Chapter 7 Grand-daughter-in-law

In the hospital ward.

Upon seeing Kira, the previously feeble James instantly perked up, his eyes lighting up.

"Amelia! Come here! Sit next to me!"

Kira immediately complied, obediently sitting next to James.

"Mr. James, how are you feeling? Is there anything bothering you?"

"No matter how unwell I might be, just seeing you here makes me better!"

Grabbing her hand anxiously, James asked, "Amelia, I heard from that jerk you're divorced, is it true?"

"Yes, we're divorced." Kira's long eyelashes fluttered, a sense of loss in her heart.

"That fool! He let go of such a great woman. Does he think he can marry a goddess from heaven?" James struggled to sit up, glaring at Thiago.

Concerned for his grandfather's health, Thiago didn't dare to answer.

"Mr. James, don't be angry with Thiago. I didn't want to continue the marriage. Thiago and I... we are not on the same page anymore." Kira gently comforted, patting his back.

Thiago's pupils slightly contracted.

She didn't complain or incite his grandpa against him. Was she trying to win him back with this unusual method?

Kira, why are you so confident that I will be attracted to you?

"Amelia, were you mistreated in our home? Did Helen treat you poorly?" James asked with concern.

"No. Thiago and I just had different views, we couldn't understand each other's hearts. Breaking up was the best outcome for both of us."

Kira's eyes reflected a flicker of almost unnoticeable sorrow, "Mr. James, don't blame Thiago. We had beautiful memories in the past three years. That's enough. We don't regret."

Thiago frowned slightly, a complex emotion welling up in his heart.

In his memory, he didn't have any beautiful memories with Kira. He didn't even give her a proper wedding ceremony.

Just a rushed marriage registration under his grandpa's pressure, then she moved in with her simple luggage. She became his wife in name just like that.

Did she really find this beautiful? Or was it sarcasm?

"Amelia... Was I wrong?"

James' eyes moistened, he sighed with self-blame, "I truly wanted you to be happy. I never thought that jerk would be so ungrateful. I'm sorry."

Kira knew her jewelry, and she could tell at a glance that it was an antique piece, at least a hundred years old!

"Mr. James, isn't this your wife's...?" Kira asked

Thiago looked at the bracelet, his face suddenly full of shock.

"Yes, it's the love token I gave to my wife. It's an heirloom of the Anderson family, passed down from my grandfather."

James talked as he held up the bracelet to the sunlight, his eyes softened, "My wife told me before she passed away that out of all her jewelry, this diamond bracelet was her favorite. She hoped that I could give it to my approved granddaughter-in-law. She's gone now, and I want to give it to my favorite Amelia. Only you're worthy of such a fine thing."

"Mr. James, I can't, this is too precious. Besides, I'm no longer..." Kira nervously declined.

"Even if you and Thiago aren't together anymore, you're still the only granddaughter-in-law I approve of!"

Seeing her refusal, the old man got a little angry, "If you don't accept it, I'll smash it!"

"No, don't!" Kira hurriedly grabbed his hand, scared, "I'll take it, I'll take it. Thank you, Mr. James!"

"Good girl!" James happily put the bracelet on her himself.

James was so angry he smashed the bed hard, "If you still consider me as your grandfather and wish for me to live longer, stay away from that Veronica! I'm telling you, even when I'm dead I won't accept her!"

Outside the door, Veronica paced anxiously, grinding her teeth in frustration.

"Stop pacing, you're making me dizzy."

Helen rubbed her temples and shook her head, "You're too impatient. You know Mr. James attitude towards you, he's old, how long can he influence Thiago? All you need to do is to win Thiago's' heart, that's enough."

"Even so, as long as he's alive, he doesn't recognize my status, I can't marry Thiago publicly!" As soon as the words left her mouth, Veronica quickly covered it and looked around nervously.

The diamond bracelet on Kira's wrist was so beautiful that it was hard to look away, it was many times better than the so-called heirloom on her own wrist!
