Chapter 5 First Night as A Couple

After the wedding they went to Chris' house, when they got there Rhoda looked around the compound as she saw how beautiful the place was, she smiled as he asked her "How do you see the place?" she smiled as she said "It feels like home".

They got to the entrance of the house as the door was opened for them, Chris came out as he put his hand out and she put her hand in his as she came out of the car in her white short gown she wore as she changed out of her wedding gown.

They got into the house as they were welcomed in by the staff, Rhoda walked in as she smiled at the beautiful interior and decorations of the house, there were flowers as she smiled and rushed towards the flowers as she sniffed them and said "I love hydrangeas" he nodded and said "I know".

She looked at him as she walked closer to him as they could feel each other's breathe against each other then she whispered "You know the flowers I like" he looked at her as he said "Don't flatter yourself I did a little research on you and that's how I know".

She sighed as she said "I thought you would be a little romantic with your words", he turned to her as he put his hand in his pocket and said to her "Do I need to remind you of what this is, there is no love and there can never be any love between us. This is a marriage of convenience, we have no expectation whatsoever from each other so" she cut him off a she said "Okay, okay relax, I was just pulling your legs. I also don't feel anything for you and I can't wait for the three years to elapse so we can both go our separate ways after we have accomplished what we came together for".

He looked at her as he called his secretary and when he was done with the call, he said to her "Pops expects us to be at the airport ready to go to the Maldives but we don't have to, since we are not a real couple, we will stay here in my house for the weekend and by Monday I will go to the office for the CEO appointment and by evening you will be introduced to everyone as Mrs Reed, my wife".

She nodded as she said okay! he turned to leave as she held his hand, he looked at his hand as she pulled her hand away and said "I'm sorry" as he looked at her wondering why she held his hand as she said "I Just wanted to wish you good luck on the CEO appointment" he nodded as he said "Thanks" he then looked upstairs and said to her "Your room is on the left from mine" then he went upstairs.

Sher followed him as he got into his room, she looked opposite and entered the room opposite his, when she got in, it was beautifully decorated, he favorite flowers and colours were beautifully placed all around the room, she sniffed the flowers as she smiled and the n she sat on her bed as she gave a call to the maid at home who was responsible for taking care of her mom.

She picked and she asked how her mom was, the maid checked and saw Cindy and her dad were in the living room so she snuck into Rhoda's mom's room and gave her the phone to talk to Rhoda, while Rhoda was talking on the phone with her mom feeling all emotional as she had tears rolling down her cheeks.

Chris wanted to have a word with her as he knocked on her door he saw her crying while talking to her mom, for a moment there he remembered his mom and his eyes seemed teary but he is Chris Reed afterall, the man who never shows emotions so he gently closed her door and went back to his room, leaving her to talk to her mom.

Her mom asked of Chris as she lied that he was in the shower but he was going to talk to her tomorrow then they talked for a while and then they disconnected the call, the maid hurriedly left the room but Cindy caught her at the entrance of the room leaving, she looked scared like she was hiding something as Cindy studied her body movement and asked "What the kell where you doing there, did that witch Rhoda send you?" in as much as the maid hated Cindy she had to be on her best behaviour as Rhoda needed her around to watch her mom for her, all the staff that were employed by Rhoda and her mom had all been fired, she was the only one left and she knew Cindy wouldn't hesitate to fire her so she said to her,

"I am really sorry ma if I intruded but while I was walking pass I thought I heard a noise coming from the room like the madam was calling out to someone so I had to go in to check and she really was, she wanted to ease herself so I helped her do it" Cindy wasn't too convinced, she wanted to question the maid even more as Rhoda's mom called out to her then she dismissed the maid and went in to the room to see her.

"Yes mom" she said as she sat beside her step mom then her mom said to her "Why were you questioning the maid so much, she was has every right to be here infact there has to be a maid here with me everytime, imagine if I needed something would I have to call out to someone first?" Cindy apologized as she said "So sorry mom, I will hire a maid that will be by your side 24/7".

Her mom sighed as she said "There is no need to hire a new maid, I will go with Monica, I will rather have her since she is someone I trust than hire someone new" Cindy looked at her with a hint of fear and disappointment as she nodded and said okay to her then she helped her tuck in properly as she said goodnight to her and left the room.

She angrily went downstairs to her dad where he was sipping a bottle of one of the most expensive wine from the wine bar at the mansion, her dad saw her as he asked "What could possibly make my princess this angry" with an angry tone she said "that hag wife of yours", "Language Cindy, watch your language, she is your mother and you will respect her" Cindy looked at her dad shocked at the way he cut her off then they both laughed as she sat down and said to him "Wow! dad, you would be a very successful actor you know, I mean one would think you actually cared about her if they heard you just now".

He smiled as he said to her "So dear, tell me, why are you so upset" she sighed as she said to him "Your wife is trying to ruin our plans, I mean she finally decided she needed a 247 maid, we already have someone in mind like you know already but instead she chose Monica. I think it's time we fire her dad what do you think".

Her dad sighed as he took a sip of his wine with a smile and said to her "Let's leave her around, you know we have fired all the staff she knows and Monica is the only familiar face so before she smells a rat let's give her this one thing she asked for, I mean it is not too much of a request now is it" he said looking at Cindy as she said "I guess not".

With a smile on his face, he said to her "Don't worry your pretty self my dear just join me in having this exquisite bottle of wine, you will love it I tell you" she smiled as she poured herself a glass, they clinked their glass together and had a sip as they both laughed sinisterly.

All the conversation they had was quietly recorded by Monica as she sent the video to Rhoda which she watched with Chris in his study as she went in search of him. Chris sat down on the couch in his study with a black pyjamas and a robe he had on with his leg crossed as he said to her "Don't you worry, it is a good thing you know what they are after which is your family's wealth. On Tuesday after your reveal on Wednesday you will be making your first appearance in the company but before that you will need a strong foothold" she looked at him puzzled as she didn't understand what he meant so he explained to her.

"Your step father has been working in the company for years and for two years when your mom became sick, he has been the acting CEO, he is known at the company and people have seen his leadership skills, do they trust it, that we don't know but I need you to show them that you will be the best choice for CEO, as you already know, it is one thing to be the owner and have all the assets you have but being the CEO is something your mom has always wanted you to become and that should be your ultimate goal, and once you achieve that you can find a way to buy him out by buying his shares in the company".

She gave him a look as he said "I know, you must be thinking, how and why would he sell his shares to you" she nodded as he said "You will be buying it but not you, you will have to use someone else, trick him with a very catchy offer and then he will sell out to you but don't worry, I will help you get everything they want to take away from you and that is a promise he said as he didn't realize when he placed a hand on her".
