Chapter 5 Fear of the Unknown

I couldn't stop thinking about having a baby, it invades my sleep, dreams haunt me of my baby getting killed. Then having dreams that the baby grows up to be like his father and hurts people. "Kiara, do you think our child will be like its father?"

"Not with you raising him or her. Men like that are made not born."

In the morning I have rings under my eyes and look terrible. Two men help me take all my stuff out to the car, then follow me to the house and take it in for me. "Thank you for all your help." The two men walk out to the front gate and stay there. "You can go now, I can do the rest myself with my friend Aimi here."

"No, Miss Everly, Alpha's orders. We are to stay and protect you."

"He never told me about guards. I am fine without you being here."

"Sorry, we have to stay. Alpha is worried about you, give him some time and he might change his mind."

The guys next store was heading toward his house. "Hello! My name is Jay, this is my husband Evan. We are happy to have you here, the house has been empty forever."

"It's nice to meet you too, my name is Everly." The empty boxes she had in her hands fell to the ground.

"Let us help you with that. It's too much trash for you to carry by yourself."

"I appreciate it. Jay, isn't it? If you are not busy would you like to come over and have tea or coffee, I just made some homemade muffins."

"You don't mind that we are two guys and not girl-boy? Most people do."

"Why would that matter? You are happy and not hurting anyone. So, why should I care. I am new here and would like some friends."

"In that case we would love to." Both men have a smile on their face.

I yell to the guards, "Do you want a muffin?" I see the smiles on their faces. "Aimi, would you run them a muffin and a glass of orange juice?"

"I don't know how they can stand being out there in this heat. We should have given them water instead of orange juice. They're going to die out there."

"Aimi, these are my neighbors Jay and Evan. Guys, this is my best friend Aimi, she is helping me unpack."

"Where did you learn to bake like that?"

"You should taste her cooking. Evan, I'm telling you she makes the best pot roast I have ever eaten. It's even better than my mom's."

"I wish one of us could cook. Jay tries but it usually tastes toxic."

"I'm not as good as Aimi says, but if you would like to come over for dinner, I would really like that. I hate eating alone and cooking for one is no fun."

"I'd love that! You'd save me from destroying our kitchen. We can bring dessert. I can buy that and not burn it." We all erupted in laughter at Jay's comment.

"That's a deal! I'd like the company."

"Jay and I work with computers, most of the time we work from home. If you get bored and want company, just come over for a visit."

The next morning, I was on the training field. "Justin, I have been working with you and Byron every day now for two weeks, have I gotten any better?"

"You sure have. You only had the basics and now look at what you are doing. You're doing really good, but I think we should call it a day and pick it up tomorrow. Same time?"

"One more match. Come on, just one then we can call it a day."

"You have been at this for the last four hours, aren't you tired yet?"

"A little but I want to have one more match."

"One more and that's it." Halfway through the match, I start getting light-headed. Justin sees me holding my head, "I told you this was too much. Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I guess I was more tired than I thought. I think I'm going to head for home and take a nap."

"That sounds like a good idea." As he says that I get dizzy and start to fall. "Woe, Everly." Justin catches me. "Maybe you should go see a doctor."

"No, I didn't eat breakfast this morning because I was running late. I think I just need to get something to eat and a bottle of water, then go lay down for a little."

"You know better than to train without eating. Let's go, Pack house, Food, Water. Then we'll see how you feel. Anything happens to you Byron would kill me." The two of us start smirking as he nudges me with his elbow.

"I didn't know you could cook, Justin. I actually enjoyed that and see I'm already feeling better. I told you I shouldn't have skipped breakfast. I'm gonna head for home now."

"Oh no you're not! You're going to finish that bottle of water and sitting here for at least ten to fifteen minutes. I'm not taking any chances with you."

"You're so sweet. The caring, loving, Beta Justin." I can't help but tease him.

Halfway home my stomach starts churning, I quickly pull over to open my door so I can throw up. "Aimi, come visit me, I need company. I don't feel well."

"It's probably because you are starting your period. We always get it around the same time, and I started three days ago."

"Yeah, you might be right. I just don't feel right. See you when you get here." I go into the house to check the calendar. "Oh My Goddess, I'm five days late! I can't be late!"

"I'm here girl! Ready to party. Aimi stops when she sees me. EWWW you don't look too good, Everly."

"Aimi, I'm in trouble. I'm five days late." Aimi's mouth drops open. "I'm scared, what am I going to do?"

"It could be stress, it doesn't mean you're pregnant. We got to get you a test."

"How do I get a test without someone telling Byron?" Just then Jay knocks on the door, "Come in." When I see who it is I get a smile on my face. "Jay, I need you to do me a favor."

"What do you need?"

"Can you keep a secret?"

"What kind of secret?"

"I will explain everything to you later, but I need you to get me a pregnancy test, maybe three of them. I want to make sure they are right."

"What's the big deal? Why don't you just get it?"

"My brother is the Alpha, I don't want him to know. Please, I promise I'll explain everything when you get back."

"You better explain this to me, cause, girl, this is not making any sense. I'll be back in twenty minutes."

Aimi is watching me pace the floor, "Calm down! It will be alright."

"I'm trying, Aimi, I'm trying. Jay is back! Thank the goddess."

"Here, I got you three of them like you wanted."

"Jay, you're a life saver. Thank you thank you thank you. I promise when you come over with Evan for dinner, I'll explain everything."

"I have to wait until dinner? I want to know now."

"Please, Jay, wait for dinner I have to do this first." He gives me a side hug and goes home.

"Aimi, read the directions, I'm too nervous. Just tell me what I have to do."

"It's not real hard. All you got to do is take these two tests into the bathroom, remove the cap and pee on the stick. Here, I'll wait for you by the door."

"Ok, I did it. Now what?"

"Just set it down and wait."

"How long do we have to wait?"

"The box says three minutes. If it's a plus you're pregnant, if it's a minus you're not."

"Aimi I can't stop shaking, what if I am?" The buzzer goes off. "Aimi, go check for me please, I'm scared."
