Chapter 4 She Is Pregnant (Part Two)

"Wow, thank you. The love you have for me is simply outstanding," Jay muttered sarcastically.

As soon as he said it, he raised his glass towards the other people who came by to congratulate him, plastering a smile on his face.

"You don't have to be so polite you know–"

Riley froze suddenly.

Jay followed her gaze and saw that Vivian was dressed in a light pink, off-shoulder evening dress. Her dark hair was held up in an elegant bunt. Strands of hair fell down to her sides, framing the gentle features of her face. She looked amazing.

And she was holding onto Jeffrey's arm.

When Jay froze beside her, Riley clenched her fists in envy. 'Isn't she supposed to be in America?' she thought.

Beside her, Jeffrey was also sporting a luxurious white suit. He was tall and handsome. In fact, the lights didn't do justice in highlighting his beauty. The couple was extremely eye-catching.

"Well?

Do you still think this wasn't his choice?" Jeffrey lowered his voice into a whisper as he motioned to the couple located at the center of the mansion.

Vivian didn't know that it was their engagement party. When they arrived, their eyes naturally fell on Jay's smiling face. It seemed that he was actually going to get married to Riley for real.

"Well? Don't you want to get back at them? That man doesn't deserve your love. Can't you see? Besides, you'll be my wife soon enough. You shouldn't be attached to other men."

Biting her lip, Vivian ignored his harsh words.

"Long time no see, Jeffrey." John Du, one of his friends, came over with a glass of wine in his hand, glancing at Vivian. "You have a new girlfriend? Interesting. She doesn't look like the ones you used to date."

"Why don't you stay quiet?" Jeffrey plastered a smile on his face, but what he really wanted was to cover the man's mouth. He glanced at the woman beside him. "He was only joking. Don't take it too seriously."

"Go ahead. I want to be alone for a while."

Vivian waved her hand dismissively as she felt her head start to pound.

Jeffrey was about to say something to stop her, but John Du had already pulled him aside.

Seeing that she was sitting on the corner, Riley decided to let go of Jay and winked at her mother who was busy chatting with some socialites.

Noticing her implication, they walked to Vivian. "Is it really you, Vivian? Why don't you congratulate me? It's my engagement party after all,"

Riley said smugly. She wanted to laugh at her face. After so long, she had finally won against Vivian. Although Jay was her boyfriend once, now, he was Riley's fiance.

"Stop it. Your sister must still be devastated that you're engage to her ex," Kelly said, turning to Vivian spitefully. "She might not be in the mood to congratulate you."

Vivian just sat proudly as she took a glass from one of the waiter's trays. She gazed at the swirling wine before glancing up at them.

"Oh, but how can I not congratulate you, sister? I wish you a happy marriage, and of course, a peaceful divorce." Without another word, she threw the wine all over Riley's face.

"Vivian! You've gone too far!"

Jay pulled Riley over protectively as he glared at Vivian.

Hiding in his arms, Riley looked like a puppy who had just been beaten.

"Oh, don't get me started with you!" Vivian was about to say something else when Albert stomped towards them.

"Bastard!" Suddenly, his large hand slapped her across the face.

Covering one side of her cheek, Vivian stared at him in disbelief.

"How could you do that to your own sister? From now on, you aren't my daughter. You will not be part of this family! Get the hell out of the house and don't ever come back!"

Vivian burst into horrendous laughter as she glared at him. "You're kicking me out? You're really siding with your mistress over your own daughter?"

"Fuck off," Albert snapped harshly.

Covering her face with her hands, Vivian stared at her father before glancing at the other people who started to surround her. Their whispers and jokes felt like needles piercing through her heart.

"Vivian..."

As soon as Jeffrey arrived to see what had happened, Vivian already covered her face and left.

Staring at her retreating figure, Jay couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

A month had passed.

Vivian was leisurely leafing through a magazine. On the front page showed a photo of Riley and Jay in an intimate embrace. The more she looked back, the more mocking her smile became.

Without her, Jay successfully got the money and the crisis with the Pei Group was solved. After gaining Albert's trust, Jay climbed up the ranks and became the Vice President of the Pei Group. It seemed that everything was finally falling into place.

And her? She sneered at the thought. No one wanted anything to do with her.

Her gaze fell on the jewelry box sitting next to her. In it was a big eighteen carat diamond ring.

"Vivian, I really want to marry you," Jeffrey had said. "Will you marry me? I swear, I'll find the truth."

"Jeffrey, do you really want me to say it again?" She looked up. "I hate you."

"It doesn't matter. As long as you'll marry me, none of it matters."

That was what Jeffrey told her on one knee after they had left the Pei's mansion.

A month had passed, and she still didn't make a decision.

Was she going to marry him? Of course not. Yet, she had no idea how to speak out her refusal.

Thinking of what had happened that fateful night, Vivian turned bright green as she rushed to the bathroom.

"Fuck!" she gasped out. When she reached the toilet, she vomited everything she had eaten the night before.

When she stood up, her face turned ghastly pale. She hadn't been well recently.

It seemed that she was due for another check-up. She grabbed her bag and went for the hospital.

In the evening, she returned to the hotel and collapsed onto the bed. Her mind was swimming with all kinds of thoughts as to what to do now. She clenched her fists and slammed it against the cushions in frustration.

An hour later, she stood up and packed her bags. As she was about to leave the hotel, she thought of something else and grabbed the ring box with her.

Two days later, Jeffrey returned from his business trip only to be greeted by a note on the tea table.

"Don't look for me, or I'll make you regret it for the rest of your life!"

He smirked and shook his head. His thumb grazed across the paper as he promised, "I will find you."
