secret "I am fine"

"Ah yes, you are" the doctor said, turning back to look at me. His eyes sweeping around my nightgown till I felt a little embarrassed "I will prescribe some medications to help with anymore pregnancy symptoms though"

It was like the very ground would open up and swallow me whole. The doctor just voluntarily told Reymond that I was pregnant and I knew that it was only a matter of time before Bradley found out as well.

"Pregnant?" Reymond asked in utter shock. He had the same look on his face which he had a while back when Bradley had ordered him and to throw my stuff out of the house.

"You heard me" the doctor chuckled this time. If only he knew the situation of the McMichael house and how this news might change things if Bradley, Vince or even Claudia got wind of it.

I just could not let that happen. I needed to talk to Reymond in private but how do I get the smiling doctor to leave?

"Wow" Reymond said before turning to look at me. His eyes holding genuine compassion and even hope "This is indeed great news"

"Doctor, yqou are needed urgently in Ward 20" a petite nurse announced as soon as she entered the room.

I was so grateful I almost laughed. But the doctor was still staring at me so I had to keep calm and not draw any suspicion to myself.

"You are perfectly fine so you might leave whenever you want" the doctor said to me as he prepared to exit the room "But don't leave without the prescriptions"

"Okay doctor" I said right before he walked out of the room with the nurse and I was finally alone with Reymond

"Mrs McMichael" Reymond began with his usual tone as he walked closer to my bedside "I am ao glad that you're okay"

"Yes Reymond thank you" i said offering him a smile. The driver and I had always had a good relationship while I was still the lady of the McMichael house and I am glad it has not changed.

"You do not seem happy Mrs...."Reymond began again but a look in my eyes made him think better of it.

"It's Rebecca!" I said barely below a shout and I was shocked by my own tone "I am so sorry Reymond. I don't know what..."

"It's alright Mrs.... I mean Rebecca" Reymond said throwing me a smile to make me relax"It might even be the pregnancy cramps"

At the mention of that, my pulse began to raise again. Reymond knew I was pregnant and if I did not stop him now, he was going to tell Bradley everything and I did not know how my ex husband would take the news.

"About that" I began slowly, rising till I was seated perfectly on the hospital bed. I looked into his eyes with a plea in mine "You can't tell Bradley or anyone about my pregnancy"

"Why?" Reymond shot out almost immediately, his eyes widening in surprise st my strange request"You are pregnant with their heir. "This is incredible news"

"No it's not" I said as tears began to roll down my eyes. "This changes nothing for me and it will change nothing to them so no one has to know"

Today had been our anniversary and it was not enough to stop Bradley from humiliating me in the manner he did, then would a child stop him?

"But that might not be the case" Reymond said, his voice shaky and low "They might welcome the arrival of their heir with great joy and you can't deny them their child no matter what they have done"

"This is my child. Mine!" I yelled as I got up to my feet and I moved to stand in front of Reymond "They do not deserve to know and that is my decision and you must promise that you will respect it"

"Mrs... I mean Rebecca...."

"Promise me!" I yelled at my former driver as tears continued to run down my cheeks"Promise me that you would not tell a single soul about this"

"Fine" Reymond finally said before stepping away from me and taking a deep breath before he remembered something and his face grew pale.

"What is it?" I asked, already growing in concern "Why do you have that face?"

"I already told Master Bradley that I had taken you to the hospital after you passed out in the car" Reymond announced and I felt like falling into unconsciousness one more time.

Just then, we heard a bunch of footsteps approaching
