Chapter 3 My father's Surprise

Our friendship deepened. We shared moments of laughter, exchanged secrets and dreams, and discussed topics ranging from the stars that adorned the night sky to the wonders of the animal kingdom.

One afternoon, I shared my fascination with the diverse bird species that graced our estate. "Your Highness, so many beautiful birds visit our gardens. I often watch them; their colors and songs resemble a living symphony."

The prince's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "I'd love to hear more about them, Ella. Can you describe some of the birds you've seen?"

"Of course, the melodious nightingales, the vibrant peacocks that strutted in their resplendent plumage, and the playful sparrows that filled the air with their cheerful chirping. That's just some of the birds that frequented our garden. With awe and wide-eyed excitement, I told him about them. "And at night I can hear the wise old owl that roosted in the ancient oak tree near our estate"

The prince listened with rapt attention, and his fascination was evident. "Ella, your descriptions bring the beauty of your world to life. It's as if I can hear the birds' songs and see their vibrant plumage before me. Thank you for sharing your world with me."

Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a sugar plum tree brimming with fruits, "Your Highness, have you tasted that plum?" Its fruit was shining like it was inviting me to take a bite.

"I don't really know because I don't eat anything that is not served on the table," He was confused as to why I was asking.

"Really? I want to taste that shall we climb?" I was tempted, I think I'm going to drool any second now.

My suggestion took him aback. "I haven't climbed a tree before." He said in amusement. I just felt my heart flip at just looking at his cute face.

"I can do it your majesty, you just have to catch the plums," I said smiling.

"Okay, I can do that"

I climbed the tree and gathered as much as I could and threw it to him and he was enjoying himself while catching the fruit one at a time. 'Hmm wow, he is a good catcher and had very fast reflex at that.' I was so engrossed with gathering as much as I could when the branch suddenly broke. I just fell and I didn't know what happened but I think he tried to catch me and break my fall but I found myself on top of him on the ground. The most embarrassing part happened when both of our lips accidentally touched in an instant.

A blush crept on my face. He just stares at me for a while before standing on his feet and assisting me to do the same.

Days passed, each brimming with its unique adventures. As I arrived home that day, my father, regrettably, had to set off again, leaving me in the company of our humble abode. Despite his absence, I cherished these moments of solitude.

Singing was my solace, my connection to the world beyond our walls. My voice danced through the rooms, filling them with vibrancy that often transported me to distant realms.

During these moments, I felt most alive, and my faithful companion, Mr. Fluffy, would curl up beside me, basking in the warmth of my songs.

I think of the prince from time to time but I need a carriage to go there, it's a bit far from our home. I miss our time together.

On quieter days, I'd choose the companionship of books. Time would melt away, and I'd emerge from those literary journeys with a heart filled with tales yet untold. Then, the day finally arrived.

I stood by the door, eagerly awaiting my father's return. The door swings open, revealing my father, Mr. Oliver, who steps inside, accompanied by Lady Clarissa, an embodiment of elegance, and two young girls, Belle and Lindsay. My eyes widen in surprise and curiosity.

"Father! You've returned sooner than expected. And who might these lovely guests be?" I asked with curiosity.

By his side stood a woman, her beauty as captivating as a painting. Her golden curls cascaded like a sunlit waterfall, framing her face with an ethereal glow. It was a puzzling sight, one that left me with questions.

My Father was beaming, "Ella, my dear, meet Lady Clarissa. She's your new mother and these charming girls are your sisters, Belle and Lindsay."

Lady Clarissa was extending her hand warmly. "It's a pleasure finally meeting you, Ella. Your Father has spoken so fondly of you."

I was overwhelmed but delighted. "Mother? Sisters? It's a surprise but a truly delightful one! Welcome to our home." I was surprised but happy. I finally had sisters to play with. My heart fluttered with a mix of emotions. I was no longer an only child – I now had sisters and a mother. It was as if the universe had woven the answer to my longing.

We exchanged warm embraces. I was trying to contain my excitement at the arrival of my newfound family members. We move into the living area.

Lady Clarissa was smiling. "Your home is beautiful, Ella. I can see why your father speaks of it with such adoration."

"Thank you, Step Mother. I'm thrilled to show you around." I said to her warmly.

My new mother was a vision of grace and beauty. Her golden hair cascaded on her shoulder, framing her face like a halo. My sisters possessed unique charm – my older sister with blonde hair and my second sister with vibrant red locks.

They tour the estate, laughter filling the halls as they explore each room together.

Belle liked my room. "Your room is so cozy, Ella! I adore it."

Lindsay was admiring the décor. "Look at these paintings! They're incredible."

I was happy because they liked my room. "I'm glad you both like it. It's been a cherished space for me."

Lady Clarissa said gently, "It's a room filled with warmth and love. Just like this entire house, Ella."

"I'm grateful to have all of you here. Our family feels complete now." I was smiling.

The following day brought a familiar scene as my father prepared to set off again, bound for the palace. My curiosity got the better of me, and I made a heartfelt request.

"Father, please bring me with you?" I requested earnestly. I longed to join him, yearning to reunite with my dear friend, the prince, and his pet Leo, the magnificent tiger.

"Come let us go, get inside the carriage." My Father, understanding my longing, consented to my request. I was elated, knowing I would soon be reunited with the companions who had become a cherished part of my life. I couldn't wait to see the prince and his pet Leo again.

As we approached the grand palace, my heart swelled with anticipation. I was returning to a place filled with enchantment and wonder. I hurried to the familiar tree near the palace gardens, which had become a portal to a world of dreams. I found solace in that tranquil spot, where the gentle rustling of leaves and the soothing rhythm of nature enveloped me.

As I settled down with Mr. Fluffy by my side, I closed my eyes, savoring the serenity of the surroundings. The tree provided a shade canopy, and the tranquil ambiance gave me peace.

But my heart leaped with joy when I heard the unmistakable sound of Leo approaching. I opened my eyes to find him bounding towards me, his robust frame brimming with energy. I greeted him with a warm smile, overwhelmed with happiness at the sight of my loyal friend.

He purred. I chuckled, feeling the warmth of our friendship rekindle. "Leo, I missed you too," I said. I reached out to pat Leo's fur, appreciating our bond. Mr. Fluffy was also elated to see his friend again. They began playing with each other as if rekindling their bond.

The prince emerged, his presence lighting up the garden. He said, "Ella, you've returned, I was beginning to wonder if you'd come back." He pouted his lips and I just wanted to squeeze his cheeks because he is so damn cute. Of course, I wouldn't dare, but I just did it in my mind.

"I've missed our conversations, and it's been too long since we had a chance to talk." He was so overwhelmed by happiness that he scooped me in his arms and hugged me. Oh, my goodness, I was shocked but my heart fluttered.

I smiled my heart pounding in excitement and my cheeks flushed, "I've missed you too, your highness." My Father has been traveling." "Today, though, I was surprised. He brought a woman with him and her two daughters. I now have a mother and sisters."

William regained his composure and brought his hands to his sides. "That's wonderful. You have a family now, and you won't be lonely anymore. I don't have any brothers or sisters, so I'm glad for you."

"You're a dear friend, your highness. You've always been here for me, even when I was lonely. Now, I have sisters to play with at home."

William pondered, "I'm glad for you, Ella. It means you may not visit me as often, but that's okay. You have your family now." He said sadly and his lips pouted.

"I will still play with you often," I said. I still don't have brothers, and he laughed at my remarks. Even though I never felt that he was my brother, this feeling is entirely new to me even at a young age. Whenever he is close to me and sometimes holds my hands, I feel something else. Our connection gave me a certain rush like a butterfly in my stomach and a blush in my cheeks.

The prince's voice resonated warmly as he spoke, "Ella, I'm delighted to see you again. My heart was whole as I sat there with my dear friend, the prince, and his loyal companion, Leo. It was a day filled with laughter, stories, and shared dreams, a moment that wrapped around me like a warm embrace.

But now it's just a memory, I wonder if he still thinks about me. I ask myself as I reminisce.

'Five years have passed and would he even recognize me now?'

'Did he ever wonder why I haven't visited him anymore?'
