Chapter 5 Mysterious visitor

The thought of how he was able to be inside the premises baffled her immediately she came to. "I'm here to see you, my love" she looked past him to the door, ignoring his slightly offended look and imagined someone walking in and finding them.

"But, how did you manage to get in?" She asked still concerned, she thought for a moment if she was dreaming and pinched herself a bit, she was awake... What was going on?

"I snuck in" he smirked, the casual tone of his voice and careless demeanor shocked her even more than his words, he must be joking, No one had ever breached through the mansion thick security, but he did. It made her feel happy but so worried all at once. How did he do it? She managed a smile and sat up properly, "You must be joking"

"But I'm not, my darling" he said softly "I just had to see you" he explained and she briefly wondered if he had actually sneaked in to her Father's heavily guarded mansion.

"Uh... you shouldn't have, Mason" she was beginning to get so scared "how did you manage to get here?" She asked half mindedly looking at the door again.

"You happen to seem to care more about that than me being here" he sat on the bed and held her hands and she briefly thought of how he knew where her room was.

"You've never been here?" She furrowed her eyebrows trying to figure a lot of things out "how did you even find my room?" She inquired and he scoffed.

"Don't worry about all that now, darling" he caressed her sore head

"But I have to know, this is dangerous" she widened her eyes. He stood up and did a little pacing.

"Dangerous is you wanting to get married to some rich dude without even breaking up with me" he huffed "in all the three months of us dating, you've made us keep it a secret and now, you're getting married!" He shook his head and narrowed his eyes at her "I never imagined you playing me like this, never saw you as a snubby rich girl. That's why I just had to see you and find out if it's all a lie" he crouched down before her "it's a lie, isn't it?" He asked and she couldn't stop herself from thinking about how he found out, she hadn't even thought of a good time to meet up with him and tell him about her whole ordeal.

"How... How did you find out about that, Mason?" She sputtered, she felt like she had just been caught cheating. She didn't have experience in relationship stuff but she knew the basics and she damn well knew what her Father pulled her into was a relationship breaker and she didn't want to end her relationship with Mason, she couldn't. She could have said she loved him.

"Your sister, Sabrina..." He looked down "she posted it on her socials, I guess by the look on your face it's all true." He sighed "I couldn't believe it when I saw it, it felt like my whole world had crashed"

She hated the whole situation and what she was doing to Mason, he has always been so nice to her and such a gentleman "It's not my will to do this" she sniffled "my Father is making me, it's important I do it" she explained.

"and what about me, uh? He stood up and huffed "you're just going to break up with me? break up with the guy who isn't rich!" He glared at her.

"No, no... We can work something out, we've kept it a secret all these time and we can keep it on"

"Go on with the secret relationship?" He shook his head "is that all you want from me?"

She managed to stand up, "of course not, Mason, I want more but I don't control this situation. We have to remain together till I figure something out" His eyes became downcast and somewhat glassy "it's hurting me too, hurting me I have to do this because I feel my whole life is meaningless" she held his face.

"My Mom's really sick, Penelope. I couldn't even go to see her in the hospital because I had to confirm what was going on first"

"oh my God, Mason," Penelope gapsed "what's wrong with her?"

"I didn't want to tell you but I couldn't just hold back" he sighed "She has diabetes and it's really bad" he lowered his head once more.

"That's really serious," Penelope also felt downcast "what can I do to help?" His face seemed to brighten up.

"the thing is there are a lot of medical bills, and you know they don't pay me well at the supermarket... I don't have enough to..." Penelope cut him short.

"don't worry," she grabbed her phone from her nightstand "just tell me how much you'll be needing to take care of her and I'll send it to you"

He smiled, a bright sly smile "$2,000 should cover all the expenses, she's really fragile at this moment"

Penelope was taken aback, she didn't expect it to be that much money. Her Father would definitely have questions if she sends that amount "Are you sure you've got the amount right?" She asked wrinkling her brows.

"If it's too much money, Penelope... I can always ask some of my guys..." His face slowly formed a scowl.

"no, don't worry... I'll send it immediately, your Mom needs to get better" she sends the money almost immediately and a knock came from her door making her jolt and let out a little yelp. She instinctively covered her mouth before she let out another sound.

"Penelope?" Her Mom called out, "Honey, open up the door I need to tell you something important" she was so glad Mason had locked the door "Honey?" She was still upset with her Mom and her calling her sweet names wouldn't change that.

"What is it, Mom?" She called out

"Sweetie, open the door for me, hmm..." She knocked again "you can't stay mad at me forever and besides there's an important information I need to share with you"

"If it's about the wedding you can go on and do whatever you like, I really don't care" she scoffed still trying to figure out how to hide Mason "we have to find a way to hide you" she whispered to Mason.

"This is important, Penelope. Quit being a spoilt brat and open up"

"that's so rich, Mom." She spat

"you have to stop letting them treat you like this" Mason sighed

"I know but I have no choice, I can't stay here forever" Penelope explained

Mason nodded, " I'll hide in your closet, but don't let her come close" Penelope smiled.

"but how would you leave?" She asked in realization

"don't worry, I'm a ninja." He joked and Penelope chuckled

"just be careful, okay?" He nodded

The knock came again "Penelope!"

"argh... Fine! I'm coming, Mom" she went to the door and opened it, stepping out immediately to stop her Mother from going in.

"Why won't you let me go in?" Her Mother inquired

"Because I'm an adult and it's my room and since I'm being forced to get married I don't actually care about the consequences of my actions anymore" she spat

Her Mother was taken aback and sighed "I'll only allow this behavior because you're upset, uh... Because it's not a good suit for a wife" she explained and Penelope scoffed.

"What's so important that you wanted to tell me anyways?" She rolled her eyes

"More of show" her Mother smiled deviously leaving Penelope wondering what she could want to show her.
