Chapter 5 Your place...or mine

Katrina and Lex stood under the starry sky, staring at each other.

"What do you want from me?"

"I want to rip your clothes off," Katrina smirked, leaning on her car.

"And you'll stop following me around if I let you?" Lennox asked.

Katrina shrugged, "Probably not."

"Why not?"

"I don't know. It's still a mystery to me as well," Katrina admitted. "I really have no idea why. In the meantime, while I figure the whole thing out, can I still follow you?"

"Mrs Cole–"

"Kat," she corrected gently.

"Kat. I don't see this as appropriate. You're married and all. I'm not trying to be in anyone's bad books. Plus, I don't even find you... attractive."

Katrina was outraged but she managed to keep her composure. She actually believed him when he said that and he had no idea it hit her harder than intended.

"Fine. I'll stay away," she said opening the car door.

She sat in the driver's seat and tightened her grip on the steering wheel. Lennox knocked on the window but she just ignored him, reversed the car and drove off.

Of course Lennox had not meant it. Katrina had a very unique face, beautiful in a very different way. Which made everyone attracted to her. She was like an exotic flower; someone that stood out. And her body, Lex guiltily admitted to himself that he had been staring at her but didn't realize it.

Katrina got home and barged into her bedroom. Daniel sat up, putting his book down.

"What happened?" Daniel asked, taking in the expression on her face.

Katrina kicked off her heels and sat by the edge of the bed.

"Nothing."

"Something definitely happened. What is it?" he questioned again.

Katrina sighed, "I said nothing Daniel. How was work?" She asked to change the subject.

"Though you never ask me and it's you just trying to avoid whatever happened, I'll just go with it. Work was definitely interesting. As it always is."

Kat laid back on the bed and before she could stop him, Daniel pulled her to his side. She didn't fight him though.

"Katrina, I think we should try for a baby."

Katrina shook her head, "Daniel. You've seen the worst of me. Do you really think a person like me could be a mother?"

"I've also seen the best in you. And yes, I think you can be a wonderful mother."

Katrina sighed, "I don't want children."

"Maybe they could be the solution to our problems."

"I said no".

"Damn you Katrina! I'm trying to fix our marriage and you're being a spoiled bitch as always!"

Katrina remained calm. This was how their marriage was. These fights, the insults, the arguments, those were what defined their marriage. When Katrina married Daniel at only eighteen, she didn't expect much from him. She didn't even want to live in the same house of her. But he insisted. She knew they would fight all the time.

"I'm not in the mood. I'll go sleep in the guestroom," Katrina said, getting up.

"You see? This is your problem! You're a coward Katrina! A coward!"

"And you aren't right? Because you are brave? Because you are the one who wants to resolve conflict?" Katrina scoffed. "Drop the whole 'Katrina is so childish' shit. First of all, you're more of a coward than I could ever be. You're scared of conflict. Because you don't want to get on my bad side. Because of who I am. And that makes you the world's biggest loser darling."

Katrina walked out of the bedroom, not waiting for his reply. She went into the guestroom.

'At this point, this is practically my bedroom.'

She changed into her nightgown and laid on the bed. Katrina's phone rang and it was Nathan.

"Kat."

"Nathan."

"I have good news. We're about to close that huge deal with Samuel Castro."

She sat up. For months, she had been trying to become a shareholder in Samuel Castro's fashion empire, and now, it was finally happening.

"You said we are close. Which means we're not there yet. What's the obstacle?" Katrina asked.

"I wouldn't call it an obstacle but Mr Castro has invited you to a boxing event. Tomorrow at 5pm."

"Count me in," Katrina said immediately. "I'd do anything."

"Great. I'll let him know you will be there. And I'll email you the details tomorrow."

And as she promised, promptly at 5pm, Katrina arrived at the boxing arena. She stepped out of the limousine, and was immediately escorted inside. Katrina was taken to the VIP area, which had a better view of the boxing arena.

"Mrs Cole! You look ravishing as always!" Samuel Castro grinned, hugging her.

She was wearing his own design, a simple sky blue two piece suit. A short sleeves jacket, buttoned all the way, and matching trousers.

"Thank you. I owe this to your incredible fashion sense. And thank you for sending these yesterday."

"It is my pleasure."

They sat down and soon the event began. Katrina surprisingly found the matches very entertaining and interesting. She enjoyed guessing who would win each round and match. It was a new experience for her, but she already loved it.

"Are you enjoying yourself Mrs Cole?" Samuel asked.

"Yes, I am. I'm just a little bit...thirsty. And I think...I think I need a cigar. I'll be right back."

Katrina got up and went outside. She took the cigar from her purse and lit it.

"Mrs Cole."

Katrina looked up to see none other than Lex standing right in front of her.

He smirked, "You are just straight up stalking me now."

Why did he have to be so damn good looking?!

"I'm afraid I don't have the time to."

She was about to leave when Lex called after her.

"Does your offer still stand?" he asked.

She turned and looked at him.

"No. Things come and go. Besides, I'm not that attractive, remember?"

"Are you still upset about last time! Of course I find you attractive."

"Did you go home and think about how you could get money out of me?" Katrina asked. This was all too sudden.

Lex moved closer to her, until her back was against the wall, and he was right in front of her. His eyes bored into hers, his scent filled her nostrils and she was intoxicated.

"No. I don't want a single penny from you."

"You don't do married men," she reminded him.

He shrugged, "Rules are made to be broken Mrs Cole. What do you say?"

It was Katrina's turn to shrug, "I got nothing to lose. Where and when?"

He grinned and there was mischief in his eyes, "You pick, Mrs Cole."
