Chapter 2 Clammy

Chapter Two - Clammy

Genesis palms felt clammy right away as she stepped out of the car, stretching the arms of her black sweaters as she tried wiping her sweaty palms against the fabric.

"This is it"she thought as she take in her surrounding. The house was big compared to the smaller one that stood beside it.

The house was painted in brown except the wooden parts that was painted in white.

"It was okay"she thought again though she hadn't seen the inside ,she wasn't quick to judge.

Moving to the trunk of the car as she tried taking out her few luggage she had brought since the rest of their belongings and the household properties had already been moved here two days ago.

She couldn't help but notice the lady across the street that was squatting down in position tending to the garden and was also throwing glances at her.

Her mother wouldn't notice since she was already inside the house leaving her alone to carry the heavy bags.

"Good afternoon"she greeted politely , the lady sent daggers right at her before standing up adjusted the hem of the pink floral dress she was wearing before stomping right into the her house.

"That was rude" she frowned but neither the less she thought the garden to be lovely.

The flowers complimenting the small all white bungalow. It was evident that the rude lady as what she had named her to be was doing a great job in tending to the garden.

After much struggle with the bags , Genesis lets out a sigh as she dropped it on the floor that led to the staircase that was painted in all white.

She sighs again dropping her shoulder as she glance through the house.

She moved to the living room painted also in white, three black leather couches were placed in the centre , the bigger one staring directly at the plasma TV that was hung on the wall, the two other couches sat at both side of the larger one.

A painting also placed at the furthermost end of the living room , the fire place beneath it.

She thought it to be okay but it was definitely not her mother that decorated the place. Her mother unlike most wives had little or no interest and talent in decorations and interior designs.

Finding her room wasn't all that difficult since the house only had three rooms the first one she knew was occupied by her mother thanks to her mother singing at the top of her lungs, obvious that the lungs would abruptly burst if she hit a high note. How Celine Deon does it it till wonders her , those singers where really gifted. Simply geniuses.

The next one was filled with boxes indicating a storage room.

So she owned the last one , it looked almost like her former one only the colour was know purple instead of orange and some of her things weren't the way they used to be.

But it was better, she agreed.

The room much bigger than the former one.

She collapsed on the bed as she stared sideways at her closed windows.

She missed home, she missed her dad.

Would people in her former school miss her?, obviously not.

Given as she was antisocial, she was totally ignored through her time there.

She would miss the two people she was able to call friends.

Grace Northway her friend since elementary school probably the reason why she wasn't bullied.

The blonde innocent looking girl with blue eyes wasn't all that innocent, she was the toughest in the group. Her spirit and energy was obviously something to be envied.

Grace dad was a sheriff and Grace had been learning self defense since she was six.

Her dad Peter Northway was now a mayor.

Tom Park, a fairly tall boy when they met first year of junior high but had seemed to have sky scrapped from 5'11 to 6'5 and the end of the second year.

Puberty was hitting him hard and soon enough the girls had started noticing him.

At the end of junior year he had already been invited out to try out for the basketball team for senior year.

He got in.

At first Genesis thought he would ditch them since he now belong to the elite group of the school.

But he never did , he struck around.

For Genesis he was the matured one, and she would never forget him and his sandy blond hair that she loved so much.

She sighs again seems to have been doing lot of that lately.

"Genesis ! Genesis!" her mother multiply calling woke up her up and she had noticed she had fallen asleep.

Rubbing her eyes as she got out of the bed.

She opens her door as she notices her mom standing there watching her with careful eyes , something June was fond of doing when it came to Genesis.

"Mom "she voiced out

"Get ready , we are going out for dinner " June said swiftly as she walks away from the room

"Okay"she muttered as she stared at her mother retreating figure.

*****

June parks her mini van in an empty spot that stood facing directly to door of the restaurant , few feet away to the door.

The drive had been stressful enough for her and she couldn't make dinner , not that she was great at cooking but she loved preparing simple meals.

Why she picked this town she really didn't knew , she was only just recommended about the place.

And the price of the house was quite negotiable.

Small places seem to do well with her so it was a win-win situation.

She glanced at her daughter Genesis , sighed and got out

She missed him but she couldn't talk, she had given him the freedom he solely desired.

He was not happy with her she knew it, had they ever been in love, the answer no.

At one time they cared for each other , she cared more.

A one night stand that sealed them together.

Apart from her been pregnant , her ex husband grandfather was a politician at that time running for the office of a senate , and their action would have caused them a lot , this things Genesis knew nothing of and she would make sure to keep her in the dark forever.

"Come on "she gestured at genesis as she got out of the car slamming the door harshly , Genesis soon followed as they stepped in the restaurant , the only restaurant in town.

The place was parked and it was obvious that the people in it acted more has family than friends , they had togetherness.

The togetherness and unity Genesis adored , though she wasn't a people person but she envy those that were able to bring lot of people around them.

There presence had been noticed when her mother harshly again slammed the restaurant door.

Everyone eyes snapped at them and if looks could actually kill they would be found six feet under.

Genesis tensed up obviously uncomfortable with the stares she was getting , her hands were clammy again , anxiety building up she could feel a drop of sweat run down her forehead this was the time she missed her dad .

Her dad was always successful in making her feel at ease as he would always rub soothingly at her back , throwing her a reassuring smile.

Her mum no , she knew I mom loved her but wasn't good in showing affection.

She glanced at her mom who don't seem bothered by the stares she was getting instead she held her head high she had never envy her mother in anyway apart from her beauty , right now it was her pride.

"Come on" her mother gestured again for the second time as she walks away

She followed quickly behind her mother obviously hiding from the never ending stare.

She didn't want to appear weak but right now she couldn't help herself.

Her mom had ordered her meal for her not asking for her opinion she could care less , she only nod at her mother choice , right now she loved herself for loving almost all kinds of food.

The plate of spaghetti and tomato sauce was placed in front of her accompanied by a glass of orange juice and water placed beside the plate , she looked up to her mother who was already eating.

"Enjoy "the waitress said as she literally ran away giving no opportunity to Genesis of seeing her.

She picked up her fork , looking at her surrounding , she breath easily noticing that they weren't staring any more.

She digging in , raising her fork up to her slightly opened mouth, she paused , she felt it , slowly she looked up and her breath hitched.

Someone was staring at her right across the her table , she hadn't noticed him early probably had just walked in.

She was frozen , at least her body was ,his hazel brown eyes staring at her , his arms folded , Genesis unconsciously tuck in her hair in the right side of her ear.

His gaze bored at her , his eyes judgmental , her appetite all washed away as she stared at the teenage boy who was definitely older than her , he was attractive , very , she admitted no matter what happened now she couldn't eat again.

"Ain't you eating ?" her mother voice tore her gaze from him

"I am not hungry anymore" she simply stated , her mother dropped her fork as she cleaned her mother with the paper napkin as she stared at her before sternly saying "young lady ,I have no time for this , you will eat! "

"Perhaps I could pack it up " Genesis suggested her voice almost pleading

Her mom rested back on her chair "Fine " she stated she gestured to the waitress , who soon rush over to them

"Could you please help me pack this up" she gestured at her food as well as hers before opening her purse and handed some notes to her "keep the change " she added

"Okay" the waitress replied as she picked up Genesis plate and walked away , soon coming back with already packed she handed it to Genesis who mutters a thank you before the waitress walks away attending to others business

Genesis stood up her head hanging low she wouldn't look up or she would have to come face to face with the mystery guy.

She followed her mom from behind as they walked out the restaurant releasing the breath she held on for quite a long time.
