Chapter 5

"I am Axel, and I am Asher's brother," the man said, introducing himself to Selene. "And you, Selene, are my mate."

"What?!" Selene's eyes widened in disbelief.

She had never heard of someone having two mates, let alone being the mate of identical twins. How was this even possible?

Selene looked to Asher, who was still standing nearby, a scowl on his face.

"W-what is the meaning of this?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

"Selene is mine, Axel," Asher declared to Axel instead, his voice cold and commanding.

"You're wrong brother," Axel shook his head, his eyes blazing with firmness. "Selene is mine, you cannot claim her when I have already done so."

"Oh really?" Asher chuckled, icily.

Selene's head spun as the two men argued over her like she was a possession to be won or lost.

"She is mine," Asher snarled at Axel, apparently he was annoyed. "You have no claim over her."

Axel's jaw clenched, and he took a step towards Selene. "You're wrong," he said, his voice cold and hard. "She is mine, and I will have her."

Selene's heart pounded in her chest, and she could feel the anger radiating off of both men.

She was caught in the middle, and she felt a sense of dread settle over her. What was she going to do?

Axel attempted to grab hold of Selene, but Asher's raucous growl shook the entire room.

"A-Asher?" Selene was already quivering, she had never seen him furious that way before.

"Stay away from her!" Asher roared his voice like a thunderstorm on the horizon.

Axel was blown away by his brother's roar, but he refused to back down.

"I will not," He regained his stance, and his gaze never wavering from Selene. "I have a right to claim her as my mate."

"She's not yours, you fucker!" Asher was gradually losing his temper, and Selene felt a knot of anxiety forming in her stomach.

These two will kill their selves if she doesn't do something!

She could actually feel the mate bond with Asher but with Axel... she could never tell.

Selene's heart raced as Axel closed the distance between him and her, and she could feel Asher's gaze burning as he came for her too.

She felt as if she was trapped, caught between two brothers as they snarled murderously at each other.

The air was intense and unsettled.

Selene felt her head reeling crazily, with the two men in front of her she couldn't point out who was Alex or Axel.

"Both of you should stop this!" Selene shouted,her voice cracking.

She couldn't take it anymore, picked up her robe, and turned on her heel as she ran out of the room.

Her breath came in gasps as she sprinted down the hallway. She needed to getaway, to find someplace where she could think clearly. Her thoughts were in a tangle, and her head was pounding.

Selene kept running down the hallway, fresh tears streaming down her face, when she collided with someone, nearly knocking them both over.

"I'm... I'm so sorry!" she quickly exclaimed, her breath coming in ragged gasps.

"Are you mad?!" The elegantly dressed lady yelled at her, her face void with anger.

Selene, however, barely noticed, as she was too consumed by her need to escape. She continued running, her feet flying across the floor.

"Tell me who was that woman!" The elegantly dressed lady demanded, her voice sharp.

She turned to the maid, her anger barely contained and the maid cowered under her gaze, her hands trembling.

"M-miss Raven, h-her name is Selene," the maid shuttered, her voice barely audible. "She is... she is the Alpha Asher's personal slave."

"Asher's slave?" Raven's eyes narrowed, it was apparent that she was surprised.

Raven became unsettled and livid. After being away for so long, she had fastened her flight when she heard Asher was back in the pack.

However, upon her return, she learned that Asher had taken a new slave and that this woman was not what she had expected. Selene was too beautiful, too far-fetched, to be a mere slave.

Raven's mind raced as she tried to think of a way to get rid of her. She had to do something -she couldn't let this upstart take her place. But what could she do?

She needed to act quickly before it was too late.

The next morning, the bright sunlight was already up in the sky.

Selene fluttered her eyes as she woke up, the last thing she expected was a knock on her door.

She rubbed her eyes, still bleary from the tears she had shed the night before.

Selene sailed away from the bed and then made her way to the door.

When she opened the door, she was met with a startling sight before her.

It was the lady she accidentally bumped into last night, and her face twisted in anger, there were a few maids standing behind her.

"You!" Raven's voice was like a thunderclap, and Selene flinched at the sound. "You are the one who bumped into me last night! Now you will pay for your insolence."

The maids behind Raven looked at Selene with cold eyes, and Selene felt her heart sink.

"W-wha-" She opened her mouth to protest, but no words came out.

"Take her!" Raven coldly commanded, and the maids seized Selene by her arms.

"What! No, please, don't!" she cried, thrashing wildly but they were deaf to her pleas.

"You will pay for your offense!" Raven's voice was like a whip, and walked away.

The maids were dragging Selene behind. Now, the pack members drew closer, their eyes wide with anticipation.

"Leave me alone!" Selene struggled against the maids' grip, but they were too strong.

They dragged her through the pack lawn, and out onto the lawn, where the entire pack had gathered.

Selene felt powerless, and she could feel all eyes on her.

Raven raised her head high and mighty, feeling proud as she took the whip from one of the maids.

She will teach this slave a lesson, and humiliate her in front of the pack.

"Please stop, I beg of you!" Selene cried, struggling as the maids kneel.

Raven smirked as she raised her hand, the whip poised to strike, when suddenly a commanding voice rang out across the lawn.

"Stop!"

Asher walked into the clearing, his face cold, and his hands crossed behind his back, as he marched up to Raven, his eyes blazing.

"Selene is mine, and you will not lay a hand on her. Do you understand? Now back down!"

"W-what!" Raven's eyes widened with surprise.

At that moment, another figure emerged from the crowd. It was Axel, his face hard.

Raven was stunned, her face turned pale.

The two alpha brothers stood beside Selene protectively. What's going on?

"Selene belongs to me, If you lay a hand on her, you will answer me." Axel's voice was low and menacing.

Everyone froze, and a wave of gasps rippled through the crowd.
