Chapter 4 The Wedding

Chris' secretary whispered something to him as he cleared his throat and said to her "To get married we will need witnesses, and for that I will have to introduce you to my grandpa alone, the rest of the family will get to meet you when we are already married".

Rhoda had a weird expression on her face as Chris said "I know, my granpa knew you dated my brother and would be shocked to see we are getting married, we can just tell him we have been friends online and when you and my brother broke up you thought you would rather just be with a friend that has feelings for you" she laughed as she said "You, feelings for me, you look like you can't have feelings for anyone" he took a deep breathe as she saw she was pissing him off with her talks so she said sorry as he continued "Don't worry, I will do most of the talking" she nodded.

She had a sad look on her face as he could sense why then he said to her "It will be nice to have your mom there at least so make plans to have her come and if you need help I will help you out" she smiled as she said "Are you telepathic, how could you read what I was thinking?" he stood up without giving her an answer as he said to her "I want you to stay here till the afternoon, your stylists will come and help you get ready for the afternoon, we will be having lunch with my grandpa and the wedding will be tomorrow".

She nodded as he left the house while she felt at home, shortly after, her stylist and everyone who was to help her get ready came in and got her ready, Chris came home after a few hours when he came she was getting ready in the guest room so he went to his room to get ready, when he was done he came out in a suit while he waited for her.

When he turned he looked from her shoes which were silver and glittering stiletto heels and her barbie doll short flay gown which was two inches above her knee, been born with a silver spoon she had a sense of class to her as she walked down the stairs like royalty, her black hair poured down as she walked down the stairs.

He was awe struck as he watched her walk down the stairs, when she got down to where he was she smiled as she knew she had him hooked then she asked "How do I look?" he cleared his throat as he said "Decent" she look at him as she nodded and said "Here I was expecting a compliment" he extended his hand as a gentleman he is to usher her out, she placed her hand in his as they left the house, got into the back seat of his Rolce Royce and they left the house to the grandpa's guest house where they were having lunch with him.

When they got there Rhoda was a little nervous, when he noticed it he handed her a gum, she looked at him as she said "Seriously, a gum" then he said "I always chew one of those whenever I feel nervous" then she understood why he gave it to her as she smiled and took it from him, she opened it and chewed it, and for a moment there she felt relieved then she held his hands with a smile and thanked him, they both looked at their hands and each other as she pulled her hand away and cleared her throat as they came out of the car and walked toward the garden of the guest house.

When they got there, they saw an elderly man looking not so elderly as he wore a shirt and trouser with a nice designer shoe, when they got there Chris and Rhoda said hi to him as he turned to look at them, he smiled upon seeing them as they walked up to him and he gave them both a hug.

He was surprised to see Rhod a as he said to her "When my grandson said he was getting married to Rhoda Alexander I was happy because I have always liked you but then you were dating Elijah so what happened?" Chris wanted to speak as he had told her he would answer all the questions but his grandpa stopped him and asked Rhoda to speak, she was a little nervous but Chris held her hand from under the table and she became brave so she started "What can I say grandpa, Elijah broke my heart in the worst way possible, he is cheating on me with my step sister Cindy".

The grandpa was shocked to hear that as he continued "Chris and I became friends on social media last year, we've been friends for over a year now and I really like him and he does too but I was with Elijah so I couldn't do anything but after we broke up I thought I should give him a chance and when he got back one of the first things he did was propose to me".

The grandfather smiled as he said to Chris "You got yourself the best girl out there you know" Chris smiled as the grand father said "So that is why you refused all the blind dates I set you up on" they all laughed except for Chris, after the death of his mom he forgot how to smile all he ever did was grin.

The grandfather expressed his excitement then he said "Please call me Pops, grandpa feels too old" So Rhoda smiled as she said "Okay Pops", they both smiled then the chefs came in and served the food as they all had lunch, when they were don e Chris started "Pops, I want the wedding to be done here, tomorrow".

Pops asked what the urgency was so Chris explained all that was going on at Rhoda's home to him as he said to Pops "I don't want anyone other than you to know about the wedding or else they might try to sabotage it in whatever way they can" Pops smiled as he said to Rhoda "I didn't know you were going through all this my dear but I am glad you will be a part of my family now and as one of us we protect our own so don't worry, things will be done exactly how you want it to be".

Rhoda smiled as they all got up and she and Chris left so they can prepare for the wedding, the following day she made all the arrangement to get her mom out of the house, her step father and Cindy stopped her but she said to them "Don't worry dad, I just want to take mom to the park, she asked that I take her out" when they looked at her mom she smiled as she told her husband not to worry as she was coming back home but she just wanted to go out a bit with Rhoda.

Cindy suggested following them so they can all have mother daughter time out but Rhoda's mom said "Cindy my dear don't you worry, I can always go out with you whenever but today is for me and Rhoda" so they all smiled as Rhoda got out with her mom, they got into their car and left. Cindy got into her car and followed them but she lost them at a point and that was because of Chris as he predicted they might be followed so he made all the necessary arrangements.

Rhoda introduced her mom to Chris as she was so happy to see the man her daughter will be getting married to, Rhoda had told her mom Elijah cheated but she didn't tell her with whom, her mom questioned why she didn't want to tell the others but she said "Mom, I just wanted this moment to be me, you and the man I love no one else, and his Pops of course" they all laughed except for Chris, her mom noticed it and asked that he laughs for her sake.

Chris had never smiled in a long time but for her mom's sake he smiled which made Rhoda happy and very grateful to him. Her mom was introduced to Pops and they all got ready for the wedding, Chris stood at the alter waiting for his bride as Rhoda came in in her white beautiful gown and veil with her friend Melia by her side walking her down the aisle, then she handed her over to Chris and went to stand by Rhoda's mom.

The wedding was officiated and the couple were announced husband and wife, and immediately after the wedding they were sent to the Maldives for their honeymoon because when they get back, they will move into the family villa where they will be living with Pops and Chris' dad.

Elijah and his mom lived separately as she is just a mistress and was never married to Chris' father but all that will change once the table turns.
